We wanted an app that is stable, focuses on real SEO fundamentals, and doesn’t add unnecessary clutter. What makes Smart SEO stand out is its approach. While many other apps only optimize meta tags (or promote “AI” SEO features), Smart SEO focuses on the core that actually matters, essential SEO setup for Shopify, speed/performance-related factors, and other relevant store-side SEO components. Support has also been excellent. The team is easy to reach by email and provided extended technical support to fix issues and keep our store clean and error-free. They also offered an extended SEO audit using external tools and shared the report with us. In addition, they helped us identify crawl errors and warnings in Google Search Console (GSC) and supported us in resolving them. They even assisted with migrating data from other apps we previously used for things like image/alt settings, llms.txt, and HTML sitemap. A special thank you to Todor for his kind, supportive, and humble guidance. With about 3 years of Shopify experience, we have not found many support people who go so far to understand complex, specific requirements—especially for a diagnostic centre business with medical terminology and structured data needs. For my Shopify ecommerce store, I loved Smart SEO from when I started using it in Sept 2025. It is easy to use and allows me to audit all my product pages for SEO compliance on multiple level with an easy rating system to see when each of my product, collection, blog post pages are SEO compliant. Uploading an updated sitelink to Google is a breeze. After a recent site audit of my website, I found that my my Meta description was pulling on the product description. It turns out this was due to old coding that my previous SEO app code left in my theme. The Sherpas support team did an amazing job and were very clear on what needed to be done and fixed it right away and removed all of the old app's code. Problem solved! I highly recommend Smart SEO if you want to clean up your pages and improve your websites SEO. The Best!!

We have two stores. We use Smart SEO for one of them and I have to say they have a very well, all around pack for a very reasonable price. Support team is friendly and actually know how to troubleshoot when you receive that GSC or GMerchant emails. The only downside for me is the UX, which is a bit basic, but I know for a fact they are working on it. Once this is delivered, this will be an absolute must. They also play along very well with their other app T-Lab for translations, which is also a must for us.

Interface is a bit chaotic. Translations are one of the worst I've ever found in any Shopify App. I wish I would be able to force English as the app language, as Spanish translation is an absolute nonsense and makes working with it cumbersome. Basic things like being unable to only show unoptimized images, or show more than 10 items in a very spaced layout that wastes so much screen space.... I'm starting to seriously consider switching to another app

I have used this app to help me to improve my overall quality of pages in terms of titles and description tags used by search engines to index and display search results. The application was very friendly and easy to use and I was able to quickly resolve issues that were preventing my pages from being indexed and listed correctly. In addition the app support was superb as they identified some other issues that I was facing and quickly and at no cost fixed those issues for me. Overall I would rate this app 5 stars and will continue to use it and gladly pay the small monthly fee to maintain high quality page listings for SEO.

After using this app for quite a while, I feel like I have experienced most of the good and the bad of the app. Overall, this app is very good for assisting you with your SEO on your Shopify store. I have a paid subscription and receive the monthly audits which are helpful. The current layout of the SEO Audit page is very intuitive and easy to use. You can look at various aspects of your store, such as pages, products, collections, etc. to see what needs to be improved. It is also broken into categories of Bad, Moderate, and Good, which helps me know what needs the most attention. I have reached out for service in the past and they were very helpful and professional. I feel like there are a couple of things that could improve. The first is that the app does not differentiate between pages that I have published to my online store vs. pages I only use in my POS system. It would be nice to be able to omit my products I only sell in store as they can make my SEO score seem lower because they don't have meta tags, descriptions, etc. The second improvement is that I would like to see a more comprehensive report on my paid audits, as I struggle to see which pages have been audited and which ones haven't. I have over 7,000 products in my store but only get 1,000 pages audited monthly. I am not sure if the monthly audit is covering a different 1,000 pages each month or not. I know some products that are not my website, but are in my POS, are audited as mentioned above. Overall this is very handy tool and has been a tremendous help in getting my page rankings up. I would definitely reccomend.

As a business owner, there is no way to run a business if the apps used are not working and there is no customer service. Half the time, I couldn't even get into this app (it wouldn't open). The other half of the time I spent days and days trying to get the app to work once it finally opened. There is no customer service. Not a good look. If a business takes your money and gives you nothing in return, that seems like a scam to me! I do not believe that star ratings that they claim.

I have been using this app for some time and I am pleased with my overall experience. It does what it is supposed to do. It makes SEO easy. However, if you have multiple marketplaces or subfolders you need to create meta fields outside the app for the different regions you sell in. So for example if you have one site that sells world wide you are good. However, if you have subdomains (.com/en-us, .com/en-eu) to sell for the US, EU, and so on. You will need to use the Translator and adapt the app to fine-tune each region.

This is a very good, very useful app to clean up your SEO. It's clean, it's nice, it's well coded, it's got educational videos, and support is very responsive and helpful. I cannot emphasize how important good keywords and SEO is for a Shopify store to increase sales. Shopify does not index well so you need to work to figure out the right keywords and SEO meta for better search results. Some strategic planning is necessary and if you have a lot of products, expect a bit of heavy tedious work, but in the end it brings nothing but good results. Smart SEO helps a lot to reduce that work load. My only downvote would be the lack of option to automate product title to alt tags, and the lack of information where to edit errors found in scheme and rich snippets, for example. I also find the AI feature quite weak or useless in some respects; it should allow automated propagation of the product title to save on time. I also wish they had a different pricing structure as I find the price a little heavy for small stores; maybe a one time price to fix issues could be an attractive option. But all in all Smart SEO is a good app. Google ads requires a steep budget nowadays to give good results which doesn't help small shops, so apps like Smart SEO is crucial to increase sales. I've trippled my sales by cleaning up meta tags and keywords.

Updated Review After using the Smart SEO app for about 3 months, I’m disappointed to say that it simply did not meet my expectations. Despite being on the Business Plan, the app failed to deliver the promised improvements, and I’m now happily deleting it. Meta Tags: The app’s approach to meta tags is overly simplistic, focusing only on character counts without taking content relevance or focus keywords into account. This made it difficult to optimize for SEO properly, and the results were underwhelming. Alt Image Attributes: The alt image feature was basic, and I didn’t notice any significant impact on SEO. There was no advanced functionality or customization to help tailor alt tags for my products effectively. Page Speed: One of my major concerns was page speed, which is critical for SEO performance. Unfortunately, the app made no noticeable improvements in this area. Despite multiple tests, my site’s loading time remained the same. JSON-LD and Structured Data: I encountered frequent issues with the JSON-LD structured data, which led to errors in Google Search Console. These problems persisted without resolution, making my SEO efforts more difficult. Broken Links: The broken links feature was essentially useless. Google Search Console continued to report thousands of broken links, and the app didn’t help in fixing them. This added to the frustration of managing my site’s SEO. Sitemap Submission: I had recurring issues with submitting my sitemap to Google Search Console through the app. It either failed to submit or disconnected frequently, causing more issues than it solved. Overall: In the end, Smart SEO proved to be more trouble than it was worth. It didn’t deliver on its promises, and after about 3 months of trying to make it work, I’m happily deleting the app and moving on to better solutions. I wouldn’t recommend this app to other Shopify users based on my experience.
