UX is pretty good, but you can't choose which images to optimise. So the free plan is quickly made useless as it just works on all images in the store - even those which are already optimised from a previous app. Also, you can't just run it in filename mode, it has to optimise (compress) as well, which is not right for our use case.

Poor user experience and very tricky. - When installing the app, you are immediately taken to a workflow that forces you to optimize all of your website photos regardless of whether you want to or not. - It won't let you see the "optimised" version in full size. - The free plan basically consumed in this initial "optimization" - The help centre has not been updated since 2018...

Easy app to use, does what it says by optimizing your pics within a set range and so far I'm happy with the results. I've used other optimizers so lots of my pics were already optimized and this app found an additional 1% BUT when I used it against good quality pics that weren't optimized, it save up to 90% in space, keeping good quality. If you don't like the results, just roll back. Thumbs up!

I installed an paid for the app because I had 8000+ images that slowed down my site. The app promised from 30% or more reduction but did not - less than 1% on each image is simply not worth paying for. Also I send a message to company before buying but they never answered. The app is too simple, the price is far too high compared to the simplicity of the app and the effect meaning reduction of size is not in any way the percent reduction they state it will do. Better use your money somewhere else.

Update: It seems that our emails arrived in spam. Once they caught them, they were super responsive and addressed our problem with a very good solution. So we are now satisfied with everything and can safely recommend the App. Original message: We used the application a few months ago, and we must admit that it worked well for us. However, we wanted to use it again recently and needed help from the team. After 1 month and 3 emails, we are still waiting for an answer... We wanted to become paying customers, but this does not give us confidence in case of problems in the future.

The app was not helpful at all. It pretty much messed up my images and I had to remove the app and reload all of my images. Then I was being for a few months after I uninstalled it. I had screenshots from Shopify that clearly stated that I had uninstalled but the developer kept arguing with me. I finally got reimbused but it was an ordeal.

This is such an excellent app! Exactly what I've been looking for, having tried various image compressing apps on Shopify. Image Optimizer is quick, transparent, user friendly with their nicely organized interface, and great customer support (got an answer to my question the next day - impressive given the time difference!). We sell antiques, art and collectibles, which means that we have thousands of high quality images floating on our website at all times and needing constant optimization. Image Optimizer helped me to solve a massive problem. Firstly the supplier photos that I received were HD and way too big, and using other tools on google didn´t compress the quality well enough. Their manual uploader function saved me alot of time messing around with other tools. Also Support reset my billing cycle for free because I had a load of images that I wanted to seperate from the main images but couldnt. so they let me optimize everything and gave me a free quota for the month. They even reply on weekends!

we have almost 2000 images on our website and it was slow! thought we had to send off the images to someone to compress and change to jpeg. that would have taken a lot of time to find the original images, send them out and drop them back in again. this app did it in 2 hours- AMAZING! And we still wanted even more speed in loading pages. Customer support is as good as the app and that's saying a lot. Vitalii logged in to our admin found a piece of coding from another app developer that was contributing to the slow down and then, with our permission, contacted the other developer. The App is definitely very handy but I suggest to anyone to compress and reduce to a reasonable amount pictures before uploading them, Image Optimizer is there to give you that extra compression saving and speed on your site. A no brainer app.

Best image optimizer app on the appstore! I have tried a handful. Easy to create templates for the layout of both file name and ALT text. The support even helped me to exclude to update ALT texts where an ALT text was already present if the text had a content of xxx. Even when my images (over 10 000) already was compressed by another app we have used, this app removed another 10 % of the size with no visible reduction of image quality. Amazing! The app itself works as it should with little effort on your part besides clicking a few buttons and letting the app do the work. I am more amazed with the help I received when trying to setup a new theme. The homepage was loading EXTREMELY slow. So, I contacted the support email as I thought to have the images optimized and this would speed things up. When I received an email back they offered to optimize the images manually. After optimizing the images they found that the slow loading speeds was not the images. They offered look into the theme and found the problem after doing multiple checks! I had contacted Shopify Support, the theme developer, the theme 3rd party designer I contracted and apps that I thought could be causing the issue. This app was the only company/person that looked into the issue and took the time to look into and help me fix it.

This app does what it should.. It saves bandwidth and increases page load speed. If you optimize your images before upload though, you can easily do everything this app does for free. However, I will keep it installed because the price is right. I wish it had functions to add/remove watermarks, or to resize/crop/etc each photo.

For some theme like mine (Fastor) banners are stored in Shopify Files (Shopify - Settings - Files). So that's why "It is currently impossible to optimize them with this app because Shopify doesn't give access to this type of files to any apps." Been using this product for a while and it worked great. When prepping large product launches I could kick it off and get my images sized right from day 1. When they added the feature that let you prepay with a balance and then automatically scan and adjust, I found that useful to catch images you may forget about - but hurt my ability to line up and process many images at once for a launch. I saved 192 megs on 528 images... 72%!. The app made it easy to do and it took a minimal amount of time to perform the task. ALSO, and importantly, contrary to another review, NO ALT TEXT WAS REMOVED. The app did not affect anything in the Alt Text or SEO. Last, the support staff contacted me immediately with my initial inquiries on operation, etc. The app also clearly allows you to RESTORE, View Details, Compare File Size...AND even compare the visual difference in files - ALL WITH A SIMPLE CLICK OF A BUTTON. Update 10/09/17: Updating my review from one star to four. Developer emailed after I posted my review and said my support request went into his spam folder and he didn't see it, explaining why he never responded. Offered to re-optimize the original images free of charge. I appreciate his effort to make things right. ---------------------- App worked fine, until I was having an issue with a few images and used the restore function to see if that made a difference. Turned out that after restoring all of my images and figuring out that wasn't the problem, there was no way to re-optimize those pics. I sent a support request asking if there was a way to do this, and no response after a week. They did, however, manage to send a request for a review during this time. I deleted this app and installed a different (and free) app that does the same thing but that allows you to optimize and restore the same pictures as many times as you want without issue.

Vitalii was super helpful answering all my questions. We ran image optimizer using lossless compression on more than 50k images. Image optimizer handled this large number without any issue. Without any degradation of image quality we saved around 10%. I know we could have saved even more had we gone with the lossy compression option. I would highly recommend image optimizer. Even if you have a large store it works very well.

Pretty cool app. I tested the website loading speed before installing, it was 3.70 seconds. After the app, it dropped to 2.65. Very easy to use, paid only 3.66 for all images I have ever uploaded on the website. Recommended!

great app, if you run a store 100% recommend doing this, the few cents it cost is worth it. The only recommendation i have would be on the dashboard, it would be great if it showed you the load time per page that was reduced. for example if before optimizing load time was 5 seconds and after optimizing load time went down to 3 seconds that would be great to see.

This is a good app, the price is reasonable to compress your pictures and the customer support responds back quickly. My only issue with the app is that it did not automatically compress images if you resized them and it doesnt allow you to edit or resize the image in the app only compress.
