The recent Retail Barcode Labels update removed our ability to print SKU on Avery 5167 labels. We manufacture hundreds of visually similar products. Printing only barcode and price substantially increases the likelihood of mislabeling inventory. We'd like this functionality restored or our store opted out of the new template restrictions.

Worked better than expected. The reviews, cautions, and compatibility notes made me concerned. However, The ability to filter and select specific products or ANY products to generate barcodes worked well. I didn't have any to start with so overwriting wasn't an issue. The ability to select what will print on each barcode based on the size of the label was helpful and easy to modify and test different templates. Definitely test and learn the character length of product titles, SKUs, and variants for your label size. The app does a decent job at resizing the text to fit the best it can up to a certain point. And I have a Rollo printer that I typically use for 4x6 shipping labels. We purchased 2x1 labels, used the Zebra settings in the app, selected the products we needed barcodes for, and generated a PDF. I printed the PDF using my Rollo thermal printer and they were perfectly aligned every time. I'm glad I didn't need to buy a new label maker. My only wish is that I could change the font (because I'm a designer and we just like to do that). I love that the app is free and ended up being exactly what I needed. We used the labels on the back of custom tags for our in-store merchandise to be sold using the Shopify POS system.

Even though I'm using the same small Dymo template, all of a sudden my barcodes are longer and a different font. This is a major problem as it changes the whole layout of our product. How can I get my normal template back, and how can I speak to someone to help - no links or helpdesk available.

I love this app, however, I am extremely displeased about the current font change. Please change it back ASAP or allow us to choose our own font. Bonjour, J'utilise l'application Retail Barcode Labels avec Shopify et elle fonctionne globalement bien, mais il manque quelques options importantes pour les utilisateurs français. Le principal problème concerne l'affichage du prix : le symbole € est placé à gauche du montant (exemple : €19,99), alors qu'en France il doit être affiché à droite (exemple : 19,99 €). Il serait également intéressant d'ajouter davantage d'options de personnalisation pour les étiquettes, comme le positionnement du prix, la taille des textes, et la mise en page des informations produit. Merci pour votre travail et j'espère voir ces améliorations dans une prochaine mise à jour.

Works great if only needing to print a barcode here or there. There is no way to print barcodes from Purchase orders, making large PO's almost impossible to manage if there are a lot of products without barcodes. I now have to go into over 200 variants by hand and print individual barcode labels. Rather than being able to pull data from a PO.

Overall this app does its job for me. Now with the updated Purchase Orders function in shopify, I think it would be helpful if you could link it to the app and have it automatically create labels based on incoming products & quantities. I've asked for this a few years ago but it never came to fruition. Hoping that this could be added soon!

Currently there is an option to "set number of labels to match number of items in stock" however I want to print a certain number per barcode to export and send to suppliers. Currently I have to go through 1-by-1 and input the number 1 for every barcode when this could be a simple toggle "Set all barcodes to print X number" I have nearly 2000 barcodes so this is time consuming to do it 1-by-1

UPDATE: The developers brought back the set to zero and it's so much better!! Thank you. Works like a charm and is a great simple to use app. I use DYMO label printers and have multiple printers and styles of labels and this app works with all the configurations I have. OLD review: It is useful, but a recent update made using this plug-in app more work than it used to be. Now if i want to print labels for one variant of a product out of say, 20, i have to go through 19 product variants and set all the quantitiy of labels to zero manually. there used to be a link to click to set all labels to zero but that's gone and the default is one. this would be four stars if they would bring options back to set default to zero or allow the admin to configure default settings.

The default for printing stickers has changed from zero to one. Quite often just need to print 1 sticker for item returned etc Seems that a lot of business have complained but also seems that you are not going to do anything re this. At least can you put a box at top of this section that we can tick to put all values to zero ?

The new update defaulting to one label for every product is infuriating. I print labels only to find out that I am short labels for EVERY. SINGLE. PRODUCT. and need to repeat the process again. This is a pointless update (regardless of your weird justification in response to the other negative reviews on this matter) that needs to be reversed. I'm looking for other barcode apps as we speak. Do better.

The Auto check of every product when I go to print just ONE label is a pain. I spend more time unclicking the products . It is a HORRIBLE DEFAULT. PLEASE go back to leaving them all as ZERO.

It's crazy that this cannot be used as a POS app. We want store managers and staff to be able to print basic barcodes in store without having to leave the POS app. This seem like another basic function missing from Shopify's core POS offering.

WHHYYYY did we change the font/size/template of the labels? There is no selection of fonts for us to select from, and the new one today looks too large for my tags I've been using for two years! The font is thick and bulky, limiting to even fewer characters on the title line. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK. and I agree, the default to one label prior to printing is annoying. Why this app doesn't work when you create a purchase order in shopify is BEYOND me. Having inventory accuracy is super important and if we could just print right from the purchase order window we could ensure items were getting the correct labels. As it is now we have to print tags from the product page and then receive the items on a PO - it's a second step that should be easy to remedy. EDIT: Six years and we still don't have an option to print barcode labels from Purchase orders. My staff HATE the new "feature" where every variant now defaults to a single label. We have to zero out the quantity to print before selecting the correct number of labels to print. Please restore the default to ZERO LABELS!

The quantity use to default to 0 and now it defaults to 1. So now we have to delete every single variant we don't want to print to 0 it out. Why did this change? Please change default qty of labels per variant to 0.

I try to use the larger size templates but it wont scale properly. It seems like it can only create barcode that are 2x1 and when i try to bump it up to 3.5 or 4 it will not create a barcode to fit it. Why offer the larger size as a template if it can not create a barcode to fit? UPDATE: It's a helpful app for creating barcodes but it needs to be able to support a larger label for carton barcode creation.

The barcodes generated from this app use the last 8 numbers from the variant URL in Shopify so occasionally it creates duplicates. This wasn't a major problem when I had a small inventory. I would delete the new products with duplicate barcodes and recreate them (the only fix I'm aware of). Now since my catalog has expanded I'm regretting not going with a paid barcode generator as I get a lot of duplicates and changing to a new provider will break reporting and syncing with other platforms. It seems that this problem could be fixed by the developers if they added more characters to the barcode instead of only using 8 characters.

This app does with a Rollo printer! I found a tutorial on YouTube to help me get barcode labels to print from this app on my Rollo printer. My laptop is quite ancient, so I have to use the Shopify app on my phone to create the labels and send them to my bluetooth Rollo. It's a little cumbersome, but it works and it's FREE!

Honestly a life saver, we sell to grocery stores so I just buy my own UPCs online instead of letting the app generate their own. I just wish there was an option to print the barcodes of an entire order instead of having to go into the app every time and hand select what the order calls for, since I sell products on demand per order. The most basic label printing, not customizable. Can't include all the information needed on the size label we use. Other paid label printing apps are able to put everything we need on the size label we use, so it's possible.

Being free is the only good thing. Why would a barcode app that generates barcodes generate duplicates? That should not be possible. More disappointing though is the print quality from Shopify is terrible. We use a Dymo label printer and these barcode look awful and some wont even scan. If you print the exact same barcode through the Dymo desktop app it's flawless. What is Shopify doing to cause the barcodes to loose such quality? A fix for this would great.

We are having issues with duplicate barcodes constantly. This is a major issue that is time consuming to fix and costs us money to print new tags all the time after discovering duplicate barcodes. We even use the app to create all of our barcodes and it still generates duplicates on a regular basis.

Edited to add: yes that is what I said in my original review ->When using the app to create barcodes for items without a barcode, the system duplicates barcodes for several variants. We now have to recode and reprint. Not sure of the purpose of using a generator if we have to manually search for duplicates. It doesn’t work properly. I have had the issue with several different products.

Obviously I'm grateful to have this, it's indispensable for a brick-and-mortar with 2000 products. But it has a lot of unfortunate quirks that can be inconvenient in that environment. It won't populate fields if they contain certain combinations of punctuation marks. It won't render barcodes if that field has certain placements of space characters in it. Now and then it hangs or crashes when generating new barcodes for labels, and you have to start your print workflow all over again. Conversely, if it suddenly loses all functionality, it still indicates it's working. And you can go mad trying to work around those outages, but you just have to wait for the server to go back up.

This app will no longer create barcodes for me. I have cleared my cache, reloaded my shopify, only selected one item at a time to create barcodes, and done the selection for create barcodes for all products with out barcodes. Nothing seems to work after trying 10x and the robot has offered all these suggestions-which I have done with no avail. Additionally, the app also don't not print multiple varients on my 1x1 labels. I am trying to switch over from lightspeed for my pos system, and lightspeed was able to get all my info onto these 1x1 tags no problem.

The app doesn't sync well at all. I'll generate bar codes, select them for printing, only for them to disappear, show up as duplicates, etc. which interrupts our workflow regularly. In addition, not sure if this is the fault of this app or Shopify in general - we have a lot of barcodes that will disappear or overwrite with a new barcode seemingly randomly, making ringing up items in our onsite location extremely time-consuming. It also really affects our ability to keep track of inventory accurately. Edit: None of the solutions offered by support (which is just AI) work, while the errors persist. Is there any way that we can send tickets to Shopify support, so that these errors can actually be worked on and fixed, instead of just blaming the user every time barcodes disappear, are overwritten, don't work, print out $0.00 etc.? Or are these issues part of the app? This is incredibly frustrating to deal with and makes Shopify borderline useless for on-site retail operations. We are looking into POSes with better support.

I really like this product. However, one thing has been bothering me. When you select a product, it only shows the variants, not the SKU. This makes it difficult to select the SKU. Hope this can be improved.

Excellent product but one major floor. Even through the brother printer 810 is listed on the Shopify Hardware store as a supported printer, you are unable to get a compatible size label which works with the printer. Response, do it manually, or buy another printer, a one different to the one sold in the Shopify Hardware Store!!!!! This is almost discrimrty against people in australia and selling the printer is misleading. How hard is it to add another label size? Hope this gets sorted but guessing it will not, as any issues seem to be ignored. Would love to type more but have to go off and start creating all my labels manually so don't have time to type any more. To add a response the the comment from Shopify. The model you have listed below takes the same labels as the model I have posted. I will be exstatic if you can tell me which 'Product Label', not shipping label, that can be bought in Australia, that will work in the printer and be compatable with this software. It's been good for printing barcode labels. The options of what to print seems very limited though. Only 8 product detail options and the barcode itself. Given the wealth of data held in product/variant metafields it would be great if this could be referenced too.

This is best free app to generate barcode and print retail labels. But unfortunately, i am not able to add price component in the tag, recently, although it was supported earlier. When creating label template, when price component option is checked , the preview just ignores it and only lists couple of components, and the final print pdf, also indicates same.Looks like a glitch. Hope it will be fixed soon.

Update 3/27/25: This app is now creating duplicated barcodes numbers. When scanning products at the register, I have to choose which product it belongs to. Almost there. Too many steps to print labels. Why do I need to "create barcodes" before printing labels? Might as well create the barcodes as I print labels at the same time. Need product names on jewelry tags and all product names on other tags are too short.

It would be helpful if this app worked with special characters. also took a long time to figure out how to get it to work with the labels i have. there aren't enough presets for labels and the basic 1" x 2 1/8" label preset doesn't work. Edit 2023: App still works ok. A major issues i'm having is issues with duplicate barcodes because the barcodes are generated using the last 8 characters of the variant id but the variant id is 14 characters, so multiple product variants are getting the same barcode. Additionally, a major oversight is authorizations based on user type. At least there should be some sort of password input for replacing all barcodes. It would be a shame if I spent countless hours applying barcode stickers to all of my products only to have an associate mindlessly choose "replace all barcodes in my store" and render all the barcodes useless. This is functionality that needs to be implemented ASAP. EDIT: Started using EasyScan for fulfillment purposes and they also will generate barcodes using the unique 14 character variant ID. Uninstalling this app.

You would expect a Shopify Barcode Label App to be able to create a label that shows both the original compare price & the actual discounted price of an item. This BASIC REQUIREMENT for any retail store is however not a feature & Shopify instead expects you to pay for a third party app. Seems absolutely absurd but Shopify doesn't seem to care. I like using this app but I hate the limitation of the label sizes. Especially, when I got a phomemo label printer and can't find the right size label to print. I have a 1.5 x 1 labels on a roll and there are no option for this size or no option for a 2.25x1 option either. I expected when click on other options there would be an option for custom but nope.

I have been using the app for 3 years now and it used to work fine, but now all of the sudden within the past couple of months, the app is automatically updating barcodes which prevents the labels on existing products from scanning. We have been using this app for over 4 years and it has worked well for us. However, in the last month it has given us so many glitches. Shopify support can't help on this one. I've spent hours on this! It's randomly reassigning barcodes to products so when we scan an item at checkout it doesn't recognize it. Manufacture barcodes that we added so we could just scan the product aren't recognized anymore. we are having to manually lookup items at checkout or just redo barcodes on 100's of items. We are a small business and don't have time for this. Hopefully this will resolve itself soon because overall it's a great app.

It's just plain awful. Printing labels should be a one click and done process. This is very far away from being a functional product for brick and mortar shops. Shopify is a world class e-commerce platform. We've been flatly shocked at how empty the entire Point of Sale experience has been, and this app just personifies the entire journey. When we onboarded with Shopify - it never occurred to us that we should ask such absurd questions like - "does your platform have a way to print labels for products that is in keeping with the fact that we live in the year 2024?" This app is an absolute joke. It has 0 support for Cyrillic alphabets, so it becomes absolutely unusable for our shop in Bulgaria. A few complaints after using it for 6 months. It duplicates barcodes which I knew was going to happen so I started manually keying in my own #s. However there's a huge issue besides the duplicates and I've googled and saw this issue has happened to ppl 2 years ago. The barcodes stopped reading on POS camera. Only a few newer style / variant barcodes were able to scan while all the older ones that used to scan no longer scanned. After scanning would get errors such as, no response, or scanning a ridiculously long barcode # that's way more than 8 digits or couldn't be scanned message. Nothing have changed until maybe 2 weeks ago. We key in new product and barcode #s like usual. We have tested on the iPad and iPhone and everything is up to date. Still haven't solved this issue yet. We have lots of products and it's a huge issue for us now because we have to now manually type in each barcode to ring up items.

this thing is a joke...they are trying to push POS and they can even have a lable printing softward tha works half way decent. - The issue is you can not edit the font size - every thing is just placed onto one line - if you print a barcode, then scan it on the POS it doesn't go to the actual variant. It goes to the main product then you have to choose manually the variant. So we sell clothing surf products so it only pulls up the main category then you have to actually manually enter in which size or color or whatever variant you have manually.

One of the main reasons is that when you want to print the barcodes, you have to select each product individually, which is not functional at all. I have over a thousand different products in my shop, and not having the option to select all off them with one click doesn't make any sense.

Duplicates barcodes. Seems like way too many clicks to get to print the labels. **UPDATE** I am aware of the reason. This still does not help. There is no warning or notice that a barcode is duplicated. There is no option for a 13 digit barcode to avoid this. To check each barcode and manually change duplicates will take FOREVER.

This would be great if I could only print the labels that I actually have in a POS location and not my WHOLE store. This option is not available and it’s a headache to go one by one to choose the amount of labels to print. We've been using Retail Barcode Labels for the last 4 years. While the app is generally functional, we desperately miss Quickbooks for labels because we could print on a partially depleted sheet. PLEASE offer an option to choose the column and row to begin printing on for Avery Standard - 5160 2.63" x 1" - 67mm x 25mm. Additionally, the print area almost always slightly bleeds into the next label. We print from Google Chrome as suggested to minimize this, but wish we could shrink the barcode a bit for cleaner prints on our label sheets. Aside from these 2 issues, the app has worked well for us.

I wanted to give this app a 5 star review. I use it to print barcodes and not to make them. Only issue I really have is the name of the product. If you have a long product name, the letters become so small that you need a magnify glass to be able to read them. If there is a way to customize the size and shrink down the size of the actual barcode the application would be perfect for what I use it for.

The app is great but you can improve it by asking for the first position label on the page before printing because if you only have a few label to print you waste a all page of A4 sticking labels. Also for few months I can't print exactly were it need to be on the page because the dimensions of the select reference of labels are wrong. (L4736 Avery is 45,7x21,2mm not 46mm x 21mm) So it ends up having the name of the product not on the same label of the price and size.

The app creates barcodes using the last 8 digits of the variant ID. But this means that it's easy for the system to create duplicate barcodes if you have a large number of variants. This seems like such a basic requirement of a barcode system - that it should generate unique barcodes. I can't believe this is an official Shopify app and they've overlooked such a fundamental bit of functionality.

Needs the ability to template a label so we can chose position and SIZE of the elements. For instance, the price is too small to read and we cannot move items to a 3rd row to make them larger. Also, no way to specify a starting label (position) for sheet labels, so we end up wit a lot of wasted labels sine sheets can basically be used only twice. Pelease address these issues.

I have a Zebra printer that I bought from Shopify and use the jewelry tag that looks like a barbell. This ap would work fine if you would just put an extra line for Title of product. Now the tag only shows price and barcode. This makes labeling the product and finding an item very, very time consuming. I have been using this same Zebra jewelry tag for 20 years with Quick Books point of sale and it printed Title, price, barcode and even 2 short variants. So why can't you take the time to make that title option available? Yes the font would be a bit smaller but still easy to read. This size tag is so perfect for all of our products and I don't even sell jewelry. Please, make our jobs easier. Thank you.

For the most part this app works well enough for our environment. However, today, when we go to print the barcode label, it will not load the image on the print preview page so we can actually print. We have tried it on 2 different laptops running Windows 11 and on our iPad and none will finish loading the print preview page. I have an open ticket , 38855387,and no resolution from Shopify after spending more than an hour on chat with a team member. And there has been NO response from Shopify since Wednesday, May 31. Through my own repeated troubleshooting and persistence, Friday I was able to get labels to print. With no help from Shopify. I think Shopify needs to quit reducing staff and actually train the people working for them to know the product they are supporting. Whenever I have contacted Shopify for support, they direct me to help files that I have already read or they contact some other team for resolution. This leads to lengthy waits for the customer. As a former IT Application Support Analyst, this would have been unacceptable to my employer. As a customer of Shopify, I find this unacceptable.

So far, this has integrated easily into my online and physical store. I started off trying to use the Avery pages with my regular printer. The margins were off and I could not figure it out. I messaged tech support, they said it was an Avery issue and to message Avery. That was quite frustrating and the reason I deducted a star. To save time, I purchased a Zebra series label printer and its been great since. Honestly, I am glad I ended up purchasing the printer as I can print one barcode and not have to load a page or waste paper. It is ready to go when I need it.

Intuitive interface, relatively easy to use. Downsides: - Very limited selection of label sizes and no option for custom sizes. - Long barcodes are simply printed smaller, up to the point where no scanner can interpret them - Print interface starts, but does not show the label. PDF does download, though. Can make it work. I simply choose a slightly smaller label than my preferred size and print that, and make sure to limit the barcode length.

I wonder why people gave so many bad reviews! This app is excellent and does exactly what it says: generate and print barcode labels. We needed the barcode printed on labels to be placed on bins in our warehouse to make it easier to scan products. This app is free and yet somehow still I'm disappointed. It is restricted to a limited range of labels from 3 specific brands of labels with specific brands/models of printers. (conveniently printers you can buy from the Shopify store.) You'd think this thing would be highly optimized for said printers, but I've had so many issues. For example, just today I had the labels just randomly start printing sideways. Like, between print-jobs using the same template, minutes apart. Shopify has a bad habit of creating apps and then never supporting or improving them, and sadly this is one of them. Update: 01/11/2023. No noticeable updates, but through some tinkering, I've been able to get it to work and it does print labels, so I'm upgrading it from 1 to 2 stars. However, another noticeable issue is the clunkiness in regards to bulk controls. You can't, for example, filter your search to a product category and select all, and you can't copy past a quantity down a row like you can if you were bulk editing something in Shopify. This is being mentioned because I recently needed to print one of each label, for the purpose of sticking on bins (a pretty fair use-case) and that involved me individually searching each item and then individually setting the quantity to 1. Very very very tedious, and if you have a warehouse full of SKU's, you're in for a bad time. I appreciate Imogen's response, and I genuinely hope to see this app improve, but it really does feel like it's being neglected.

Why does Retail Barcode limit a dumbell label to 1 line? We would love to be able to use Retail Barcode Label to print our Dymo dumbell labels, but we print 2 lines on them and need 4 fields. The dumbell fits all of the text. Saying this APP allows you to "create custom templates" is not really true. Right now we have to export product data and then merge with the Dymo template, but the exports take more time and because Shopify limits product list in admin to 50 records per screen, we end up exporting multiple documents. Please fix Retail app to allow TRUE customer design. We print 2 lines on dumbell labels for all of our products, so there is no reason we should be limited to 1 line of text in Retail Barcode App.

Very poor app for handling the most important physical function in Shopify. Very disappointing. The poor function and printing of a barcode symbol is a good reason to never use Shopify. We had too many problems to get 20,000 labels working. Always an issue getting the barcode to print properly and read with the proprietary Socket Mobile scanner for Shopify POS. -The Documentation is poor to explain how layout works with "limited formats" and how that interacts with a thermal label printer with a label of a different size. There are so many label sizes. Why have such limits and not allow a standard dimension to be used? - No warnings for character limits on barcodes. There should be a warning when printing barcodes on labels that might be too narrow and create readable issues in 128. - No options to enable/disable compression, resizing or automatic "fit to size" within the app. Too much reliant on the print driver to adjust the barcode, when the app should be handling this. - No options for custom layout , including text wrapping options, font size. - No option to add a logo to the retail label. We want to add a small corporate logo somewhere on the label for branding. - the variant and product selection screen is too basic. It should show you the BARCODE field and the fields that the chosen LABEL is using. DUH! You have to "Print Label" to see if all your fields are there. - give us the usable workflow to find the oddball variant that is missing a barcode so we can fix it before printing. - A custom layout that allows you to adjust the height of the barcode with the text fields would make this soo much better. even if it still forces the fields to center. And within the height of a text box, you can enable/disable text wrapping to handle things like a long title. - the Label Template has a custom field for that template. BUT why not offer a "custom field" for the product, so a short title can be used to compensate for a long title that gets cut off the label because of the character limit. ...this app should be way better and more useful and accommodating. We tested identical test data with the Brother pTouch Editor and the same printer and the barcode labels came out beautiful, to the design, and accurately read quickly with the Socket Mobile S700. Verifying the conclusion that this app by Shopify is "trash".

SUMMARY TO HELP OTHERS: try pasting codes into external templates using Dymo/Zebra software. I am only on day one, and so far this app has 100% solved my issues. All I needed were barcode (numbers) generated for products - in about 5 minutes this app did exactly that. Doing this manually would've taken me hours, days, maybe even weeks. I think I understand why there are so many negative reviews - perhaps because it's advertised as an all in one barcode generator, label designer, and printer. Here's what I did: downloaded Dymo software and copied the generated barcodes into their label templates. From there I can customize size, text, everything. Every single label scans. NOW - if I find there's duplicate barcodes in here somewhere I'm going to be peeved, but so far so good. Listen, I know it seems clunky right now but back when I used another platform that starts with a Shop and ends with a Keep it was the same way in the beginning - barcodes were generated but direct label printing was near impossible. Perhaps Shopify will listen to concerns and work on patching bugs - in the meantime try external templates for Dymo/Zebra.

This app has potential; however, it has not been thought through properly. By this I mean it is not intuitive or laid out well and the app defaults are annoying. If you want to print off a batch of labels, the default is set on each item to zero. You then have to click or tab through the no of labels require field for each product. It would be very easy to have a select all and alter the numbers in a batch rather than individually. It would also be great to see other barcode formats such as QR codes as an option. I would also like to see it integrated with one of the QR code apps that generates customer QR's that allow them to put items in their cart or one click purchase. It's a "nearly" app rather than a "complete package" app

Great app. Only 1 minor issue that resulted in some manual work; the currency sign is too close to the price number (almost above it), so we had to open the labels in acrobat and put a space in between... for a few thousand labels :(

I thought this app and using barcodes on my products would be a super easy way to help me sell in person faster during fairs and markets, but just printing literally my very 1st page of barcodes was a disaster! I'm using avery labels and printing from my office jet printer and it doesn't print the description (why?? there's is plenty of room!) I can't print a barcode on my jewelry tags because Shopify doesn't support that label...what? Why? Makes NO sense at all since you're supporting all other avery labels! Shopify support while very nice just said-we don't support it and we don't support my printer (what? My printer works FINE and the barcodes work on the labels I've printed so far. The app is terrible to use. I selected a Dymo standard label. The labels on the roll are in landscape format. When creating the template in the app, I could also select it without problems. However, the generated label comes - for whatever reason - in portrait format. I can not change or adjust it. After giving up on that, I chose a square template (Dymo 25x25). Here's the next bit of fun. The barcode is cut off due to the lack of font reduction. No adjustments possible. I use Barcode Man now, works great and you can customize many. Doesn't cost much either.

This is not a very good app. While it does create and allow you to print barcodes is leaves much to be desired. I just entered a transfer of almost 200 products and now I have to add each and every product to a que to print labels or print them one-by-one. Why would one not be able to print labels from a transfer (which is really a basic purchase order)? This is a feature that other providers offer (we switched from Lightspeed and they offered it) I would give it a better review if it actually worked the way we do.

Trying to drop ship and cj dropshipping products dont have barcodes, anything printed on demand doesnt have a barcode, pretty much trying to sell on line is impossible. I tried to make barcodes so i can sell products on walmart using this app and it gave me 8 digit barcodes that do not fit on google, facebook, or ebay. Really misleading and stupid. Terrible. Continually problems with Google shopping feed. All the barcodes state that they are" not valid" with GTIN and google turned it down. I did an online chat and resolved some of the issues, but then checked back and everything is still the same. Not valid Barcode. Very frustrated. DESTROYED MY BUSINESS ON CHRISTMAS EVE! After 9 months of uneventful use this grinchy piece of software decided to overwrite every single barcode on all 35,000 items at my stores. We don't know how. Shopify support doesn't know how. No one can do anything. The staff at our multiple locations have had to manually search for every item in the POS, forcing customers into long checkout lines. Even with uploading backup data, we are going to have to burn payroll to rescan at least 2,000 items. This app has turned this jolly fella into a full on scrooge. Humbug I say, Humbug!

I like that this app is simple and easy to use. However, the lack of support for Brother printer labels is a huge bummer. I've had to use a different label template to get close to the labels I'm using but the top line of print gets cut off if I put even one extra line on it. The print is also off center which bugs me. For a free app, it works pretty good if you are using sheets. However, there is no way to edit the print layout before it creates the pdf. This makes it unusable, as my labels are on a roll and print a different orientation from what is created.

This retail barcode app is not as robust and easy to use as we would like. First, let's start with the tags: There is little you can do to edit or alter the printing template. If you have products with variation, you cannot note this in the printing, as it merely prints 3 fields: Price, the main product name, and SKU number. So, for example, if you have similar products that differ by style, you cannot note that difference on the tag. The only difference would be the SKU number - this is not helpful. Second, the dashboard interface is best suited for simple 1 or 2 product printing, but not if you need to print one set of tags after another. If you need to print another set of tags, you will need to basically restart the app by clicking the "Retail Barcode Label" title in the app. It's very annoying that the dashboard view is set up this way - it's not intuitive, and makes the printing process more of a chore. Third, the app is glitchy. For some reason, the very first tag has a shortened product name, while all subsequent tags have the full name. In short, if you can avoid using this app, go for it. Find something better.

We use this barcode maker for our two stores. The biggest issue it has is it makes duplicate labels for different items. This messes with our inventory levels a lot and it seems to keep happening. I've used the app for 3 months now in my boutique. It works as I expected. The only things that cause problem for me is the fact that I can't print labels coming from a "transfer". When a new stock is coming but some of the product are "restock" it would be easier to be able to print directly from the transfer in Shopify.

This app is garbage. A complete waste of time. If you have thousands of labels to print on smaller items and need to use Avery 5167, it only allows the barcode and the price. What a complete downgrade from my current system. I'm not thrilled about having to pay for a different app when this one should be so much better. Come on Shopify. Look at the reviews. This app needs to be overhauled. Efficient barcoding helps with effiecient inventory management which is part of the foundation of running a successful retail operation.

TLDR: This cost me a good bit of manual effort to recover from an overly ambitious action taken by the app. Be warned, if you want to mix barcodes with some of your products having externally assigned barcodes and some having generated barcodes, be sure to take backups regularly. This has an option to overwrite ALL barcodes that have not been automatically generated. Meaning this will wipe out ALL externally assigned barcodes from all products without a warning or confirmation. This was done by an employee, as there is no way to prevent it through permissions. I want the employee to be able to create new barcodes, but not overwrite the entire database of barcodes. Seems like this would be a valuable option to add. FYI, recovery was not simple, We had 10 days worth of heavy turnover since our last backup. Luckily, I was able to code up a solution to recover the older barcodes for the pre-existing barcodes, but the newer entries where a total loss. We had to manually rescan 400+ products to recover. One would think that shopify would have thought this one out a little more, and that they would offer a free backup scheduling app for when things go badly. Not really impressed.

Honestly, we need more options for Dymo templates. Shopify Hardware sold us Dymo Hardware, but the size tags we need vs what is available as a template are way too big. Need this to be more customizable, so we can choose *Just* barcode and name of item, on a smaller Dymo label ( 1⁄2 x 1 7⁄8" or 1⁄2 x 1"). It's so limiting.

We asked the app to remove all the barcodes which were created, there is no way to do so they say ! So we have to go through each of our products to remove the barcodes !

It works but needs tweaks to be a good useable app. Firstly, If you have spent 10 minutes finding all the products you wish to print barcodes for, if one is missing a number, rather than throw you out of all the hard work you have done putting it on a list to print, how about it designate a barcode and then go to the next page for the quantity of labels needed?. This one is the deal breaker for me. Transfers!. I have just put over 350 new stock items that arrived today, now all of these products need barcode labels. Why cant there be a button to print barcode labels from that screen. It would save hours of work?. It took me ages to enter it for the transfer, having to compile the exact list again to generate the labels is a huge waste of time!.

Its really not great, I am sorry to say. We have used Shopkeep prior, and I have to say Shopkeep is far superior with many aspects, especially barcode labels. This is about a 4 step process, and it should be 1 click. we cant print the size labels we want that has our store name on it. I used this app to help me generate barcodes for my products. Google blocked and didn’t publish products to Google because of the barcodes generated by this app. I have logged in a case with Shopify Chat Support. They could not help and they will come back to me when they have a solution. Until then, I am giving 1 star to this app. I will update if the things will sort out well.

Great app, easy to use. There's definitely a learning curve to figure out the best process for your store but would recommend it to anyone that has an in-person store and/or fulfillment that requires a barcode. 3/12/21 Update - This app is useless for my business as it creates duplicate barcode numbers for multiple items. Regardless of what your business is, this is likely to cause all kinds of problems. It also doesn't function whn you clieck "generate barcodes" it will return the message that your codes have been created but it only works 1 out of 5 times. The other 4 times you have to go through the command again multiple times for it to work. Who has time for that? For me, it's a nonstarter and of course now I have to pay for an app. It's ridiculous that shopify doesn't have this function integrated in the platform to begin with but the fact that they couldn't even create a functioning app for it, is very disappointing.

The app is very easy to use for creating and printing barcode labels and is virtually plug and play. It will print the basic information you need but if you are looking to customize label layouts there is not a lot of movement. A couple of improvements could be adding the option of using a QR code and the ultimate would be an automatic SKU number generator for new product entered in your store.

This app is terrible! The product has a handful of bugs that need to be fixed. (1) you should be able to bulk generate and print labels directly from a purchase order. (2) yes, you can bulk print labels, but there is a bug in the algorithm. Once you select one item, it completely forgets you've selected it and the entire list of items you selected to print tags goes away and it only prints the most recently selected item. SOMEONE PLEASE FIX THIS BUG!!!!!!!!!

When you click create barcodes, it doesn't create them for everything without selecting the item. It should go to the one I have been working on automatically. Also, it doesn't put the size or color in the description when it prints so you have to go look up the barcode to match it. That is time consuming. The app works as intended - however - they don't have Avery labels in American sizes/styles. You have to buy a European version for their template to work. I like that they bulk create barcodes - however - I had to go to the Avery website itself to design my own - which pretty much made this 99% not useful. If they can update their templates and add the 1x1 or the 1.5 x 1.5 in American template formatting that would be amazing.

Not bad - has some quirks. Occasionally when I choose to generate barcodes for a product, and it says it's finished generating, the next screen tells me that not all products have a barcode. So I have to click Generate barcode again and pray that all of the items get a barcode. Repeat a couple of times, until they all actually do have a barcode. This seems to happen 1 out of 3 times. Please fix! Otherwise decent app.

I use this app to create price stickers for my store. I do not like having to repeatedly go through the process to attempt to make barcodes. Sometimes it works on the first try but typically I have to go through the process repeatedly, at least 5 times of clicking " create barcode" then navigate back to the product screen and do it again and again until it finally actually produces a barcode. Some times i have to repeat this process over 15 times to get one generated and I have also found that it often will generate a barcode that is already in use which I have no way of knowing that until the cashier rings up an item and flags it for multiple items being linked to the barcode. It is frustrating!

Agree with most other 1 star reviews. You have to go through the process MULTIPLE times to get 1 barcode created. I don't understand why that functionality won't live inside Shopify (like Shopkeep) and not in an App. You also have to delete the app and reinstall if you have any issues.

The bar codes really help me organize my inventory. But when I print multiple out at a time, 3 or 4 of them will not print correctly on the Dymo sticker leaving me to try and printing them again. So I cannot print more than 5 at a time otherwise it will mess up and skip and not print correctly. Yes I have the right stickers and set up sizes. Once Set Up it works good. Works on brother label system as well. Would like to be able to set one label as default setting, thus eliminating one step to print. I really want to love this app, but unfortunately I don't. The most ANNOYING thing is that it only creates barcodes while the product profiles have a place for SKUs and Barcodes (leaving the SKU empty). This is a problem for people using the POS system & the Online Platform. Once the barcode is assigned, it's useless for your POS system because it will only read the SKU number (which is left empty on each product profile). In order to rectify it, you'll have to manually copy the barcode field to the SKU field for your POS to recognize it. MANUALLY INPUT EACH PRODUCT AND VARIANT. I have hundreds.... NOT HAPPY AT ALL. There are other minor issues like the lack of label sizes and such but I'd actually tolerate that if the barcode field could automatically fill in the SKU field or better yet, the POS system could read the BARCODE field.

We have thousands of duplicated barcodes and were told previously it was because of a switch that happened with the system. They told us older products that were created before the switch may have duplicate barcodes created, but we have new products created daily that are being given duplicate barcodes. This causes issues with other third party apps that cannot differentiate between our products because of duplicate barcodes.

I am totally and utterly disappointed by this app. We used it for about a year or so, and it seems to be OK until, it started generating duplicate barcodes. What an utter nightmare. I mean it just needs to do ONE THING. JUST ONE THING - unique barcodes. And it manages to create duplicates. I rang up support, and was told this was "known" If it was know - this is a critical defect!. It shouldn't be that hard to create unique codes. That's what computers are really really good at doing. Please fix this.

Perfect app for adding barcodes to all your products instantly. There is an option to generate barcodes for products that haven't got them yet (or rewrite all of them with new ones). I guess this last feature is causing some issues with other users (probably that's why the rating of this app is lower that should be, in my opinion). I have used this for years now and am getting super frustrated for the past 6 months. I have to "create barcodes" for new inventory multiple times before it actually creates the barcode. It has been becoming a waste of lots of time. Loved it in the beginning tho, so not sure what has happened/changed since

Only suport for Avery and Dymo labels. Couldn't get it to print on my Brother labelprinter. No possibility to add custom label sizes . Fix those and you have a great app.

love this app!! helps me scan in inventory when a shipment comes in..... i prefer to get bar codes then just print them using this app with the " quick scan " app

The barcode app is great for adding barcodes to items that didn't come with any. It works well and searching for items to print barcode works fine. I do wish that I could more quickly print a single barcode from the shopify products page without having to load the barcode page and then be able to click on File Print. Other than that extended step it works great.

This app sucks. It does not work. After you create barcodes and go to print barcodes, it ALWAYS gives you an error message of missing one barcode so you have to repeat the entire process twice every time. So frustrating! It is wasting valuable time!!!

The app works, but could work faster. Also why is it not possible to print all labels for items received on a purchase order. Does not make sense you need to go one by one even though you already have all items and quantities in the purchase order.

Very difficult to create templates as they have EXTREMELY LIMITED OPTIONS FOR LABELS. I was trying to make tags from Dymo 30333 .5x1 labels but they are not recognized by this system. Not a great system but better than nothing since this all Shopify thinks we need. :(

The App seems to be doing what it's made for and quiet easily. Only down side is not having the option to add blank labels at the beginning of an Avery page. If I have already used half an Avery page for printing, I can't use the other half anymore :(

I really do like this app and for me, so far it's been user friendly and easy to use. Down side? I wish it was compatible with Zebra label printers. I like that printer because it has a continuous retail tag option that's not an adhesive label. With this, I need to print my price tag on an adhesive label and then stick it to a tag that I then secure to my clothing items using a retail gun. Maybe Dymo will get on board with a continuous feed, non adhesive retail tag. I can only hope...and write a review ;-)

App works well for me BUT one Big problem is that Google Shopping requires a 10, 12 or 14 digit bar-code. This app creates an 8 digit code and therefore if you are also using the Goggle App, your products will NOT upload to Google Shopping! What a shame someone didn't know that when they created the app. Could have offered an option for number length.

Haven't had too many problems as far as ease of use. It's pretty simple and easy to work with. I do wish it had more label options for Dymo printers. I use 1.5"x1" labels. I'm able to print them still but because there's a size difference it cuts some of the wording off if it's too long, even I choose fit to label when printing. Another problem I had was not being able to now post my products to Google Shopping because of Google's length requirement. I didn't know this until after I had already barcoded over 1500 of my products. I haven't decided yet whether or not to redo all the barcodes because of this. Something I also wish was an option was to add a date.

The app does not work 90% of the time. It takes about 10-20 times to get a barcode created. This takes up time that I do not have. Look into fixing this problem..

This is a very clunky and buggy app. The previous app was much better. None of my employees can figure out how to use this. Resulting in lots of label waste. The many steps are one of the problems and there's obviously some print driver (do they even exist anymore) issues. It's made barcoding very frustrating and inefficient.

We are new to shopify and trying to use the retail label app slows down our process but is the only no charge app available. On 50% of the product entry we have to keep re instructing the system to create barcodes and then print the label. Not one day of product entry has gone by without the system failing and us having to repeat steps over and over again on the same product.

Mostly easy to use, but: shopify does not allow enough templates to choose the sizes of labels that we actually need, so we have to select a "nearest" size and print at 73%.

Really useful to create barcodes for uncoded products. I just wish it was an easier process, i'd like to Create barcodes and Print on one page, rather than having to retype all the products back in. Also if you could integrate Transfers with this app, so when a new Transfer arrives you can send all the products straight to the app, create barcodes if needed and print. To do this now, currently you have to copy and paste or input all the of your transferred products to create barcodes, and then do it all again print barcode labels. Other than that it's really good, and free!

Works quite well. Is buggy if your text isn't formatted correctly (if you have funny characters in your product title) Would be nice to be able to customise the layout and add logo / thumbnail - also be great to be able to use with other DYMO sized labels, not just the preset ones.

Pretty worthless. It creates 8 digit bar-codes while in the USA Google requires 12 digit UPC codes. The App will populate your custom products bar-code locations with these 8 digit numbers and then Google will kick them all back and you will have to manually remove them. I submitted an inquiry on this and was told that these are actually GTIN numbers but Google reads them as UPC numbers. There needs to be a separate box to fill in for GTIN numbers on the product pages.

Love this app, labels print quickly and clearly. Only reason i can't give it a 5 is I click create bar codes, wait for confirmation this was done, go to the labels I want to print and it says barcodes are missing. I have to do the process again, may be my connection speed (SLOW) but figured I'd pass it along. It would also be nice to not have to go through so many screens to print labels, if bar codes must be created once that is done it should automatically go to the product... Thanks!

PLEASE take away the extra step of PRINT LABEL SHEET. It's annoying to have to click more than we used to, and it's becoming time consuming. Otherwise up until then it's been great. This app is super simple to use and very efficient. Totally recommend it! My only concern is that if you have printed barcodes in your items and you push the button of create new bar codes it will erase all the other barcodes you previously had. and there is no way to have them back unless you enter them manually.

STOP ASKING FOR FEEDBACK. Needs improvement. Should be able to search for a product using a contains match, not a starts with match. This slows down the printing process.

Every update is worse and worse. More work and more time spent, just to print barcodes. This is hands down the worst feature of Shopify and one of the most common. I really don't understand why they keep making this app more and more terrible.

There's not enough supported label options. Personally, I need to print 2" X 1" labels, and I use a Rollo printer. The option to create custom label sizes would be great.
