OK, updated review. It does the job but the annoying thing is it's about the 12th item on the "More Actions" drop down list, which cannot be edited. As something we use every day, several times a day would it not make more sense to have a single button access? You can bookmark the link to print a single order but then it prints an "Order Printer" logo in the top left corner, overprinting our own logo so again, flawed because something has been added that serves no useful purpose.

Work well enough. Still cannot print on iOS/iPad OS because special characters get completely messed up. Hopefully devs will fix this issue soon?! In Canada many place names and given names include accents… The characters show correctly in the preview, but when the page is passed off to iOS to print or PDF the characters show as gibberish.

Used ChatGPT, then Claude for better results, to convert our invoice and packing slip from a different app that had a monthly fee. Works just like the paid app so it no longer made sense to pay a third party just to print invoices and packing slip when this works and looks the same.

i've just installed this and it already seems very useful, however there doesn't seem to be a way to select partially fulfilled orders other than manually. they don't get selected with unfulfilled orders, even though they do on the order page in shopify. that inconsistency is confusing, and this is a problem when some of my inventory is print on demand.

This app is so pointless, it rounds up the figure on the invoice, so it is not accurate. If the order was £1.50, it shows it as £2, which defeats the point of it.

love the app but please add bulk Order Printer templates that receive all selected orders in one Liquid context (for example {% for order in orders %}), so one custom template can output a single merged document/PDF for multiple orders. Today bulk printing appears to render one document per order, which makes combined batch sheets impossible without workarounds outside Order Printer.

It will be good to have the possibilty to send the invoice to the customer directly from the app, and better to send it automatically after the order. We can customise our invoice in HTML and be ok with locals rules (you have to be able to code it yourself indeed). Good job. Thank you

It's not brilliant, but it's pretty good. I have managed to use Sidekick to amend the templates to work for us, and so far, my experience has been pretty good. There are a few things it cannot do, but in the big picture for a free app, it's pretty good.

So far, so good! I used to use this, then was experiencing a period of extremely slowly loading packing slips, so I switched to another provider. In hindsight I realized the problems I was facing were due to unstable bandwidth from my internet service provider. Now that it's resolved, I'm glad to be back and discover this seems to be working better than ever. The option to delete unneeded templates and have only one appear as default saves time and energy. And, being able to import a more aesthetically pleasing template with lots of customization options is also great. Thanks!

Love the convenience, but would really love to be able to request an upgrade to the format of the receipt and I do not know how to do that--maybe making that easier is itself an improvement that could be made. The issue I have is that the receipt is formatted such that if someone orders multiple items, the price that shows for each item above the grand total is just the unit price (3 units at $6 is $18, but the column of prices above the total just contains $6 even though the grand total is correct). I've received a couple comments on that and I myself don't have the ability to change it. I'd like to make use of this, but continuing with this issue in the receipt is going to make it difficult for me to do so, unless I find a way to manually edit each incidence of this...

The templates contain metafields but there is nowhere to edit the metafield content. A VAT invoice should be sent automatically to a customer at the time of payment (Should be part of standard Shopify) - This doesnt happen, so tried to create a Flow, there seems to be no automatic way to create an invoice and email the PDF to the customer. These are basic ecommerce requirements that should have been in place with Shopify since they launched and should not need an app (or multiple apps) to work.

I don't know what the fuzz is all about, but i've been using this app for a while now, and it works perfectly. Never had any issues, and setup is easy and fast. The only issue is that you need to understand a bit of coding to get the layout right, but thats nothing that ai can't solve.

The only option fo this app that I needed was the 'pick list' feature. I like that you can arrange for it to be printed by Order #, SKU, quantity, product, or varient. Shouldn't have to pay for a pick list app when my needs are so simple so this one fit the bill.

Overall good app, just one key note: add a Vendor field, along side existing fields - when working with many suppliers, would be easier that 1st column is Vendor, so all products that need to be bought from the same supplier, are grouped in Pick List Template. For example, I start my morning with printing out what needs to be bought, like this: Vendor1 (Products 1, 2, 3,....) Vendor2 (Products 1, 2, 3,....) .... Vendor 5 (products 1, 2, 3,...) This way I can faster send to them my planned order list and easily compare what I have in stock already vs. what needs to be bought (is out of stock)

We organize and pack our orders by geographical zones. For instance, all West zone orders are grouped together for the logistics team assigned to the West region. Because of this, when we print packing slips in the Shopify Order Printer App, the orders won’t appear in chronological or sequential order. Previously, we could select and print multiple packing slips at once. Now, we’re forced to print them one by one, which is incredibly inefficient. With several hundred orders a day, this new process easily eats up 1–2 hours just on printing. Shopify quietly removed this feature overnight and brushed off our feedback with a vague “we are listening to your feedback, and we will definitely pass it along to them” without any clear timeline or commitment. The advice is to print packing slip for one order at one time, for now. It's ridiculously frustrating and feels like a step backward.

Lacking. Downloaded this app because my customer requested an invoice after their order shipped so their accounting department could see it was paid. Not happy with the app today. Something changed or was updated. I selected 5 orders to print from the orders page and I can only get it to print one at a time. To get all 5 to print, you have to go through the app versus printing from your order page. I suspect I will be sourcing a new app in the coming days.

***BEWARE*** Order Printer DOES NOT print the orders in correct sequence. This is a known issue that we have worked through with Shopify and Order Printer Support. However, they refuse to fix the issue. Because of this, your Packing Slips will print out of sequence. This is obviously a terrible problem because your slips will get matched up with incorrect shipping labels and your products will ship to the incorrect address. When it happens to one order, it necessarily impacts another order as well. It has wreaked havoc on us and we've tried out best over many weeks to get Shopify to correct this issue, but they won't. They know it's a problem too, which makes it even more frustrating.

I've been using this app for many years. The new iteration does take a lot of adjusting to but fortunately the devs left up a version they called the 'legacy' version which I used until feeling comfortable going to the new version. The new form for the packing slip is really good which is why I rate this app 4 stars. I do kind of prefer the look of the legacy invoice but the new one is just fine.

It's crazy that a popular and premium priced system like Shopify don't have a built in function for sending invoices so you have to install an app! And there is no way to gather VAT-numbers natively in checkout but VAT on the invoice is a legal requirement in EU countries! This can't even be achieved with an App because you are not allowed to add fields in the checkout if you are not on a PLUS subscription. So basically you can't use Shopify legally in EU selling to companies if you are not on Shopify PLUS or make some strange solution by adding VAT-number as an order comment but this should be stated on the customer not the order.

I'm based in the UK and couldn't find a good way to generate an invoice for a customer after taking payment. Most business customers will request this for their records. This is really handy because I can easily customise the template to make it UK-compliant. Now I can easily print to pdf to create an invoice that I can email on demand. I'd give it 5 stars if it was integrated with the order page.

As others have said, the app is really lacking. The rollout was bad, as usualy for Shopify. Admittedly many of the issues people have with the app are actually issues with what Liquid variables exist and not the app itself, but the app could have at least tried to fill in some of the gaps. They also disabled the < javascript > and < script > tags, so we can't even use javascript to try and bridge some of the functionality gaps present in Liquid! The legacy app supported it, why not the new one? The 64kb limit is ridiculous. What is this, the 80s? Support says it's an SQL limitation. Nonsense. SQL has multiple different storage types for text data. Shopify has chosen to continue using the regular TEXT type which has a size limit of 64kb. They created this new app so they could move to a new "tech stack". There was nothing stopping them from moving to use MEDIUMTEXT as the storage type for order templates. MEDIUMTEXT has a 16 megabyte size limit. Don't say they are concerned about data storage. The absolute disaster mess that is the Image Library proves they don't care about how much they are storing. Otherwise they wouldn't duplicate all images attached to products created by CSV upload. My library over 10k duplicate images because of their nonsense. Let us have larger templates. It is the least you can do.

So much better than the previous app. Includes everything that we wanted and then some i.e. auto-complete fields, code validity checks, flexibility, preview-before-save mode, select an order to check the output of first before saving. Managed to add the order note, images (logo) custom attributes, a nice message to those that leave a tip, conditional items e.g. gift message, formatted with css - complete with flex, backgrounds, rounded corners and emojis. Love it. Thanks Shopify.

Just an echo of what others have said; this app was fantastic when it was privately owned and developed. Since Shopify has taken it over, I've had nothing but issues. One day, without making any changes, my templates refused to print properly - thankfully a Shopify developer popped in and was able to fix whatever they had mangled. Last week, again out of nowhere, none of my product photos are printing. Code looks fine, but clearly they touched something because not even the native templates will display product images. Now I'm spending an hour arguing with a chat agent who wants me to hire a developer to fix this issue; despite the fact that I've said repeatedly this is a Shopify-supported app. Ugh. If there were another alternative, I would take it.

They say over and over I can print pricing labels from purchase orders if I have this. Nope. Doesn't even come up as an option. And no one seems to be able to help. Just sends me the same screen on how to do it. Even though I say those drop down menu choices aren't there for me! Ughhh. hundreds and hundreds of labels each week from purchase orders and can't print from purchase orders! What a waste of time printing them!

This new version done not show the mobile number I used all sort of variables available but it is showing blank for mobile number but address is appearing. It is not working in this new version. In older version it was working and showing mobile number. I had a custom template that could not be easily ported to the new Order Printer. After the many bad reviews, with bad comments that the templates cannot be imported or are difficult to import, they have worked on it and sent an info mail that it now works with a click. It worked now perfectly. In less than 5 minutes the new app and templates were installed. Working perfectly for over a month. Then it was removed from "more actions" to "print" and now it cannot be edited anymore. So it became completly useless!

So far it is working much like the old one. I did have to make a lot of adjustments to the code for the changeover. If you have anything custom in your template then you will need to put time into re-coding your template. It turned out fine for us, but I did have to do it on my own. I did get some assistance from the AI assistant bot when I went to the help pages. I typed in some of what I had issues on and it gave me some code to work with that I further adjusted. Overall we seem to like it well enough. I did notice that we have to go directly into the app to print instead of printing from our orders. It wasn't this way when I first downloaded the new app. Not sure about why it changed.

Perhaps the negative reviews are part of a campaign to push people toward paid apps? You can quickly preview changes immediately after making them, making it easy to fix any mistakes. Even for Japan's invoice compliance, you can make the necessary adjustments with minimal CSS knowledge. It pains me to leave this review but here's goes... No search. No tax number. No branding. No layout. No respect - it's like we're in a minimum viable app experiment? This feels like a higher-level strategy to favour app developers by moving basic functions to apps. But the app store soup is a Shopify downside, not a strength: less apps = better. There's no question that print invoice should be next to print packing slip on the order page - unless that's moving to an app as well? The best way to sum-up the overall strategy of moving basic functions to apps, is to quote Spinal Tap's album review; "**** sandwich". We know you can do better Shopify, you just have to believe... "Inner Peace… Inner Peace… Dinner Please … Dinner with Peas..." :) *EDIT* The top bar searches orders but finding the order doesn't help print the receipt, as it doesn't appear under 'Print' on the order page. We had to manually click through 10,000 orders to find a receipt via the app page - no joke! And after sifting through help results for email and POS receipt templates, we finally noticed a grey link on the far left. It's unnoticeable on large monitors but once you realise built-in features are moving to apps, you see it. Although, separating orders from receipts makes for a terrible experience - no?

This app is OK. What needs to be done is to add a column with the final price. For example, for a quantity of 2 at a price of $20 the righthand column should say $40, not $20. The former app did this and it was clear how the final total was calculated.

This app is just ok. If you don't understand HTML which I have limited knowledge on, its going to be hard to edit the format of the invoice/packing slip. I do like how we can edit this with a lot of variables because our invoice requires more things than just a standard invoice but it takes some time to understand how each variable is supposed to be formatted in HTML. My one feature suggestion is to be able to email a PDF version of the invoice to customers more easily than just saving it as a PDF each time and emailing it manually. This would save us so much time.

Tracking company and number and HS tarif code not working anymore. So we can not use this invoice for international shipments. *Update 15th of July - fulfillment.tracking_company and fulfillment.tracking_number yields no results - also HS codes are no longer available to use. So we can't use invoices from Order Printer to ship internationally and use for customs. Sad when Shopify is bragging about markets and global expansion.

They changed the system and took away our already perfect packing slip and even copying the code over from the old one to this new one, it did not work and now we're missing elements in it. Extremely poor system. They claim it's easy to use but it most definitely is not. The customer support line was also no help as they have no pre-designed templates to even assist the transition.

If I could give minus stars I would. Really poor effort from the developers and has come about to the detriment of the basic "Print Order Page" option. Shopify should be ashamed! **EDIT** In response to the Shopify reply I would suggest that the very fact I have taken time out to leave my original review would indicate that as usual support is unable to offer any help whatsoever. I'm fed up of hearing that "we will feedback to the developers and hope your issue is resolved in any future updates". Not a chance! ***EDIT UPDATE 2*** It would appear (somehow?) that issues with the generic "Print Order" feature in the admin section have miraculously remedied themselves! This, subsequent review, edit (No.2) is in no way a reflection of the functionality of the "Order Printer" app, but does indicate that our original negative review appears to have got the developers to recognise the issues merchants could well have experienced using the 'Print Order' feature in the Shopify admin. So, for all Shopify merchants out there who are frustrated by the lack of genuine support from Shopify "Help", it would seem that taking the time to objectively review the "Shopify Service" via the Shopify store or elsewhere does provide some form of resolution- it seems not even Shopify likes their ego busting! Just to add a couple of footnotes for the developers if you're checking in? 1. Print Order Feature - Customers mobile number font is still too large. 2. Order Printer App - This would be better if it included the customer's email address.

The worst rollout of a product. Most basic backend Shopify items are GUI, except this. Why? The legacy version worked fine for years before Shopify broke it. The import to this new app was easy, but completely INCONSISTENT. (Which is the most frustrating part!!) So one imported file (the one we use least) looks great - like the legacy version, while the 3 others are useless, especially the packing slip, which only shows two boxes, a ship to and a ship from address. No other information shows, even though there is code. Not only is this new "automated" rollout useless, but now it is wasting my time and delaying the shipment of orders while we figure out how to fix something that SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN BROKEN in the first place!! Thanks for nothing!!

over the years Shopify has made some changes that have not been helpful for us. This change takes time to get use to but right off the top the change has been helpful in terms of toner usage. The new format takes less toner to print as the bold lines used on the old format are gone. I do like the new format and like that the "packing slip" is labeled as such.

My experience with Shopify has been excellent. I just used the packing slip instead of a custom order page. Then after about a month of using that my custom template showed up as a selection. Thank you!! I highly recommend Shopify, the customer service is excellent and when something doesn't work, it gets fixed by the tech people. I appreciate this company after building my own shop, using BigCommerce, Prestashop (until they became proprietary) and another app. Shopify is by far, the best I've used. Have been with them for years.

Shopify forcing the migration without putting any measures in place to help support template migration is a joke. Shopify is not the company they were 10 years ago, absolute travesty. *** UPDATE *** Using the app further it is far and above a DOWNGRADE from the previous Order Printer app. Shopify is USELESS in assisting with migrating order templates. I have had to figure out liquid coding on my own and even then it barely works. This app is terrible and Shopify should be ashamed for their complete and utter failure to migrate effectively. Shopify is a shell of what it once was.

UPDATE: Based on my review, Shopify reached out and they helped ensure my old template imported correctly. When it wasn't, someone fixed the issue quickly. I appreciate Shopify and the team behind this template working to ensure I was satisfied. Thanks much! I see no advantage in this template. In fact, I see it as one big hassle. It's designed for business to business and not a direct sale to consumers. What you see on the preview is different from how it actually prints (even when you haven't made any changes to the template). For example, the $ signs don't actually line up on the page. That's just sloppy work. It's clear that when this was launched it was not actually tested with a "real" invoice. I find this incredibly frustrating as I now have to figure out how to fix this and it's a total waste of my time. The address and store name pull from your legal store info when most sellers don't use this on receipts. How about Shopify fix these issues and test the template BEFORE actually launching this? Supposedly it's "Easy to Set Up." Hardly.

*editing the review to reflect the final outcome and thoughts! Original review below updated* To anyone reading this who hasn't installed the app, please take the negative reviews lightly! Many of us came and reviewed right when the switch happened with a lot of frustration! The templates from the legacy app (no shade at all to the team who had it, the templates were lovely and I am sure they did the best they could with the tools they had at the time!) are very code-heavy, and a lot of that code is no longer needed in the new app. If you do not have a pre-existing template, this app will be great for you! To those reading this who are frustrated by the issues, bugs, etc involved with the switch, please trust me when I say I was in your shoes! But please trust me when I say that this switch is better in the long run, and the team at Shopify will help you! They helped me, and Mike P. was able to get my templates working again. After getting support from the team at Shopify, I have completely changed my mind about this app. The transition was difficult, but after talking with the team and seeing the fix they did to get my template to work, it really just came down to the amount of code that is no longer needed that caused the issue! From what I can see, this version of the printer app operates on a more efficient level of coding. To the point that I feel confident with my minimal level of liquid that I could go in and update the templates (if not make my own!) On the previous app, the code was very complicated and hard to look through, but they have truly made it a lot easier! I feel that as long as people are willing to work with the team at Shopify to get their templates moved over, the new app will be a great option moving forward! --ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW-- At the moment if I could rate 0 I would. I will give 1 star to the friendly Shopify agents who are probably getting bombarded by requests from this. This app is not user-friendly. At all. It has less functionality, if you don't know code at all, good luck. Even if you just copy the entirety of the code on your old template and paste it in, it doesn't work. When you do reach out for help, you are asked to look for lines in the code yourself which, thankfully I have a little knowledge in, but I can't imagine having to try and do that when you don't know code. I was also told I may need to get a Shopify Expert to look into the code, to which I said no. I am not going to pay someone to help me fix something that isn't broken so I can migrate to an app you are forcing us to move to. Shopify is a great platform, and I am hoping they will make some SERIOUS improvements to this Order Printer soon because as of right now I stand with all the other 1 star reviews.

JUNE 24 - While we were able to successfully import our template from the legacy app, there is still coding adjustments required (layout is not the same, scaling is off, header is gone). We uninstalled and re-installed the app thinking it was an import snafu, but we are still having this issue. We are eager to make this transition but need to import our template exactly as it appears on the legacy app. Please assist, we have not gotten a response from Shopify support. JUNE 6 - As a long-time user of the legacy app, we were initially optimistic about transitioning to the newer version, however our experience has left us disappointed. The primary issue stems from the incompatibility between our custom template, which was meticulously crafted to suit our specific needs, and the new app. Despite reaching out to Shopify's support team, who were indeed helpful in their assistance, the ultimate verdict was disheartening: our template is simply "not compatible" with the new app. The lack of compatibility and the requirement for coding knowledge makes it inaccessible and impractical for users like us. I sincerely hope that future updates will address these issues and make the transition smoother.

I was concerned about going from the original Order Printer to Shopify's order printer. After seeing that I may have to modify some code, and I'm not a coder, I was worried about the transition. I had been using the original app for so many years and have made many customizations, I was worried they wouldn't carry over, but it worked flawlessly with not extra work other than "importing". The only change I had to make was, unchecking the Shopify default templates I didn't need and check the default template I wanted and "done"! The only reason I only gave it 4 stars and not 5 is, I just made the transition this morning and only time will tell if I run into any issues.

Very little support documentation, and why would this app be released befoer they had a way of importing the old templates? Get your ducks in a row first before releasing this nonsense upon us. Poor effort from Shopify who should be leading the way in professionalism in this regard. ZERO STARS. This APP is showing some weird "Expected Delivery Date" for each order on our admin page. Three days from the time they place their order. We make customized items and even if we ship the same day (not possible) there is little chance customers will receive their order in 3 days. We can not find where to expunge this info. I jumped into this from the old version, and had to remake some things as the language had changed some. But after some tweaking I made a better adress printout than before. It could be nice with a tool to help you make a good looking printout, but this is very flexible, and weighing in that its free i think its ok! Much better than writing name and adress manually as before. So all and all i think its fine anyways!

WHYYYY in the world change something that was working great?? I really, really hate when Shopify randomly decides to change things that are working. This is a repeat occurrence. It's like someone decided that "something needed to be refreshed" for the sake of refreshing, and they put a bunch of ideas in a hat and randomly pulled out the print order app to change. You guys like playing roulette with the interface, much to our chagrin. This includes live visitor displays, and many other countless things over the years that just made us have to figure out something new, instead of adding value. The print order app is critical to every day operations, and many of us already liked and grew comfortable using the existing format. We all painstakingly took the valuable time to customize things to our preferences when setting up our stores. Now, we have to redo it...AGAIN. This is a "make work" project for small business owners who don't have the time or the IT resources to get help fixing the awful new format. Import does NOT look the same. I still need to customize. Going to continue using the legacy app as long as I can. Hopefully, that will give the developers time to figure out how to make it seamless. Very disappointed, Shopify!

In the legacy order printer when you print as PDF and save on pc, the name of the file would contain the specific order number. In the new version the pdf file has a standard name. So when you print to pdf many orders you have to manually change the name for each order. It is just one unnecessary extra step.

Re-creating our invoice and packing list templates in the new app took about half an hour. It required reference to the documentation but was not hard. The new app is functionally very similar to the old, and I don't really understand the reason for its existence, but changing was not as big a problem as I had been led to believe by all the negative reviews. One minor gripe is that when you print to PDF from a browser, the saved file takes its name from the title of the page. This used to contain the order number, which was convenient. Now it does not, which is inconvenient.

There is zero support to customize invoices and no simple transfer. Support will forward you to the help documents (that you have probably already read) that do not make it easy on someone who has no real coding experience. When you press support for further help, they will forward you to a Shopify service that you'll need to pay for. The least they can do is create a library of functional templates for their customers. However, it doesn't seem like too much to ask for a template builder. Maybe they should consider fully flushing out their apps before launch? They have done another half-attempt at an app we tried --for subscriptions. Why waste the effort making a terrible product?

Im working with support now as I agree with most of these reviews. There are issues with this new app. In my opinion, the "legacy" app had a much cleaner look and should continue to be supported. I sent 12-13 orders to the printer yesterday and all did not populate. This was after spending 6 hours with the help of chat gpt to get the code right to have the finished form look like our original form that all in our shop and customer base are used to looking at. The legacy app is good until August 2024 so don't be in a hurry to update any time soon. Update: All the bugs look to be worked out. Without the help of Chat GPT, it would have been difficult to customize the template. All is well now and using it daily

I was unsettled by the many bad recessions. But I didn't let that stop me from trying. After 10 minutes it was done and everything runs as smooth as it did before. I found it easy to migrate my templates. But I am very interested in programming and so I am able to read, understand and edit html or other codes. So I agree - a user without any programming background may find this very difficult and will need further instructions or help.

This update is a significant improvement for us! We now have the ability to include more detailed information in our invoices and packing lists, thanks to the use of metafields, customer notes, and a wide range of variables and styles. While the new requirement for object names in variable names was unexpected, it ultimately allowed us to enhance our documents exactly how we wanted. It would have been convenient to automatically transfer the old Order Printer Templates, but we understand it’s a complex task. Overall, great job on this much-needed upgrade!

A couple of things we would like to see, however. 1) A unit price (or price each) and then a total price for each line item ordered. 2) On local pickup orders, have the Packing Slip show the name, address, phone, etc. of the purchasing customer.

I really can't see ANY benefits to this new app. We copied our templates and it's unusable. After a few hours we had got it almost back to as it was by changing the variables. Luckily I know a bit of liquid coding but I know many do not. What was the point in that in all that work - what have I gained? Shopify say there is going to be a migration tool coming soon... The new version just deletes my translation. When I copied my translated template from the old version of Order Printer to the new version it didn't work. POOR Product rollout! Programming experience over 30 years and took me a day and a half to re configure the template we use. The Shopify Help Center documentation is inconstant: 'weight' variable' to be changed to 'grams' for some reason, then farther down is says change 'grams' to 'weight' . Proofing and ask the question 'WHY' do we need to change the variable name seems to be a needed thing. Also, WHY would you put pricing on the shipper template? Also, one of the reasons you say the changes were needed was to save paper and ink. Well, Your new invoice template was printing a blank sheet of paper before printing the invoice. I expect better quality control from Shopify and feel bad for the MANY that now have to pay someone to try and RE Fix their templates so they can become usable again.

I just installed the new App, and I have to say everything about it is extremely craptacular. Halfbaked isn't even a remarkedly close comparison. Raw and still mostly frozen is a better description. I can't believe anyone would consider this App ready for deployment. The type is microscopic. I can code but finding where to try and make changes is anything but obvious. The font is too small on the Order form. There doesn't appear to be any way to permanently tick to remove the default to print Packing Form. It wastes so much paper to print the orders & throw away the packing sheet. I loved the original Legacy Order Printer. It was easily customised, larger font, so less room for error when packing orders. This seems like a dumbed down version that has replaced a perfectly functional order printer. Why??

Ever heard the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"? This applies perfectly to what Shopify did with the order printer app. We finally had it all customized exactly how we liked it, and then they are now forcing us to "upgrade" to a literally inferior product. My main gripe is that the new order printer STILL doesn't import variant selections from orders that are imported in from outside of Shopify (I.E. Etsy Orders, Ebay Orders, Etc). Wow, what a disappointment. The original Order Printer was certainly not the best, but I presume most of us eventually got it to work and considered that a sunk cost. Years later and this is what you've got? You have to be kidding! I'm hours into it and I still can't get decent results, the templates are lousy and it has been super flaky, sometimes completely failing to load. This clearly comes down to an absolutely poorly managed Product Management group. There appears to be absolutely no voice of customer at Shopify. Who in the world asked for this? Wake up Shopify! When your own app can't even get a 2.0 rating something is broken, that starts with Product Management. Fix It! Someone should be held accountable.

I migrated the templates per instructions, but the order number is missing, as well as the date and email fields. Not great. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. When you think UPGRADE, you think Improvement. Not the case here. Shopify should have a core comprehensive Order Printer app, AT NO COST considering the monthly cost shop owners already incur. The existing (legacy) order printer works and has some customization in the code that works for my business. I do over 11,000 orders per year. Now Shopify is forcing a migration to an inferior order printer app, by sunsetting the legacy order printer. You should have a choice or a "Voice" as a shop owner. It's almost as if they are forcing you to pay for a 3rd party app, so Shopify can generate more revenue. This is shameful corporate greed. Shame on you Shopify!

Someone please tell me how to get the shipping title to show on the packing slip? It takes too much time to look at each order individually to see what shipping method to use. After years of successfully using Order Printer with my branding customisations, the app has been decreed a 'Legacy' app and all users need to migrate to this new one. This new Order Printer App is completely broken. I followed the instructions to copy the code from legacy app and paste it in the new app. Whilst the branding customisations - Logo , font style etc migrated ok, 7 critical pieces of order information are now missing from my Invoices: - No Invoice Date - No Invoice Number - No Ship to details ( customer name and address ) - No Shipping Method - No Sub Total - No Total - No Total Paid An invoice is not an invoice without these details. It seems that to have this critical information included you need to follow their instructions to change certain elements of code. These instructions are written with the expectation that you have significant knowledge of HTML, and there is no assistance for anyone who doesn't. Given that users paid to have customised templates in the legacy version originally, we should not have to find and pay a developer to have these changes migrated to the new app being forced upon us. Hoping that a fix for these issues is provided soon and that in the meantime the Legacy app is left in place so we are not without the ability to issue invoices

Absolutely awful. Templates don't migrate and no easy way to start over and create new templates branded and customized to your store - even from scratch. What a total about face from the old Order Printer app. For now, this is completely unusable, but I'm sure Shopify will force us to use this at some point in the future. The best you can do with this app is a basic shipping list that looks like a printout from a hardware store.

It has been most difficult to transfer our invoice templates to this app from the legacy version. I've had to teach myself enough coding to be able to figure out how to make the old template work here, which has taken me so many working hours, for there to find out afterwards that there's issues that many other people are experiencing because they haven't even been fixed by the developers yet. After all that work our template isn't ready to be used yet because there's no solution to page breaks, and the time to use the legacy version is running out. I'm sure I'm speaking for many of us users when I ask for an extension on the legacy app availability, or these issues being fixed asap AND providing sufficient support to those users that don't have the resources to deal with it themselves.

Terrible app! Shopify is forcing everyone to migrate without making it simple to do so. If you don't know how to code, it is impossible to do this. No easy way to copy an existing template across as they have changed all the variables. SHOPIFY - You know what you have changed! Please provide us with a help page where we can simply paste our legacy template code, and the variables are automatically corrected. This will enable us to easily intergrate it into the new app.

Install and use is easy. What i am missing is the integration with adapt. No localisation and it does not use the store language. For who is not able to code just do like i did. Create a page in your shop, change to the html view, paste the code of your slip, invoice whatever you want to modify and change to edit view. Make you changes avoiding to cancel any field, change to the html view copy your code and paste it in your printer template. DONE

The ability to change the output with HTML or Liquid is excellent. No other e-commerce service offers this level of freedom. Invoices could be created in a specified format. Only one feature was reduced. That is that when you output a file as a PDF, it is output with the same file name. In the old 'order print' the order number was included in the file name, so there was no risk of overwriting the file. Thanks to the development team for a great programme. Please keep improving it.

This migration was fairly straightforward but you need to engage the same developer that wrote your original templates. Seems like the variables now need to be explicit, the types have been made consistent for things like addresses, and there is a better hierarchy now so you can drill down in a more logical way to the thing you want to include. If I was writing templates from scratch, I would prefer this over the old version. The only thing I haven't been able to figure out is how to make the borders as thick as the borders on the legacy version, but that is just my own shortcoming I think.

Don't delete the Legacy app until they fix the issues with this one. I regret deleting it as you can't download it again. The major issue for us is that it cuts off order if they're longer than one page, and sometimes randomly only prints half the page or less. It can't do the one job it's supposed to, which is to print orders. Edit: They HAD it working on the afternoon of May 24th, but it's broken again this morning on May 25th.

Countering many of the poor reviews here, this app has been a LONG time coming and sorely needed. Previously Shopify had no support for Invoices. If a customer asked for an invoice, there was no way to pull it up, other than installing third party app workaround. That was a huge gap in any b2b workflow and this finally fixes it. Users have always had to know a little bit of HTML, CSS and Liquid to customize an invoice so I'm not understanding the complaints. There also appear to be unlimited templates that can be added so I dont understand some the reviews saying there are only 2. Yes, 2 pre-made, but you can duplicate and create as many as you need. I get that templates have to be done again and that's a hassle, but the old app was a dead end and needed a complete rebuild which is what Shopify is delivering here. My team and I are thrilled that this is finally available and I look forward to leveraging its capabilities into our workflows. No doubt Shopify can and will build on this new foundation.

In new Order Printer the displayed div is too small. When the customer address is long, the displayed content overflows. Meaning what Order Printer shows isn't what gets printed. This works properly in Order Printer (legacy) I tried replacing CSS: Polaris-Box with: Polaris-Box printer-inline-preview But this doesn't fix the issue. Polaris-Box div width is too small and Polaris-Layout CSS doesn't flex correctly in the new app. Please fix.

OMG! Who on earth thought this app was an improvement! The old one worked, why change it? I've cut and pasted the text from the old template but it's not even close when viewed on the new order printer. The fonts are lost, totals and discounts are missing, ship to address is gone. We're not doing anything complex here, just wanting it to list the customers order, their address and what they paid for it. I can probably figure out the code to change to get it right but it's going to take a while. If anyone from Shopify is listening you REALLY have to sort this out and at least delay the removal of the legacy app to allow people time to fix your mess.

We don't like this new Order Printer App. After migrating our templates and making the changes necessary, according to the migration documentation, the pages don't print properly anymore. The previous version of this App used to print a Packing Slip and 'Thank you'-letter for multiple orders at the same time, it was such a time saver. Now it isn't even able to print those two templates for a single order at the same time. Was unable to fix it after hours of rewriting the template and our templates and styling aren't even that complex.

While Legacy may not have been the excellent this is so much worse. To change anything, even take prices off, add shipping method or order date, requires a change to the code. This is not feasible for many small businesses. If you're going to update make sure it's easy for small businesses to customize. Don't make us pay for 3rd party apps for something we already have. Expect lots of bugs and zero help from shopify support as shopify requires transition to this "new" Order Printer. This "new" Order Printer does not work correctly with any customizations/templates from the "legacy" Order Printer, and Shopify's support staff are zero help. Shopify's support page on transitioning from the "legacy" Order Printer to this "new" Order Printer is woefully inadequate, too. With this new Order Printer, Shopify changed all their liquid formats plus simple template code that worked perfectly on the "legacy" Order Printer no longer works on the "new" Order Printer...and nobody at Shopify can say why...or offer real solutions. What's more, if you use any 3rd party providers on your shopify store to help manage inventory, pickup/delivery, locations, bundles, discounts, tipping, just about anything...expect additional issues using this "new" Order Printer...and Shopify support is again zero help because they use 3rd party providers as a scapegoat. Don't get us wrong -- the "legacy" Order Printer was far far far from great...it required a TON of template customization to be even remotely useful. This is still the same for this "new" Order Printer...except that Shopify has thrown in the "bonus" of mysterious liquid and code changes (seemingly in secret, leaving both customers and support staff to stumble upon them as bad surprises). With this "new" Order Printer, Shopify shows yet again how out of touch they are with us customers doing business in the real world. Difficult to see this "new" Order Printer as more than a thinly veiled attempt to squeeze more money out of customers by providing substandard products and service that leave customers in the lurch unless they pony up $$ for a yet another 3rd party app to band-aid Shopify's poor product and service. Do better, Shopify. If we don't say something, they never will.

I have 6-7 different templates from multiple stores.. some of which were heavily modified for better functionality, and now nothing works properly. It will take dozens of hours to rewrite new / fix existing code. Shopify employees in charge of app and admin console changes should have hands-on experience of using them on a day-to-day basis, so they can see how it affects people running their stores.

Very disappointing "update". The nature of our production workflow depends on an ever changing and highly customizable order printer template - And while the legacy app is by no means perfect, I was always able to achieve whatever customization I had set out to accomplish - So when I saw the message that Shopify was sunsetting the old order printer app and migrating to this new one, I had high hopes that they would improve upon the already solid foundation that was the legacy app. I expected, at minimum, quality of life improvements, and was hopeful for some new features. Instead what I got was an app that is objectively worse in every regard. I say this with no exaggeration or hyperbole: I have yet to find a single thing the new app does better than the legacy app - And worse, there are many cases where the new app does not support some functionality that the legacy app had for years. This is simply unacceptable when my company and many others not only rely on these functions, but have been using them without issue for many years. Just to name a few: 1. Page breaks - The new app does not seem to support any method of forcing a page break 2. Custom scripts - The legacy app was capable of importing JavaScript libraries and running custom JS functions to perform actions within the template. The new app blocks user scripts and this is no longer possible 3. Float styling - New app does not support styling such as “float: right;” I am not asking for more. I do not need the new app to do anything better than the old - But at bare minimum it needs to support the things that we have all become accustomed to through years of using the old app. And to be clear: I do not mind the liquid object name changes - As an intermediate/ advanced user, it is easy to modify existing variable names to get them to function in the new app and I understand changes like these are sometimes necessary despite the temporary frustration it might cause merchants.

VERY difficult to migrate, cannot find any way to customize anything. Instructions for migrating are lacking. Printer preview is not accurate. I've installed/uninstalled multiple times but cannot get setting to show as described in the instructions.

Garbage. Requires coding knowledge to change the template. I can do it, but it'll take an afternoon as it isn't something I do on a regular basis. This not user friendly and clearly, no one checked UX before pushing this to production.

Literally the worst idea. My invoice template that I BOUGHT does not work on the new version. None of my settings are there and the packing slip is not supposed to have prices on it. I am extremely disappointed in this move.

Definitely a huge step backwards. Now we can't select and copy multiple documents/orders at a time in the preview page. We used to rely on this every day, copying and pasting into a blank text editor to generate a packing list of multiple orders in a single page.

I have custom invoice template design but this Order Printer app doesn't let me use it. Shopify will stop running the old Shopify Order Printer app soon which allows me to use the custom invoice template, and they are asking me to switch to this one. I don't want to switch to the worse ver. Please don't make things worse.

Shopify....Whats the deal here! Usually you make things easier and more user friendly. What you did was take an effective and streamline order printer and complicated it. This is difficult to navigate and set up. As business owners we do not need you making things harder for us!

This is absurd! The old app changed to Legacy and we have to download a new app. The new app doesn't have an option to make it easy to customize. We're so overload of work and now have to find a way to customize the template or find one that works and to make it like the old template we used to have for our store. The previous one we have paid for and done so much work for it.... What's the point? Please bring back the old one for us!

Absolutely awful I need a magnifying glass to read the so called new improved Order Printer. To be honest one star is generous it should be zero. Not sure what has improved as I haven't found one yet! Will continue using Legacy until August and hope common sense prevails but not holding my breath! I don't understand code so have no idea how to alter anything so lets look for a new app!

The original order printer came with a variety of "look and feel" templates and looked great. I am not sure who at Shopify came up with this bad joke which we are now being forced to use.

I assumed I could just copy over the code from the old app, but it no longer works as the subtotal / total fields no longer add up. Why change something with no support or at least option to customise the look and design of the invoice?

Absolutely appaling, order printer wasn't great but this is far worse, I was hoping it would at least have the ability to produce credit notes, not a chance it looks like they have just taken the data which the original app used and then put it together with awful formatting. It doesn't even show your VAT number! What use is that? It also shows the website name instead of the correct business name so totally useless as a VAT invoice. I won't go into the packing note showing pricing, or the order list with the date overwriting the order number. Was this coded by a schoolboy with zero business experience? This was an opportunity to produce a really useful app and instead we have this pile of poo.

Changed my entire template, If you are developing a new app at least make your template attractive. Shopify can't invest that much for their users ? to atleast provide professionals invoices for their clients.

I think people just jumped on to write a review before really diving into the new app. I successfully transferred all of my old templates. Although, I did have to rework them a little bit. I am not sure about adding images, but that isn't something we utilize so can't help combat that negative review. Overall, it was an easy switch and it's an easy app to use.

I was able to set up my previous templates here because I have some coding experience, but I think it would be difficult for those without any coding experience to do so. The help documentation only shows how to code some lines, and you cannot directly copy and paste over the old code (it won't format properly). Even after I set up the templates the way I'd like and the previews showed the correct format, when I try to print multiple packing slips, whole sections of orders are just missing in the printout. It's impossible to use even if you get the templates set up correctly. I will be continuing to use the legacy printer until either it expires or this app gets fixed.

New order print is horrible. There are no sku's on the invoices and it is including my corporate information and DBA on the invoice. Totally NOT wanted. Can't figure out how to fix it

This is not a good move by Shopify. As others have mentioned, this app is not as good as the legacy version. We could have multiple templates for B2B, B2C, gifts, drop shipments, etc. Now we get two, and the packing slip has prices by default, which is a HUGE no-no. Can be removed, but you have to edit the liquid code directly, which is not an option for a lot of customers. And, as others have mentioned, you cannot copy-paste your old templates here, as many variables have changed names, seemingly arbitrarily. You need to understand the liquid code in order to modify them, and they still don't look good without further tweaking. I am not good at coding, so they still look...not so good. To make this app better, please add: 1. More templates 2. WYSIWYG editor, or another way to modify the template without code 3. An easier way to migrate templates 4. Easy way to add pictures, QR codes, and other media 5. A packing slip that does not include prices by default If you can't match even the basics of what the legacy app provided, please do not make us migrate.

Wow, this is just laughably bad. Discount codes do not populate, amount paid is not included (which makes it look like the invoices and packing slips are unpaid), payment method left off...nothing about this is an improvement. I will hold out hope that Shopify makes this app functional by August.

We were happily using (the old) Shopify Order Printer. All the templates were set up perfectly. Tried importing the code in to the new Shopify Order Printer, and it doesn't work. Pretty poor migration strategy from Shopify. At least the old app is still working... for now...

I installed this because it said Order Printer would no longer be available and that this app would be better. The order date it prints is not the date of the order, but rather the date the order was printed. This is quite irritating. Also, the default template prints very small, so is significantly harder to read than the old Order Printer.

Downloaded after long time use of the legacy Order Printer which works very well, at no extra cost! Thank you Shopify. If feedback is welcome I would love to see: - Block style editing of the order form, similar to an e-mail creator. The current CSS style editing is limited for most who don't have the knowledge to work in this format. - In the order overview tab, please add the option for view more columns, the most helpful for our business would be "Delivery Method" as we need to distinguish between Standard, Express & other delivery methods. This will determine the priority in which orders are printed and dispatched. - The inclusion of tags at the order overview stage. This also gives more information at a glance when printing orders. Other than these points the Order Printer app is a great option if you do not want to download 3rd Party apps, and as mentioned, at no extra cost it's a very good option :)

A lot of manual work to try and migrate templates. Needs a migration functionality for custom templates. If this is replacing the order printer app shopify should be handling migration for customers not making us recreate the wheel. Even after doing all the work to manually edit the template it is weirdly different sizes in ways I cant control (tiny fonts, random extra space, etc). Worst, it cuts off the text at the bottom of the order. Half way through the shipping line it just cuts off and leaves off everything past that (order notes, etc) Address function decided the address needs extra space added above and below that cant be controlled.

I contacted support for assistance and after wasting 90 minutes of my time with a support person who was akin to a receptionist, I STILL do not have my previous template imported. My existing templates don't work with the new app. The order number, date, and barcode are all missing—three items that are essential for picking and packing orders.
