I give it a two-star for the completely chaotic and ADD-structured interface. Although the app will generate the SKU's and barcodes in bulk, it's all over the place. And the pricing packages are also all over the place and you don't feel clear at what exactly it provides. I paid for the advanced options, but when I tried to generate the SKU's I was still required to pay monthly. It's also missing other important information. For example, it gives no clarification or examples what the officially accepted and required format is for the different SKU options (Code-128, EAN-13 encoding, Google, Amazon, etc). You need the right structure to not generate a Google ad listing ban. And, like someone else pointed out, it does overwrite your own tailored numbering once it generates SKU's.

We needed a way to print labels based on a Stocky-generated CSV based on ordered quantity, instead of received. SkuGen promptly replied to my emails and after a few clarifications, they offered to add this feature. Within three days it was ready and tested. It worked! Excellent customer service.

It will *override* your existing SKUs with *random starting number* even if you 1. selected only generate for items without SKU and 2. choose a starting number yourself. A nightmare to for any store owner.

Bogden has been super helpful in answering all of my questions. He has worded the communication in a way that makes setup a breeze! In his communications he provided screenshots and itemized instructions to make the process easy to digest. I pay for the Premium account because I am utilizing the advanced SKU automation features. It also has a built in label template and label printer so I was able to consolidate my apps into one SKU & Print app. It is well worth the price. I highly recommend this app.

Our experience with SKUGEN was absolutely horrendous. The so-called “customer service” from Bogdan was nothing short of dismissive and condescending. He repeatedly demanded screenshots of the same billing information—data they could clearly access themselves. Despite being on their “free” plan, we were charged $1.99 monthly, which is outrageous. Instead of addressing the issue, they bumped us into their “automatic SKU generation” plan without our consent—something Shopify offers for free, by the way. We had unknowingly paid for this app for two years, and when we questioned their shady practices, they refused to refund us all of the months that we were charged for a free plan. It took escalating the issue to Shopify and other governing bodies to even begin addressing the problem. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the app itself is clunky, confusing, and offers the bare minimum in functionality. Their billing is a complete mess, which seems intentional to trap users. There are far better apps out there that provide similar services without this level of frustration and unethical behavior. Save yourself the headache—SKUGEN is not worth your time or money. RESPONSE TO SKUGEN'S COMMENT: It’s deeply frustrating to see SKUGEN continuing to deflect accountability and dismiss valid concerns. For clarity: I was refunded for 3 months, but I was charged for over a year on what was supposed to be a free plan. Despite sending all the requested information multiple times, the response I received has been nothing but gaslighting and attempts to shift blame. You claim that plan changes require explicit user consent, yet I was charged for a downgrade I didn’t approve and then all the sudden moved to a paid tier without any transparency or notification. Unlike other apps on Shopify that clearly communicate pricing changes well in advance, SKUGEN failed to provide any such notice. The lack of transparency and unwillingness to take responsibility speaks volumes about the company’s practices. Let me reiterate: this isn’t about the money—it’s about honesty and integrity. Users deserve to know what they’re paying for and to have issues resolved without being misled or stonewalled. Shopify is now investigating the situation, and I encourage others who have had similar experiences to do the same. Additionally, the app itself leaves much to be desired. It’s unintuitive, confusing, and offers subpar functionality compared to its competitors. Customer service is just as lacking, with limited availability and dismissive responses, especially for users in time zones like PST (which is only around midnight). Other apps in the Shopify ecosystem provide better features, superior support, and transparency in billing practices—SKUGEN is simply not worth your time or energy. If you value straightforward tools and ethical customer service, I urge you to look elsewhere. There are far better options available that won’t leave you feeling cheated or ignored.

This app is one of the most important apps we are using. The way we operate would not work without this app. We use it for auto generating SKU's (we have more than 25.000 SKU's) and we use it for printing labels on product that are missing labels. The app is VERY stable and we have used in many years. The support is excellent as well. We have only needed support a few times and they have solved it extremely fast! 5 of 5 stars without a doubt!

This is a great app! It solved all our SKU & barcode generation extremely fast and easy. We were able to use it to customize for the printing labels formats we needed. It is very intuitive to use and has a lot of customization that assures compatibility with any type of printer and paper format. Also, the documentation is detailed and very clear. Ok, so I bought an advanced monthly plan and custom codes which was one time payment. Tried it out and was working. The next day I try to do custom codes, it shows that it's a completely different plan and I don't have access to it. Did you change the plan? This is absurd. I either want a full refund or access that I paid for initially.

This is a very finicky app. In our case we trusted it and it seriously screwed us up (now sure what went wrong in the process). I guess it doesn't check if previous SKUs collided with current SKUs their generation process (even if those were generated by the app). Because of that it generated duplicated SKUs for a couple of our products. This means we printed duplicated SKUs (and barcodes for that matter) and sent badly tagged products to our warehouse. We are having to generate new SKUs for each duplicated product, retrieve all badly tagged products from the warehouse and manually check them one by one to see what they actually are in order to generate new codes. Horrible experience. It works alright in some cases but it makes "small" mistakes... And those mistakes are EXPENSIVE. Also no options to print on Brother printers.

This app generates SKUs for products and variants that we create. A lot of our products are print on demand and they come with their own SKU's. Obviously, you do not want to change the SKUs assigned by a print shop. This app has never changed any of our existing SKUs. It just creates SKUs for the products that don't have one and only if we want it to. Using the same SKUs on Shopify, Etsy, eBay, etc is what makes it possible to use Shopify as the only place we have to process orders. I highly recommend this app if you need to create SKUs for your products.

I am on the free plan and can just click a single button to update all my new items at any time, though I believe this can be automated with a paid plan. I use this app to generate unique SKUs required for listings on Amazon. My supplier SKUs are not unique and needed to be extended with additional characters while preserving the original SKU per my supplier. SKUGen had the functionality I needed to generate a new SKU but not to append to an existing SKU. I reached out and upon careful consideration they made the change and it works great. I high recommend this app.

I used to not have to worry about this app. They did an update at some point that now, half the time, the auto generate doesn't work and I end up have to manually go back and edit sku numbers. it really stinks as I am listing products manually across multiple sales channels and so having the correct sku is super important I'm grandfathered in under the "Price Increase" they had and thinking this may be part of the problem - i.e. a bug of some sort as we're not paying their full premium etc. One would certainly hope that if you are going to pay for the auto generate, it would be reliable. At this point, I am having to go back in and verify the sku was generated and applied. When not, I have to go back and manually correct the SKU in the product and other sales channels. At this point, I most certainly could not recommend this to you for a no hassle auto generate and apply sku solution. It's workable if you don't mind the possibility that you need to go behind the app and correct it.

This is a great app – especially for those who want to generate easy to understand SKU code for the product with options in Japanese. For an example, if a product has a color option "ピンク" (meaning pink in English), you can generate SKU code like P-PINK-0001. The support is extremely quick and efficient. I am very happy to recommend this app!

Amazing app and incredible value for money, as a secondhand store this has allowed us to uniquely identify each product which will revolutionise our picking and packing process. Always very helpful support and quick responses to any questions we might have, plus they have added custom features for us that has really helped us. My only wish would be that when we duplicate a product it automatically overwrites the SKU when you press save without you having to leave the field blank but otherwise couldn't be better!

Omg. This app just saved me sooo much time! I needed over 300 SKUs for my new Shipping Easy inventory management system, and within minutes of downloading this one app I had all of them! There is only one flaw... that there is no button for review :P. I had to manually come to the Shopify store, find the app and review it... come on guys add a review button. P.S. I think you'd benefit more with monthly 0.99$ where you allow automatic SKU gen for newly added products "to custom selected lists". So a feature that I think is missing is that you allow specific end code for each product or for all. Right now it works to do it for all of the product. Imagine, we have a new variant in a product.. now it will get the last number like 1230 or something, instead it should continue with the next in line number for the specific product. #CodesPerProduct

Every time I add a product, SKUgen inserts it before all the serial numbers which inturn raises all the serial numbers it already generated by one. A great way to screw up your inventory management.

This app is amazing. It is the only SKU generator available on Shopify and I need to say that using the premium features it is almost free. We just paid one-off-payment of $9.90 to unlock the app and it has put our store sku product management basically on auto pilot, saving us tens of work of manual work.
