We found this app was not suitable for a Non Shopify Plus store because it only allows for IP Country location. So an order placed in one country for delivery in another will not apply the tariffs to delivery country. And orders placed through a Starlink connection often get USA fees charged no matter what country they are being delivered to. App would probably be fine for Shopify Plus Stores where you can set up checkout shipping address as a condition.

An update: We have yet to use the app again, but based on the customer service experience I just had I have faith that the new team members behind the app are WAY better. I, like many others, receive many emails in a day. Often, emails from Apps I do not use/no longer use tend to get ignored. The team, specifically Volha, went as far as to send me flowers to show they really wanted a chance to improve on my experience. I have never had another company do that, and it genuinely showed me they are committed to trying to work with me on fixing the experience. From just that reason alone, my review went from 2-4. We attempted to use this to help us with Bottle Deposits and Recycling Fees. When I noticed that the fees were not applying properly, I reached out to support. The original response was very dismissive and unhelpful, and said the missing fees were not something that could be changed. This left us with a huge gap in being able to correctly use fees, and led us to move on to a different app.

I absolutely love the Upcharge App. I’ve been using it for over 6 years now and its allowed me to open up a new channel of sales by offering a rush service option for my products. Not only have I been able to earn extra income, the team (shout out to the Devs and Javid) have been so incredible and open to new features and listened to all my feedback. Recently they sent out an email asking if there was anything I could think of that they could do and improve on. I need an App to add extra handling fees at checkout, this was perfect app for me and it does not require me to subscribe to shopify high price plan or a yearly plan and I really appreciate their customer support " Javid " Later I needed to modify my product page to remove express checkout, they have an easy chat button i used and the AI was trying to help me but it was difficult for me to understand how to do this tech things, immediately Javid noticed that I was struggling with AI, so he jumped into the chat and within 2 min the problem was solved, I don't give 5 stars to any app, but honestly he earned it.

Just what I've been looking for to help with the new US tariffs! The app has been a lifesaver in being able to charge the US tariff fees that I'm now having to pay when shipping goods there. Despite watching all the helpful videos I was still stuck, so they went in and changed the necessary settings for me. Installed this app needing a solution for new tariff taxes/surcharges that now apply in varying amounts to select products (not all) we sell. The UI for this app is good and setup was straightforward. It would allow me to setup different % based or $ amount surcharges based on a variety of conditions, which suits our needs well. Basic setup was easy. There was some delay (minutes) before the first fee I created started showing up, but that was ok and once it showed up further changes worked instantaneously. Our % based fee for a specific product looked good on the Checkout page - the app adds a product, which is bundled with the applicable sale item and gives a clear picture of what the fee is for and amount in both %s and $s. Very dissatisified with presentation on the Cart page. We are using Pursuit theme and it added multiple CartItem__Property rows to the product listing in the cart, which would be fine except they contained div and parameter names (code) and were not user friendly. I was unable to find a solution for this on my own and could not wait for dev team to respond. There are some advanced setup options with no info or help available in the UI or app documentation, and I suspect it was these options that were causing our problems. I tried adding various divs to the fields but seemed to have no effect. While we wanted to use the required hidden fee option, I was not able to get any options to work (radio button, checkbox, drop down, etc.). Perhaps it was a compatibility issue with our theme (pursuit). The app is pretty invasive by adding exclusion conditions to numerous (but not all?) Product Collections in our store, which were NOT removed when I uninstalled and had to be removed manually. Update: The team responded very thoroughly and responded to the issues I experienced. Private line item properties are used to store and display detailed information about the surcharges during checking, which are supposed to be hidden from customer-facing views according to Shopify guidelines. So the fact that they are being displayed is an issue with the Pursuit theme we are using. A small code snippet can resolve this. The conditions that were displaying in the collections were a legacy feature that is no longer needed and was removed so future users won't have this issue.

This app did work but just did not do what we needed. And the support was clear and timely. Our issue was after uninstalling the app. They did correct our issue and support is in the process of cleaning up our site....for which we are grateful...thank you. For reference...The issue was the uninstall process not fully uninstalling the app and all that it created. Many days after uninstall, we noticed that we had two new collections (Fees Products and Products) showing up on our live site and the original add-on fee was still listed as a "product". These collections were generated by the app. In addition, the app adds a set of conditional formatting ("mws_fee_generated") to all of the collections. This was not removed with uninstall and we were concerned there were other code not removed after uninstalling. We could not figure out which app did this or what to do to solve this. We finally found out that it was this app from Mageworx. Took many hours to try and solve and sort out. Not something that we appreciated, but they did correct the issues. Uninstalling an app should clear the app and all that it created. Very poor execution on the uninstall process.

The app seems to be useful only for flat fees. For fees of a percentage, it's straight up mayhem. They create a product that is $0.01 and apply x number of them depending on the total cost in the cart. So if the total charge is $200, and you want to charge a 3% fee, that's $6 ... So it adds 600 of these 'fee products' charging 1 cent to your cart, so the customer's cart says 601 items in the cart. That's going to freak out some of my customers for sure, no thank you.

Great app, responsive support. Only issue is that it wasn't clear this would not work for adding brokerage, tariff & customs fee as % of cart total. I was hoping to use this to add our prepaid customs and tariff costs, as we export to USA from Canada and we prepay all of the extra costs involved with crossing border. It does calculate the fee but I expected the fee could be shown as a line item after subtotal, or at least as last item in the cart. Instead it's simply mixed in with cart items. So in conclusion, only useful for 'Optional' fees such as add a service, custom add-on, insurance etc...

All around "good app", however: Unfortunately, after a few months of use, the app stopped geo-locating our customers. Support assured me they had a new version in the works and that they would not let us down. Fast forward a few months, our team has to single-handedly edit every order that comes in to request more money from the customers after-the-fact, since the app did not add the required fees. This is still not fixed. Being a developer myself, I offered my help to feed the app the proper geo-location from another API on the frontend, myself. This was turned down on their part. I feel there is no resolution to this, as we are patiently waiting for them to update the app. Support is usually very good, Angelika answers very well to every question.

This app works great for us and also gives us flexibility in how we charge different types of fees, whether it's a percentage fee, flat fee, hidden fee or another option. Support is amazing for both technical help, answering general questions and giving tips. Update: Unfortunately this app ended up being rather unreliable in the long run. If you have a small store, this might work. However, for larger stores the consistency of the fee being applied is spotty. Also, the way the app adds the fee is not ideal with products needing to be created each time.

Very powerful and versatile app. A great tool if you want to add fees for your payments methods for example as Shopify doesn't not allow to modify the 'payment pages'. You can also save money with this app as you can add extra fees for shipping so you do not have to pay for a separate app for that. Unlimited possibilities. The fact you can make a field mandatory and add rules allow you to apply fees to some of your customers only based on their group, country, the amount of the cart etc. I like the fact you can apply fees to the cart or by products too. A lot of possibilities. I used mine to apply fees when clients are paying in installments with Credit Cards (x2,x3,x4) and fees are adjusted according to their 'discount tag' and options are displayed based on the total cart amount. The team is amazing and will help you to tailor made the app for your website. I have been impressed by their reactivity, patience and support. Wrote a review earlier regarding no response from the team and issues with the app. However that was fully my mistake and i created multiple tickets for them with different emails. The app devs are super responsive, followed up with my review and I was able to see how I caused confusion due to multiple emails. They resolved the issue I was facing right away with their developers. And not only that they found an issue I may have faced because of how my website is set up and they proactively looked to resolve that. Even though it wasn't something that they needed to do. I've tested multiple apps, paid a developer to custom code a feature that didn't work. And out of everything this is the best for the function I was looking for. The app is great and it works for what I'm looking for and i give it a 5/5. But the app developers and support team really impressed me with their level of support and I would give them a 10/5. They went beyond what I would have expected and I will definitely use another app by this team if it fits my needs.

This app was a huge waste of time. They edited code on our theme and the app did not work properly. After we reverted to saved version it caused a lot of other problems which cost us 20+ hours to fix!! I would not recommend this app for the following reasons. 1. We were very clear about how we wanted a handling fee added to our website and was told it was possible. Once we downloaded the app and gave them access to our code they made changes and told us the fee was possible but not in the way we had wanted (after messaging with their support and confirming it was possible before giving them access to our code). I found this to be dishonest and an attempt by them to sell us the app instead of being honest upfront. 2. The app requires you to change the code of your store. This is the only app i have found that requires you to change code in your theme. Most professional apps are developed in a way that does not require this. 3. No live support. When the function did not work properly there was no way for us to reverse the changes, we had to wait for them to get on line and trust they would fix it. Only email back and forth after hours of waiting. 4. The handling fee function did not work the way they sold it to us. Orders under $50 were supposed to have $5 handling fee. We tested it multiple times adding items to the cart and removing items and the fee is not consistent. There were times the cart was over $50 and it would add the fee. There were times the cart was under $50 and it would not add the fee. Unprofessional app and sold in dishonest way. If they only told us the app would not do exactly what we wanted it would have saved everyone time and one less negative review. Instead they were more concerned with getting another download and monthly fee. Their 4.3 rating says a lot. After a lot of trial and error with shopify apps I won't be using any apps with less than 4.9 going forward.

I sell beverages and was able to use this app to add a bottle deposit fee to my cart. There are small things that could be improved but the core of the app works great. Support was fantastic. I'd recommend this app!

This app definitely does what it says, and once its all configured it works great! However, it took a bunch of trial and error and time with support to make it work the we intended. I would give it a 5 star rating if they fixed their documentation so it was clear. Here are a couple of things we learned: 1) If you are going to use this for handling fees or fees that apply to every product, then you'll be using the HIDDEN FEE type, to make it work correctly you need to make sure to click the "DEFAULT" button for every one of the hidden fee type or they won't be applied, even when you rule would appear to do so. This is no where in the documentation, but should be. 2) You cannot affect the sort order or where the fees are shown in the cart, so they are not group or placed in alphabetical order. This means that the cart looks a little random. We wanted the fees to be shown after the products they applied to, but were told no can do! It really doesn't make any sense, and I'm sure if you could edit the code for your cart you could figure it out. Other than these the app works well and does as its advertised!

The staff was amazing, until Black Friday, when they were unresponsive, and the app stopped working properly. It failed to charge a processing fee on every cart, it randomly charged the fee even when all the settings were correct (the staff at MageWorx set up the fee for my store themselves.) Avoid this app. For every item fee you want to add it creates an entirely new/separate "product" that appears in your cart, which is unbelievably ugly and confusing to customers. So if you've got 10 actual products in your cart, you've also got 10 fee "items" in your cart, on the receipt/invoice, etc. It's a really poor way to go about adding item fees and it blows me away that anyone thought to create an app around it. Granted, it is probably this way due to their inability to do anything on the Checkout pages (Shopify rules), but its still a pretty awful. It also creates an unbelievable number of products in your database. I only have 7 real products and I've already spent the last 15 minutes deleting, literally, hundreds of these things. I'm giving this two stars because the support can be helpful. They did a good bit of customization for me, perhaps knowing how awful their app is, but in the end it just wasn't enough. I hired an expert who customized code in about 30 minutes that is lightyears beyond what this app does. And while support can be helpful, if you're in the US, beware -- they're in Belarus and so the end of their day is 11am PST, if you're lucky. So unless you want to wake up at 3am every day to try to get this working, you have to wait 24 hours, usually, for a response to any question you have. Pretty painful stuff. We were glad to be rid of it.

We use this app to add a cart fee during checkout. It works quite well and the support team is super responsive! I wish there was a little more opportunity for customization (our cart fee needs more details to describe it and there is a strict character limit). The cart fees work by generating products, which can seem a little confusing on the backend, but the benefit is that the cart fee shows up everywhere we need it to (work orders, confirmations, etc.). Overall would recommend this for a solution to cart fees and we have definitely seen this app pay for itself with the increased revenue.

Customer service is friendly, quick, and extremely helpful. They were also very patient with us since we have very little understanding of coding and the technical side of Shopify in general. This is a fraudulent offer, after a week requesting help for the installation, they tell me that their application only works in the Shopify store, but not in the purchase buttons that one inserts in their own website. This last I realized myself because their technical support did not have the slightest idea of why the product did not work. I do not recommend it.

It just works, and for that, we're thankful. It's highly customizable with every condition you could want to pick where and when the fees apply. But most impressive of all is the customer service. We had some issues with the initial setup, and they just took over and fixed it for us. Then we asked about moving the position of the order fee in the cart, and they just did it for us. When 3M introduced a new premium Paint Protection Film product (ProSeries), we were looking for a way to offer the upgrade on all our kit products. Shopify limits variants to three, so this App saves a major rebuild of our site. Product Fee allows us to offer the upgrade. The option to upgrade appears when a kit is added to the shopping cart. We found set up of the app rather complex, and there were some bugs to work out, but MageWorx took care of all the issues with prompt responses.
