Wish I could give it a zero! Took nearly a year to get approved. Each time I applied, I was denied. I received emails with a reason...photos not the right size. I fixed it and applied again. Turned down again and with no reason. Went on chat and they couldn't tell me why. Was told to apply again. Denied. This went on and on. Finally I checked my app status and out of the blue I was approved. I have sold one item. I sell on Shopify and Faire with no problem. Handshake is a joke!

Same experience as all other reviewers. You'll get declined in 2 minutes even though you qualify on all factors. Don't bother.

I agree with all the other reviewers. My "thoroughly reviewed" app was denied in about 2 minutes. What is the point???

Yup- 2nd time applying and being turned down in 45 seconds. There is no way you looked at my website. I do not resell anything. Everything on my website can be personalized or customized. Your also the only wholesale platform that has turned me down. Others have sent me emails asking me to join. It took me longer to fill out your form than you gave me the courtesy of a look.

Absolutely no vetting for wholesalers. I clicked "submit application" and IMMEDIATELY received and email that said we were rejected. Do not even bother. You can be fully licensed and operational and they will still reject you. We are the only licensed provider of product in our state and they still reject it.

I meet all of the criteria, but got instantly rejected. I have businesses looking to buy wholesale from my shop and it would be really nice to get them started ASAP. I might have to figure out something else. Kind of a bummer.

I recently decided to give Handshake another chance and applied to become a vendor on their platform for the third time. However, my experience with Handshake's seller app has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. Within minutes of submitting my application, I received another rejection notification. How can they claim to thoroughly review my product line in such a short amount of time? It's absolutely ridiculous and a complete joke! First and foremost, the efficiency of Handshake's review process is highly questionable. How can they possibly evaluate the quality and potential of my products in just a matter of minutes? It's evident that Handshake prioritizes speed over accuracy, which raises serious doubts about their commitment to supporting small vendors like myself. Furthermore, the lack of transparency throughout the application process is alarming. Handshake fails to provide any meaningful feedback or explanations for their rejections, leaving vendors in the dark about the reasons behind their decisions. As a vendor, I expect a fair and thorough assessment of my products, which should include constructive criticism and guidance for improvement. Sadly, Handshake falls short in this regard. The whole point of an application process is to ensure that vendors are selected based on the quality of their products and their suitability for the platform. However, Handshake's hasty and impersonal rejections indicate a lack of genuine consideration for vendors. It's disheartening to see a platform that claims to support small businesses and entrepreneurs treat their potential vendors with such disregard. In conclusion, my experience with Handshake's seller app has been frustrating and unproductive. Their rushed and insufficient review process, coupled with the lack of transparency and constructive feedback, makes it clear that Handshake is not committed to helping vendors succeed. If you're a small business owner looking for a fair and supportive platform, I highly recommend exploring other options. Handshake simply doesn't live up to its promises and is ultimately a disappointing choice for vendors.

We recently applied to become vendors on Handshake, an experience that has regrettably been more frustrating than exciting. Handshake outlines a set of prerequisites that sellers must meet to be accepted. We diligently fulfilled each of these conditions, with the belief that we had followed their process meticulously. Our excitement turned into disappointment two weeks later when our application was rejected on the grounds of not meeting the same requirements that we had painstakingly ensured to fulfill. The process lacked clarity and transparency, leaving us unsure of where we fell short. We were further perplexed by their fine jewelry offerings, or rather the lack thereof. Our niche in fine jewelry does not seem overrepresented on their platform, so this couldn't have been a contributing factor to our application's rejection. This opaque and inconsistent admissions process is not an isolated incident, as echoed by numerous other reviews we've come across. Such an experience presents a poor reflection on Handshake, as it raises questions about the transparency and reliability of their application process. This unfortunate encounter serves as a significant deterrent and has negatively impacted our view of Handshake.

Same as the others: auto rejected. Again. Don't even bother. Seems like an elitist, nit-picky group not unlike the self-aggrandizing bouncer at an exclusive club playing god on who gets past the velvet rope.

I read all reviews and tried to apply. Yes, they were right. Just a couple of minutes later I got my rejection message. I really wonder what is your "criteria for selling" exactly. I think there is no Handshake platform :))))

Auto rejected with zero reasons, which seems to be the norm. I was looking forward to this app! Having a reason for rejection would be a nice feature.

Well, add me to the list. I applied last year with a swift denial. Before applying I checked the product category and felt it was not saturated. Just one other seller in my state. After much back and forth with the team, it was revealed my product images were higher than the max 2048x2048 pixels. Fast-forward to this year and I inquired about re-applying. I reached out to support before hand regarding another issue and they said, hint hint you might want to add alt-text for all your images before applying. So I spent 2 days triple checking image sizes and adding alt-text. Applied this morning and within 2 minutes got a quick denial. Already sent an email so we'll see what they say. Highly disappointing...will definitely consider other apps going forward.

I have met all the requirements and have been a customer for years and got denied both times I applied and no explanation as to why. They sell lots of apparel on handshake similar so whatever. For all those looking for wholesale, apply to faires wholesale they do a great job and we do a lot of business through them. I love shopify, but very disappointed with their customer service and their wholesale platform.

A Shopify representative recommended I apply for Handshake in a chat where I was asking for help with the limits of draft orders. What a surprise, we were denied. I even went through the list of requirements and we meet all of them by quite a bit. Should have known better after reading all these reviews. Good thing there are other wholesale apps. So disappointing.

I give this app one star because I am not able to see the app and I keep getting denied. I think it would be really helpful to let stores know why they get denied. Getting rejected instantly is not a real "review" process. Tell stores what criteria they didn't meet.

We sell via Shopify, Faire, Abound, Hubventory, Tundra, Trada, FashionGo, and Dallas Market. But for some reason Handshake said we are "not a match." I was pretty shocked and confused to read that. It would be helpful if they provided a little more of an explanation.

Don't waste your time applying. The "goal is to feature only handpicked suppliers and prevent saturation in certain product categories." Given the exclusive nature of the platform, I have to wonder how many wholesale buyers are using the platform given the limited choices.

Just applied again for like the 5th time. Got a response that I was denied within 2 minutes, not even exaggerating TWO minutes. So apparently I’m being auto denied now. It really makes no sense because I perfectly fit all the criteria. Based on all these reviews it doesn’t look I’m alone though. Not sure what kind of wholesale platform this is ‘supposed’ to be if they deny almost every wholesaler, but I’m starting to question if it’s even legit!

Seems that Shopify does a little bait & switch with you. They lure you into building a store/site with them to sell wholesale and then denies you for Handshake...

It's pretty evident by all of the reviews that Handshake, if it wants to be successful, needs to review its seller requirements. For instance, we don't do a lot of turnover on our Shopify store because we're primarily a wholesale company who makes sales on 3rd party platforms to other retailers. For instance, we supply over 1,200 independent mom and pop shops, as well as larger companies, on wholesale platforms like Faire, etc. and we've been on Faire since they started practically. If Shopify/Handshake actually wants to make good on their investment they really need to review that. Most of the retailers we speak to don't consider Handshake as a legitimate sourcing option because of this and the brands currently on there don't really offer the broad spectrum that they could.

We have an independent brand, producing our our unique products, and respect all of Handshake's requirements. Yet 3 weeks after applying, we got a reply that we were denied with NO REASON given. If you deny a supplier, you need to at least say WHY!!!

They kept sending me the emails to show some low quality backyard joking work. Come on, show me so value to buy, not personal decor stuffs. This is a business and not your habit workshop. With 30+ year experience in fashion business, I can surely believe that the people behind this Handshake has no sense of business, nor fashion. just a group of jokers.

Our business sells at in person trade shows, and other more esteemed wholesale marketplaces such as Abound, Faire, Trada, etc. We are in over a 100 stores/boutiques across the country. Our products are handmade in the USA. We have a history of sales of course. Should I say more? It's frustrating, because we had felt that this marketplace had potential and because we had clearly met all their criteria but the truth of the matter is that we will have to move on because there's much more opportunity other places. Considering the sellers we did see on this marketplace, I would advise all buyers and prospective sellers to steer clear and go other places. Shopify is trying to get into this and they clearly can't. Their team is not qualified to distinguish between good and bad candidates. I will continue to speak out against this marketplace to many others I know in the same business and also on the ads that I see propagate in many different venues.

I applied to sell on Handshake and was denied. However no reason was given but there are products similar to what I sell on their and yet I am denied for no reason. The communication is poor and I honestly love Shopify and thought this would be a great opportunity however I was very wrong. I wish there was reasoning provided to the denial.

Shopify recommended Handshake on the home page. I installed the app and turns out it doesn't work outside of USA and now I cant uninstall. Everytime I click on Handshake under sales channel I get "Handshake is unavailable outside of US" and it doesn't show up under apps either. I don't see any option to uninstall.
