Every app has its nuances and some are horrible, but SC Product Options is much more robust than I first understood. I just finished setting it up. I had difficulties with some things and the customer service staff were always ready to help. Not all were as proficient as I needed but they were committed and we resolved all my problems. A big shout out to Cristian who really went the extra mile to troubleshoot and correct problems.

I have the premium version. It’s got a lot of really cool options that I have just begun to figure out. I had an issue late at night (midnight) and hit the support chat icon. Within a few minutes I was met with an efficient person who was able to resolve my issue in less than 10 minutes. They were able to correct the issue and make it do exactly what I wanted, update the product price when adding options.

We wouldn't be able to pull off all the complex customization we need for our apparel decorating site without SC Product Options. The best part is the support. Real developers go out of their way to push thier application to the limits to accomodate custom requests. I contacted support several times to reproduce a very simple feature. At first, they confirmed it was possible with the Premium plan, and even said they could set it up for me directly. I agreed, gave them access to my store, and waited several days. Result: nothing was done. Each time, a new agent took over the conversation without reading the previous messages, and I had to explain everything again from the beginning. After hours of chat and multiple promises (“it’s in progress,” “our developer is handling it,” “you’ll be notified within 1–2 days”), they finally told me that it wasn’t possible with the current app and that they were no longer accepting custom development requests. In summary: The team made me waste a lot of time with contradictory information. No solution was ever implemented, even though my request was crystal clear. The app is very slow to load (over 10 seconds per page). The support team makes promises they don’t keep. I strongly advise against this app until it becomes more stable and the support team acts more professionally.

Been using this app for our custom products for almost two years now and haven't had any issues until we decided to switch themes. For some reason the product add-ons were not showing up on cart page, and customer support quickly helped us address the issue. S/o to the tier 2 support, Ahmed, Deelen, Manoj, Kenan + Team who were able to resolve the problem. Edit: Had another issue regarding option sets not appending and Saro + Vishal were very helpful in solving the problem and managed to have it fixed in a week.

This app worked well for us 7 plus years, but recent updates have caused problems. Previously, you could easily view all selected products under an "option set" by clicking on "review products". Now when you click on review products, it just shows every product in the store. If you had no clue what was assigned to this option set, you would have to continually scroll through all of your products which is pain if you have larger inventories. You can use the search bar to find products within "option set", but you might find only a few of the selected products you are looking for. While you can search individual products under "product search" to see their assigned options sets. Nothing shows all of the products under the option set. You may have to guess around & make note of what is selected on your own end and hopefully it adds up to the number of products selected that it tells you. I couldn't recommend this app to those who have large inventories.

We installed Product Options back in 2013 when BoldApps managed it. Had minimal issues up until ShipCircle took over. Started having issue after issue. Back in 2024 we started experiencing app incompatiblity with Shopify's update and Shop Circle was clueless about their own app. I was promised "fix" after "fix" for months with no improvement. They didn't even know their own features offered on their upgraded plan. We lost thousands of dollars in revenue and discovered that Shopify doesn't stand behind their app developers OR store owners. I recently switched over to BigCommerce for numerous reasons and my only regret is that I didn't switch sooner. Major game changer for our business. The reps are helpful and actually care. Their knowledge base is amazing. I was a Shopify customer for 10+ years and their customer support is non-existent. BigCommerce is the way to go to prevent ALOT of frustration and wasted time.

UPDATED REIVEW; User beware, the new owners of this app have consistently made sweeping changes that either make the admin experience worse, or break things with no warning. Like making a change to how an option type is displayed to the customer, and then telling us they can't roll back the change and we have to use a work around to undo the pointless change they made. Or changing how options are applied to products, and then not telling us that updating any option set would cause those options to be applied to all products in our store, unless we went through the time consuming process of reselecting the products. They pushed an update they knew would break things and decided to make it our job to migrate to the new selection system it instead of doing it automatically. TLDR; Don't get invested in this app, especially if you are a power user / have products with lots of options. Shop Circle keeps making the app worse and they haven't added any new features since they took over. Only removed quality of life features and generally made it worse. ORIGINAL 4 STAR REVIEW; Thank you to Jeff and his team for solving an occasional issue we were having. Occasionally priced option variants wouldn't be in the cart when the customer checked out. The support team fixed this not only for our live store, but also for our development mode testing store. Thanks again! Now if only they could add some quality of life features and proper integration with a few of the apps BOLD still owns.

Our store depends heavily on this app. We offer build to order products that customers have to provide their choice of options, as well as information regarding what our products need to fit. This app provides that in an easy to use format, and our customers seem to have very little trouble with the interface on the product listings. We've used this app for 6+ years now without many issues. They assist with site theme update issues within a couple of days. Customer service chats are fast and helpful. The app is pretty easy and straight-forward to use and build your product option forms. It continues to improve, showing the company is serious about their product staying relevant. If you sell build-to-order products, this is probably the app you need.

Multiple issues with the recent updates. I had about 200 dynamic filters set up that worked fine for years. After doing a shop sync since the update, a bunch of options that were not supposed to be on items were. So I had 100s of product listings with multiple option sets showing that were not supposed to be on them. I had to go through every single option set and update the dynamic filter. I spent HOURS going through and fixing options that I never had any problems with before they did a bunch of app updates.

The app is great for allowing customization. There are some front-end learning curves, but the chat support feature has been a great tool for any questions I have. At the moment, I cant recommend this app to anyone. We have been using this app for some years and the problem since start is that the app cant translate currencies at all. They will change the currency symbol (for the language visiting) but the digits will be the same. This means 1000 SEK will look like 1000 EURO with this app. This will scare customers and it makes us lose orders all the time. Second problem is that this app is not compatible with any of the most common language translate apps. I have talked with the app developer about a solution for this problems for about 2 years. This year they say they hope to fix this by the end of the year. Now I have contacted them 3 times, asking for status, asking for payed extra service, and asking (last time) for a desperate alternative solution for our store. They dont respond to anything. We are really sad that we have invested so much time in this app as it seams the developers dont really care about it. On top of all, the set-ups and data in this app cant be migrated to any other options app. This is really bad.

Worst app I've used so far, which is very unfortunate for an app that costs $39.99 per month. NOTHING just works, every single minor change I wanted I had to contact support. Then it would get escalated and take up to 48hrs to make the small changes. Also not a lot of options for customization available. You cant change a lot of sizes colors or anything really. Conditions can't be easily added to other sets, super time consuming.

BEWARE: FIND ANOTHER APP - Note that many recent one star reviews are from stores using the app for 4-8 years. That certainly says something! When this was Bold Product Options, it was great—issues were resolved quickly, often within an hour. It worked flawlessly for 5+ years, then suddenly broke recently and support is now painfully slow: tier one forwards to someone else, which takes 6-8 hours before that person replies. I'm extremely disappointed after 48 hours of my outage and the lack of urgency by them! I'll be avoiding any app made, or powered by, SC - Shop Circle from now on!

The app does a great job and has added quite a bit of revenue to our site by allowing an easy way for customers to add small upgrades to their order. Updated Review: We were on the premium plan with the Bold PO app and have experienced a significant decline in quality of customer service and the app in general since SCPO acquired it. At first we were excited that they reduced the monthly price point for the premium version by $10/month, but it has come with a serious cost... Since April 2024, we have encountered issues with incorrect orders, missing required fields, and improper customer charges. Despite customer service's attempts to fix these problems through coding changes, the issue was not resolved and it took over a month of back-and-forth communication to finally have it fixed. Unfortunately, since that time we have started to have other issues pop up related to the code changes that SCPO made to the site when attempting to troubleshoot our issue in April. Shopify and our theme developer have confirmed the issues are related to those changes made in April, however SCPO said that is not true. As they were unable to assist, I had to seek assistance from an outside tech person to address the issue that they stated they could not find evidence of. Recently, I again noticed an issue where if someone is changing dropdown menu fields that have a price adjustment attached to them, that the pricing is not always updating correctly on the product. Sometimes it states a price much lower or much higher than it truly should be. I also was not able to add this product to my cart. I sent video evidence of this to customer service and they said they would need to pass it on to the developer to review. I just received an email from the development team not addressing my stated issues whatsoever and telling me that the app is working as it should when this is simply not true. I am beyond frustrated at having an app that I pay $40/month for and my tech issues are not thoroughly investigated, the responses I receive fail to address the issues at hand, and they repeatedly dismiss concerns of which there is video evidence that they do, indeed, exist. SCPO, it is time for your developers and customer service team to do better and support your clientele. ------- Previous Review: We have been using this app for about the past 6 months. We utilize the Premium version and for what it is, it is quite pricey; being the only app we found that will alter the pricing at the top of the page with variants, they have a corner on the market, however. For $50/month the easy of editing variants could be better. Another large drawback of the app is that you cannot utilize currency selectors for customers as Bold variants will not adapt, resulting in undercharging of customers and lost revenue. Customer service has been fair as well as overall experience. Again, biggest issue would be premium pricing is $$$$ for what it is.

This app and the support is terrible. What you can do on your own is very limited and when you need help for basic things, they ask for money to code it for you. They are based in Europe so it's impossible to get support and solutions when you need it. I just downloaded this app a few days ago and I am now going to uninstall it because it's useless. Also they book an onboarding call with you and then don't show for the call. It's a waste of time and money. Not only that, the app would not even install properly the first few days. There are other apps out there with much better support without upsells.

2024 Update: I used to like this app when it was still run by a company called Bold Apps. Then, it seems they sold it to some company called Shop Circle and it's terrible now. I've installed a new theme and I had to get them to reinstall their app on it. It's been a nightmare - at first, it looks like everything is done, then you find out that there are things wrong all over the place and so you try to get them to fix it. They say they fixed it, then you find something else wrong somewhere else - OVER and OVER again. And it's not like one person is helping you - you get passed from one person to another, everyone doing a piece here, a piece there. I'm really upset and thinking about removing this app completely. So disappointing. --------------------------------- Previous review: I normally really LOVE Bold Apps and I think they're a good company, but this app definitely has some issues that they can't seem to fix for me. In particular, the app seems to randomly apply the options to some products and not others, giving me and my customers a very inconsistent experience. When I try to contact Bold, they are "kind of" helpful, but the thing is, I get passed from one rep to another and often have to explain the problem over and over again. I also feel that the reps do not read my messages carefully, because sometimes they make suggestions for things that I've already tried doing, which makes me feel like I'm wasting my time. I'm STILL trying to get it to work properly, after having it for over a month and paying for the $20 subscription. It's been a frustrating experience, but I'm hoping that Bold will try to improve this product, because so far, I don't feel like it's "there" yet.

Good options app that after 8 years of using needs development. It doesn't work with Shopify Markets. Your option prices are either showing including VAT/TAX to everyone around the world, or they aren't. Also it doesn't work with Translator Apps, so your Product page descriptions etc are translated but your options aren't. If you are just selling in one country, with one tax system in one language, it's a great Options app which have used for a while. Also on the plus side, really quick responses from the support team, whom since they have been taken over by Shop Circle, knock BOLD out the park in terms of quick support. Unfortunately, I now have to get something off my chest. The app actually always worked perfectly! After a new theme update, the live theme was duplicated. In the backup, an attempt was now made to reinstall the app with the automatic installation. I was informed that the automatic installation did not work. In addition, the formatting of the Live Theme was completely destroyed. The backup theme was explicitly selected, but the live theme was also attacked. The support does not consider it necessary to fix this error, instead you are only put off that it will take a little more time. Who will pay for the damage caused by your mistake?

We used the Premium version of Bold Product Options and it worked great for over a year. After being acquired by SC, this app became unusable and extremely slow. It now takes more than 48 hours for a new option to show up on our store, if at all. Support is very helpful and quick to respond, but they claim custom coding is needed almost every time, which defeats the purpose of the app. Very unfortunate to see this app fall apart after the acquisition and we've tried to make it work, but we're going with a different option that has a much better UI (and more than half the cost).

I've been using this app for years and while it takes some initial set up, it is also extremely versatile. I tried every app for options and this has been the best by far for our store's needs (customized products with engravings and all kinds of upgrades and options). We have a bunch of apps, and this is the only one I would consider irreplaceable. We had a bit of an uncommon an issue with how the engraving text would display on our end when the customer placed an order. I asked SC if they could help change the character they use to seperate lines on their multi line product option from a comma (,) to a pipe (|) so there would be less ambiguity when a customer had an actual comma in their engraving. Danko from SC replied super quick and had coded up a custom fix for our store that worked in less than a day. He was super helpful in his response as well, giving detailed instructions on how we could preserve or reapply his fix in the event we update or change our theme in the future. So not only a great app, but fantastic customer service as well.

Used to be a good plugin until today. My product option on my website suddenly not working. It was all ok all the while and we have zero clue what happened. I didn't notice this app was no longer under Bold until this happened. My team and I were trying to contact their support via email, chat, and any way we could. They greet you but when asking about our problem, they do not reply at all. My site relies heavily on this app and they are highly unprofessional when dealing with customers. This is not a free plugin so I do expect someone can help me solve the problem not creating a headache for me. Not recommend for anyone.

For the most part I am happy with this app. It is the most robust version out there, however it has some sync times that seem long and it does occasionally get buggy. The customization ability with Product Options are very impressive and the ability to have basically unlimited options and option sets as well as conditional logic really makes this app work well for my business. Recently I had an issue that took 5 hours to resolve due to an inability to contact the service team. However once I was able to connect with Saro A, she was able to immediately resolve my issue perfectly! Thank you Saro! It was very appreciated!

Update: Feb 15, all of my stores options disappeared but thankfully someone was able to log into my store to fix the code within 20 min. Last night Feb 2, 2024 The app again stopped adding options to products. I tried the same trick of changing the cache's last two digits in the code as they instruct on their website and that didn't work. And I can't use their Refresh App with Shopify button within the app because it will WIPE out all product options for my entire store and they don't warn people about this before hand. I gave them permissions and the options are still "waiting to refresh" 24 hours later. Speaking to customer service will get you frustrated because it seems like no one is actually listening to the issue and they keep recommending the same tricks that I've already explained that I tried or can't because of a bug within the app. I may need to move on and try the competing app offered in the Shopify store. I've used this app since 2016 when it was under BOLD Apps before ShopCircle took it over and I've had nothing but issues since then. Jan 17th 2023 For the first time in 3 years the app within Shopify went down tonight and will NOT load. All of my product options for my products are not showing and this needs to be fixed. I now get within Shopify Admin a grey page that says: options.shopapps.site refused to connect. I've checked a few stores that also have product options running and it's not affecting all shops, only some of us which makes me think I'm not on a good server. They stated they had server issues and that it's fixed but now product changes are taking over 45 minutes to refresh. Still waiting for answers but just getting canned cut and paste responses. ---------------------------------------- After speaking with Alina from Shop Circle, she was able to get the required changes made and make it look a bit more seamless than it was on the initial install. I'm happy with the changes made and look forward to another 3 years of use. ----------------------------- After having this app for 3 years under Bold and it working perfectly, the app was sold off to a company named Shop Circle. At this point I'm not that impressed and I'm concerned that the service isn't the same as the previous company. I've been left hanging with an open request to install the app on a new Shopify 2.0 theme and it's the only thing holding me back from being able to publish my store. They'll also just log in, makes changes and disappear without a word still leaving the app not functional nor addressing my initial concerns for what needed to be integrated.

I've been using this app for at least six years, with only a few minor bugs under bold control. Since Shop Cycle took over the app, there have been more issues than one would consider acceptable, and service has deteriorated; they requested access to my store four days ago to see if they could solve it, and they have yet to access it. I made modifications six days ago, and they still have not been updated. This is not the first time we've experienced syncing issues that took days to showup. On one occasion, our options simply disappeared, and we had to re-add them. Definitely not the app it used to be.

HORRIBLE. After using Bold Product Options for years it was bought by Shop Circle. From the beginning, it was impossible to get them to answer emails and get customer support. Literally weeks of no answer to multiple requests. then I changed themes on Shopify to common Dawn theme. The liquid disappeared from the order reports despite being in the front end. easy enough I thought, just request they add the liquid. They said I need to upgrade to V2, so I did. Then the shopify orders report shows a million codes and snippets...they say nothing can be done with that. Then the formatting of options got all weird. Then all my conditional logic disappeared. Then dropdowns show auto select. Then pricing color fonts just randomly changed colors. Then dropdown box sizes were running across all the page. etc etc. ALL OF THIS WAS HAPPENING RANDOMLY....THE SITE WOULD APPEAR FINE THEN THESE WOULD HAPPEN. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD TO THROW AWAY 5 THEMES BECAUSE OF BAD FORMATTING AND NOW THE SITE RUNS 5 POINTS SLOWER. EVERY TIME I HAD SOMEONE FROM THEM TOUCH MY SITE IT WAS A DISASTER. STAY AWAY.

I have been a loyal user of Bold Options for over 4 years, and during that time, it was a reliable and effective tool for my store. However, my recent experience with their service has left me extremely disappointed and frustrated. The trouble began when I decided to refresh my store with a new theme. Contacting Shop Circle to help with the app installation on the new theme was where the problems started. It became apparent that the transition to Shop Circle has significantly impacted the competence and efficiency of their support team. I reached out to the support team, specifically contacting Khushbu, Jeff, Nisha, and Nicholas, hoping for a prompt and effective resolution. However, the support I received was not only horrendously slow but also unhelpful , all of them said that they were working on it and will contact me when fix, but they never did. The inability of the support team to address and resolve the issues I've encountered has left me with no choice but to explore alternative solutions for my store. For $50 a month...this app should be 100%. I've had nothing but trouble with this app, and the way you have to set it up is so painful...that you end up being stuck with it for a LONG time before you invest the time to switch to something else. Every time I make a product update...I have to contact support and they have to manually fix it. And I know what I'm doing, I'm quite tech savvy. This app is buggy. Their customer service team is fantastic, I'd give 5 stars for that aspect...they try their best to help you and are quick...but they can only help with so much when the app itself has consistent system errors.

UPDATE: After submitting my review and describing this flaw publicly, the app developer reached out to set-up a web meeting in order to fully understand and work on a fix for this issue. After a few weeks of back and forth and rigorous testing, I'm a happy to report that the developer has successfully resolved this flaw. I'm therefore updating my rating accordingly. If they are able to address another limitation that I've had with this app over the years, it'll be a perfect rating from me. We'll see what happens... --- WARNING! I've been using BOLD Product Options for over 6 years on 2 different Shopify stores and it's been great...until now. When recently integrating it into my newest (3rd) Shopify store, I've discovered a substantial flaw that's new to the app. If you update any of your product/variant prices within your Shopify product database, all product options that use the product will NOT receive the updated pricing. In the past, you were able to click on a 'Sync with Shopify' button which would update all products/pricing within your product option sets. This no longer works. After communicating with support, they have confirmed that the only way to have the pricing update is by manually re-saving your individual product options. So basically, the app functionality has been rendered useless for anyone that has the need to update their product pricing. Manually re-saving hundreds of product options anytime you have pricing updates is not exactly efficient. So this being said, if you plan on having a large amounts of products and product options sets, and will have the need to update your product pricing in the future, this is NOT the solution for you. Until they resolve this critical issue, I can no longer recommend this app.

Bold is really doing some cool things with Shopify apps, I wonder when Shopify will just decide to go ahead and buy them and roll their functionality into the Shopify core offering... They really help out with their live chat support, too.

I have used the app for years and it works really well for my store's needs. I recently had some order details not come through, used the online chat and spoke with Jeff who discovered the issue quickly and then fixed it for me. The problem was the Shop Pay checkout that Shopify added. Great experience overall with this app.

I had an issue where customers were purchasing custom products without selecting any of the options that were set on my Bold Product Options App. I figured it had something to do with the new theme we had just implemented, so I contacted the Shop Circle support team to take a look at the issue. It randomly gives products away for free. A few weeks ago we were looking at some orders and noticed that Bold was not adding the up-charges to the order. It added the parts to the order fine and we fulfilled them but the customer was getting them for 0$. Since we have found over $5000 in free items Bold gave away. Customer service has been less than helpful. Downright idgaf attitude to trying to fix it. look at other apps.
