I have looked for a suitable blogging option for my Shopify store. The bar was low because Shopify's native option is close to non-existant (a mystery to me), but the options were many, and because editorial is key to my business, I spent the right amount of time looking for what I needed. Blog Studio was it: affordable, rich, flexible, and with a great customer service. It can get a little buggy some time, but the team is prompt to help, and at that price point, I'm very happy with what I'm getting! I wanted for this app to work. In essence it's exactly what I was looking for. HOWEVER, there are so many glitches, page freezes, text discrepancies, issues with blocks, and the like that it's taken me weeks to create about two paragraphs, and I still can't finish this. Even after asking for support, and getting minor feedback, the issues persist. If Blog Studio can fix the constant issues, page crashes, app freezing, etc. I may consider revisiting, but for now, it's just not worth it and I still don't have a completed blog post. Definitely not a five star review but here's my five faces of frustration ♀️♀️

Very glitchy and not thought out. Also not that straight forward and pretty basic. Cant just add text in its shape and form like, it makes you think that you can "move up and down" the text box but in reality nothing moves. Or at one point it did, press "Move up" the whole thing actually moved down. If you add a photo and a text next to it, the photo moved once the text gets longer and you cannot resize it place it elsewhere its even get distorted hence saying Glitchy!!! For super basic things...maybe it would work.

It's terrible. It started of nice but became a nuisance very soon. As I started writing my image moved to the centre. and I could not move it to the top. I could not add paragraphs coz it kept sticking the blocks next to each other. and when I deleted the additional blocks it deleted the whole article. when I added a section it looked like a new blog article. 45 mins wasted!

Blog Studio is extremely glitchy and crashes constantly. The features are complicated and difficult to use, not straightforward at all. It deleted a blog I spent hours on. I will no longer be using this app.

The idea was good but .... To create an article, you have to convert it? Sometimes 3 or 4 times before being able to edit it, without risking to delete the duplicates at the risk of losing everything, which is perfectly unreadable... You spend hours editing an article with the right formatting, everything gets reformatted without warning... Once on the editing of an article, you change the slightest comma and my PC suffers major slowdowns (even though it is very powerful), the application slows down up to 30 seconds sometimes, it's just unmanageable... Message sent to support but no response... What a shame...

I'm changing my previous review, but the app is still bad after 9 months, no HTML indentation, lots of templates are ugly and not responsive, some chrome extensions make the app crash (bye bye your articles)

The app is great for layouts and very easy to use. I tested out a number of other apps but this was by far the most intuitive and versatile. My only grief is it my layouts look great on a computer but quite terrible on a phone (cuts off images and all sorts). I spoke to support about this and they said its not possible to create a phone view. Other apps had this feature so I really think it should be fixed as a priority, we shouldn't have to choose between computer and phone view. Other than that the support are very responsive and helpful. Just please please fix the phone view issue! Then it will be 5 stars!

I have only just started using this app, but already I can tell it's going to be perfect for creating gorgeous looking blog posts. There are many many options to get your post looking exactly the way you want it to look, which like any new software will take some time learning. Already I have reached out to ShopPad's support team, and they are very quick in replying. Why not 5 stars? The user interface to get to all those options might not be the most intuitive - but will be something that hopefully will become second nature the more I use it.

Shopify's ability to format any sort of page is REALY bad. This makes it alot easier. There are somethings that could be improved-- for example, it would be really nice to be able to update sections and have it apply those changes to all the posts it's on-- but for the price, it's worth it. Also, the customer service is really helpful! I've had a couple of questions on how to add padding, etc. and they've jumped on our site and added code to work it out.

I debated between a lot of different blog apps, and many I eliminated right away because they effectively discouraged heavy use of the blogging functionality by putting "unlimited pages" behind a very expensive paywall. Others, were barely functional. Many were barely functional "AND" had an expensive paywall. I chose Blog Studio because most importantly, it allowed me to create blog posts that looked similar to very popular sites like Wired.com. Success breeds clues right? And it works! Of course I started out pretty mediocre in my ability to composite blog posts, but each post came out better than the last, by the third post, I really felt comfortable in being able to make a professional looking blog post like what "I" enjoy reading. But I encountered a weird glitch, not sure where it came from, I couldn't see YouTube videos. I talked with support, and they actually went in and fixed my theme. My theme not from them (actually paid theme from the shopify store, Artisan). Wow! I'm beyond impressed, not just because I got what I asked for, a great blog writing toolset to make me look more professional and hopefully expand my reading base, but because of what I didn't ask and didn't know i needed, a great team providing quick and responsive tech support going above and beyond the call of duty. Thanks Mandy, you and the rest of the blog studio team are the best!

So far, so good. I can insert blocks, and create very custom blog posts that look great on any device. However, the app suffers from the restriction of inserting its code into the theme's template. So, for example, if you want a full-width layout, and the theme's blog post template only has a 50% centered layout, you'll need custom CSS to get it to look the way you want it to look. But that is not a fault on this app. This app works as intended, so far. Just be aware of the limitations. I used flowzy's custom CSS plugin to add the additional CSS. I wish there were a way to easily add related products into blog posts. Right now, it's very hacky and not automated.

Not happy with this app. It does not work very well and designing decent blog posts is a nightmare. There are SO many bugs and just adding new sections doesn't work?! Do not waste your money on this one.

After toying with the new Blog Studio update, I am happy to say that the steep learning curve was 100% worth it. Admittedly, it took my team & me around 6 weeks to learn the new update, but now that we got the hang of it, it is excellent. A few tips: 1. Blog Studio works differently with different Shopify store themes. Some pre-made blocks work, some don't, but overall it's a much better alternative to the native Shopify editor. 2. If a pre-made block isn't displaying correctly, toy with the smaller, grey (+) sign within the box to make your own block. This has really helped us. 3. The updated desktop/mobile preview function doesn't work most of the time. Instead, just shrink your browser window the mobile size and you'll be able to see what it looks like on mobile. 4. The preview within the editor doesn't always reflect what a blog post will actually look like, and sometimes the live view takes a few minutes to display any changes. To avoid this, click 'Save', then click 'Preview Draft'. This will reflect any changes made immediately. 5. DO NOT edit any Blog Studio articles in the native Shopify editor, even if you're just adding tags. This will throw the whole article off. Just make sure all edits are made within Blog Studio. 6. Also, make sure that one person is in Blog Studio at a time. I noticed sometimes if more than one person is editing the same or a different article at the same time, it will confuse the app and throw all formatting off. 7. Start every blog post from scratch. Using saved templates just leads to frustration. 8. Play with the settings within a block. (The little gear icon within a block.) You can really get down to the nitty-gritty once you learn all of the capabilities. 9. Don't be afraid to upgrade the article if you have to. No major changes will happen. 10. The saved buttons feature is great to save time. That's about it off the top of my head. In summary, this app is great, especially if you put out a lot of content, but just know that it has a lot of bugs that need to be worked through. It can be very frustrating to learn how to use the app, and if you're an agency, learning how the app interacts with different themes can be challenging as well. However, the features and capability for customization are great once you learn how to do it, and this is the only Shopify app that doesn't charge you per new page created. So stick through the tough learning curve, talk with live chat (they're great), and you'll be happy you did.

The video makes it look easy. click and drag. nope. there is a whole section that is nonresponsive and doesn't work. so the way I gotta add blocks is only one way. very frustrating. the only reason i have it is because i need blogs on my site but i def would not recommend using this one. pickings are kind of slim so you just use whatever you find. good luck.

The interface for editing the posts is a little bit clunky (it's easy to add erroneous blocks and spaces), but it is miles better than the native blog posts that Shopify offers. Support is incredibly quick and courteous, I would highly recommend giving this app a try if content marketing is an important strategy for your shop's traffic. I can't say enough positive things about being able to finally redirect blog visitors to my products inside of a post and the ability to add a table of contents for easier reading.

I recently posted a review that expressed frustration with the app. I have to say that the customer support was exceptional and they have sought to address all my concerns and fix them. I still think it is a basic page builder but after much research, this is the best option you will find for Shopify blogs if you don't want to pay for PageFly and Shogun (really ££££ if you just want the blog features). I created an extremely detailed article about making Face Shields and I couldn't have done it without this app! The graphic options are plentiful and I loved that I could easily create # links within the article so that I could create a table of contents. The page looks great on both computers and mobile devices. This app is going to get me back into blogging because I will finally be satisfied with the look of the posts! Thanks for an awesome App! My only request would be to have a multi-photo uploader, and a "zoom in" photo block (for example the image would zoom when clicked), but I'm very happy with it thus far. :)

So far the app does what it says. I will say that there is a learning curve to it and when you implement it, there may be some changes needed to make it perfect. BUT what is most impressive, and maybe important is that their support team is super fast and knowledgeable. They changed the app css code to give me the exact spacing I wanted between sections. Not a lot of apps will change your code for you, especially within 2hrs of asking the question. I am still on free trial but expect I will move to paid version once it's up.

I originally gave this four stars after putting together one article (which was tricky and a bit buggy), but once I saw the result on our site, I was not pleased. Different fonts and colors appeared in the post on our site than were showing in the app window. Headings that showed in the app as all in caps were not when seen in Shopify. The app is also still limited and needs improvement - We need to be able to add back in any of the blocks that are available... If you delete a block, you can't re-add it. It also needs some more flexibility, and hitting the backspace in the wrong place shouldn't back you out of the article in progress without saving it! I did contact support and quickly received a request to access my store to work on it. They reported it fixed, but when I previewed the article on Shopify, nothing had changed. This could turn into a decent app in the future, but currently it looks like they're trying to get people to pay for an incomplete app that should still be in free beta, for all its bugs and limitations. I am deleting it while it's still in free trial mode. If they make significant improvements in the future, I may be willing to try it again, and if it's better, I will edit this review.

Given this a try and glad I have, the support has been there without even asking and the templates help to make something worth looking at. With using a template you feel as thou you need to fill out every section, so you keep typing, making a larger blog for folks to read. There looks to be a lot of different things that can be done, adding products etc, so will be having a play with this app.

This app works well, when it works. I've found it pretty buggy to be honest. I publish a lot of blogs and it's not the most efficient app. Font sizes change on their own all the time. Sometimes the website theme setting are imported, sometimes not. It's annoying because you have to go back and change things. No auto save!!! Annoying if something happens! Also, a feature that would be awesome would be scheduling. Currently there is no way to publish posts at a specific time. This would be super helpful. As for as apps go, i find i really pricey for the quality.

Hey Great idea, but unfortunately I had spent alot of time (and made sure I frequently saved) but every time I would back out of the hidden article, it would tell me I was in legacy mode (even though all of my branding font etc was present) and I needed to upgrade the article. It then duplicates the content and updates it with the correct styling, though it deleted alot of the duplicated content. Luckily I did save all of my text but I would suggest fixing it and letting customers know if the store so that I know. I attempted to publish but that did not solve the issue.

Blog Studio is a great app as the simplicity of using it makes life so much easier. However there are a few glitches that make is frustrating to deal with. It doesn't update automatically overtime and when you bounce back between editing and preview this can upset the process. It also has a tendency to not save after each use, so make sure you hit the save button frequently to avoid headache. It's not all bad however it sure does create beautiful templates to creating a visually pleasing blog. And very easy to get around. You can learn very fast how this app operates.

We wanted to find a blog template app because the Shopify app, although terrific as a cart, is limited in the styles offered for a blog. We found Blog Studio and honestly cannot be more pleased. I was looking to take posts from my external Community site and get them into my main site so that it would improve SEO. I tried doing this within my existing store template, but the format looked awful without doing extensive coding myself. So, I turned to Blog Studio. However, the promise of Blog Studio providing better formatting/UX than the default one from my template turned out to be only marginally better. It's still better than the default blog format that I have to work with, so I'll probably continue to use it. But, I had hoped that the Blog Studio look and feel would take precedence over whatever was there in the shop template I'm using. That doesn't seem to be the case.

Indeed you can customize the blogs, however they don't always transfer exactly the same to your Shopify website. They do not allow any sort of subscription to the blog or allow for comments. They do not offer any sort of archive page to show what blogs you have, and when I requested assistance with this, they mentioned I could hire one of their staff to customize my site for $16,000... I am hoping I misheard that... The staff is VERY nice but the service is largely incomplete at the time of writing this.

I've been using it for a week and have to agree, there are some real problems and omissions with this app. Support times are limited and the support teaching materials are not thorough or adequate. They don't even cover comprehensively. I have used it to format, then have to go back in through the standard Shopify Store app to tag, and make adjustments. $15/ month is a lot of money for something that doesn't do what you need it to do.

I had some issues with formatting on mobile. Initially, I just figured Blog Studio would not work for me but the page looked so amazing on the desktop I contacted support and they went to work and that same day the mobile version was fixed and looked amazing. I like the concept and an app like this is definitely something that Shopify really needs. However, for me I found it quite tedious to use in terms of image sizing and the way an image moves the whole way down a page as you write. I don't like that there's no draft function or autosave. Junk - That's all you need to know. You will spend some time figuring out the features and then utilizing them to make a nice looking blog post, right? So you publish it and then it looks good so don't get me wrong it really does. But hours later something happens and it loses the design and everything goes into on big line in order down your page.So you will go and try to edit it and see that it still looks the same in blog studio. Saving it will help get it back in order since it didn't change in blog studio.... WRONG it doesn't. So as far as this apps purpose it is worthless and they have to know that there's no way that this is a small glitch as I have seen others with the same issue. Try it out, and I guarantee you will cancel it before the trial is up. Im about 6 hours into mine and don't see why I will go any further than submitting this review and walking away!

What a massive improvement this is on the standard Shopify blog. It's easy-to-use interface makes creating your aesthetic simple and sleek! Doesn't get a whole 5 Star (but if I could give it 4 1/2 I would!) as it could use a couple of things to polish it up, we had an initial issue with the posts not optimising for mobile sizes, but the support team were on it and fixed it up within 24 hours of access! After trying several things to tweak my theme templates to get my blog to show up exactly how I wanted left me super frustrated. I contacted support at Blog Studio and they jumped in and created a template for me to use, and I had the changes implemented within a few hours. Could not be happier. :-) Thanks Again!! Original Being a new shop owner, and new to e-commerce in general, there are SO MANY things to learn including SEO optimization, which can in itself be a little overwhelming. How does this correlate with Blog Studio? Well, for those of you who understand how important building a brand is, having a blog to interact and reach out to potential and existing customers is a great way to build a relationship. I certainly did not want to have a blog external from shopify....I had enough on my plate already! With shopify's built in blog, I was able to manage everything from one platform which was great, BUT the layout options were a bit "flat" and I wanted to include attractive product links and article layouts that did not feel the same as my website. As I attempted to do this on my own, it was a little more work than I wanted. That's when I went in search of an app that could help me. That's when I found Blog Studio! Even though I have just started with it, compared to the default blog in Shopify, it is 1000x better. It is very easy to integrate, and it has lot's of options that are customizeable (not sure that's an actual word but you get my drift). For a newbie to e-commerce, shopify, social media, etc etc. Blog Studio is a no brainer! I have already saved a ton of time with the layout and with the attractive product links, I have a win win win with giving my customers a fresh experience on my blog page, SEO optimization and (fingers crossed) potential conversions. I really love this app. It made my blog look so much more professional. Just need a little bit more flexibility on resizing images. Other than that, its very easy to use. I do not have to think about the layout. My old blog was so plain. This definitely adds "color" to my blog posts.

The default Shopify blog provides little to no options for creating a decent blog. This app is very versatile and provides so much customizability all in a drag and drop format. Hard to believe it's free. If you do run into any problems, simply contact them and they'll help you solve your issue. I had an issue regarding how the links in my text were displaying. After contacting Blog Studio, Nicole and the technical team quickly assisted me and solved the issue. Will definitely only be using this app for my blog posts!

Not great. Found it very difficult to figure out how to use it, even after reading the instructions. Lots of bugs. At one point I was unable to scroll up to adjust fonts or alignment and lost everything I had worked on. Just not easy to use at all. I would say a video demonstration would go a long way to helping the user. It's annoying that as soon as you add a text block it fills with Lorem Ipsum text. It's annoying that the editor spans beyond what you can see. Just...lots and lots of annoying things that need changing.

OMG this app is fantastic. I've been putting off writing my blogs due to the limited capability on my current template. This app is simple, easy to use and in a few clicks you can get a professional finish to your blog. I can't recommend this enough. Makes my blogs very pleasing to the eye. Works beautifully, with a few minor weird glitches. When I am uploading images, I get the zoom (+ and -) and checkmark buttons, but can't see a preview of my image and can't tell what it will look like so I'm just kinda left guessing how much it'll crop. Another small (but very annoying) glitch is that type sometimes will stop registering in text boxes. I just tried backspacing in a text area (after clicking away to another block briefly) and instead of typing, it took me back to the Blog Studio dashboard. I didn't lose much but this could quickly become a big problem if you're not in the habit yet of constantly saving. It seems like this happens almost every time immediately after I've saved, too. Suddenly the text boxes are no longer editable and I have to navigate back to the dashboard and then click the "edit blog" button. I am using Mozilla Firefox, if that matters. Other than that, I'm extremely pleased and love all the different little things you can do (like the cards, products, testimonials, etc.) I've already come up with some unique ways to style my blog that make the information a lot more digestible and I'm absolutely thrilled. Highly recommended.
