I don't know why I was trying to do it on my own. We operate in a single state (California) and their tax filings are horrible. Shopify tax was difficult to manually process, and their automated filings worked but wouldn't allow for companies that have to remit monthly tax filings. Tax Rex to the rescue! We are new with them, but communication is great and looks like we are good to go. What was a 1/2 day process trying to sort through reports is now automatic. Thank You!

Tax Rex has been a HUGE help in determining sales tax obligation with the 'Economic Nexus' laws. The app is very simple to use, have very clear reports for filing and is very inexpensive to use given the amount of time we save in reporting tax across several states. Given the very limited Shopify Tax for non-Plus stores, this is a must have to streamline the tax back-end and stay in compliance. I switched from Avalara to Tax Rex and OMG what a change! Customer service is way better, they actually respond in a timely fashion and don't sound like robots. Taxes are calculated correctly (unlike Avalara whose calculations were double what they were supposed to be) and they go out of their way to help.

This app is an absolute must have if you reach nexus in multiple states. Manually dealing with state orgs is such a headache and seriously gave me anxiety in the midst of a busy growing business. Tax Rex has been a lifesaver. I never have to think about taxes. I just get nifty little reports in my email that all has been handled. Last week, I received a state notice for an unpaid month right when we reached nexus and before I'd set up autofile. I was heading out of town and didn't have time to dig into it. I sent an email to Tax Rex support and they handled it while I traveled. Truly a great app and I'm so grateful I don't have to worry about managing taxes anymore.

Tax Rex takes all the guess work out of tracking and remitting Sales Tax for your Shopify store. We need to remit sales taxes each quarter and used to struggle staying on top of this. I want to make these people cookies I like them so much. We have been with Avalara for about 2 years and just went through a major issue where Avalara filed a number of returns for us incorrectly - it was a nightmare. What made it worse was trying to get a hold of someone in their customer service dept who would actually DO something about it. It took two months (yes two months of back and forth) to learn that they wouldn't correct their mistake unless we paid a tremendous amount of money to correct the filings. I have been with Tax Rex for less than two weeks and they've already corrected over half of the filings, been extremely communicative and clear in those communications. It feels like going from some of the worst customer service I've every had to some of the best. I'm so grateful that Tax Rex exists, is so simple to use, responds promptly to questions, and helps as much as possible. I wish I would have switched over a lot sooner!

Many of us medium-sized business owners are facing the out-of-state taxing requirements, not only as a new financial obligation, but also as a massive amount of extra work that has complicated our business. State obligations (Nexus) was probably the largest nation-wide tax increase ever. We can understand states collecting taxes on out-of-state sales, but it is the bureaucratic requirements that have been pushed on Businesses that are ridiculous. You will quickly find that you need to hire an expert service provider that understands the state-to-state requirements – they are all different, time consuming, and full of the typical government style bureaucratic processes. Finding a service like Tax Rex has been great. I looked at several other service providers and their costs were ridiculous and many had very poor service. I tried Tax Jar, Alavara, Tax cloud... None of them compared to the value I have received from TaxRex. I hope by recommending TaxRex that other business owners learn from my experience and take advantage of their services.

As our store has grown quickly in the last several months it has been hard to keep up with everything... and state sales tax is one thing that was not high on the priority list! Once we got nexus is more than a couple of states, it became apparent that we needed a solution to handle the filing for us, and after looking at some much more expensive options we decided to give Tax Rex a try. Amazing app! I've wasted a week trying to make any sense of sales tax numbers (while being audited), until I found Tax Rex. I had to use their feature to request a report for an older period of time (unsupported by Shopify) and they completed it within hours, so I was able to submit all the information that I needed. Also the reporting is presented in a meaningful way - you basically just copy/paste from their report into the tax people's system, it's as simple as that. Love it!

Worth every penny. I use to dred filing monthly sales tax reports, I mean I still do but they were a nightmare of having to pull multiple reports and struggle to get the numbers to match the state forms. It was like filing Federal Taxes once a month. I knew there had to be an easier way so I searched for a tax program and found Tax Rex! After a small learning curve, nothing hard it was just a matter of adjustment. I now complete my taxes in a fraction of the time. Tax Rex places all the data in one place so its easy to see and input into the state filing system. Customer service is also great. Tax Rex recently added the option of auto filing for my state. I haven't taken advantage of that feature yet but probably will in the distant future.

Tax Rex is amazing. Our online business exploded this summer and we met Nexus requirements pretty fast in about 10+ states which we quickly got behind on. I went to work on getting Tax ID's and in this process I found Tax Rex who helped with any needs or questions I had. As I began compiling tax ID's I started setting up the Auto File and the dates in which we met our Nexus requirements and they went to work on filling our Taxes in those states for the months we were behind as well as keeping us from getting further behind at the same time. They have not only saved us a ton of time but have also saved us money from avoiding further penalties. Tax Rex is easy to work with and very knowledgeable. I absolutely knew nothing about filing taxes 2 months ago and its thanks to them.

Very simple app to understand and very thorough! Worth every penny and great support! The only thing that would put it over the top, is the ability to produce all of the numbers in the fields for each state...Meaning, for each month or quarter, it prints out the actual Form and fills in all the numbers automatically.

I highly recommend this App. It isn't perfect for Massachusetts sales tax but it is GOOD ENOUGH so I could file my returns. And $5 per month is a reasonable cost to avoid messing with Shopify export files. Here is the math you have to do if you are using TaxRex in Massachusetts... Massachusetts requires the gross sales monthly total ( TaxRex calculates total and you just have to subtract tax from it) and non taxable sales total (TaxRex does provide the sales tax collected so it is easy enough to calculate what the non taxable amount was (Gross Sales - (Sales Tax/0.0625)) to get the number Massachusetts needs. Go forth and file your sales tax returns! Thanks TaxRex!

This has been a great app for us for calculating all the nexus sales taxes we need to collect and remit each month. The customer support is AWESOME, fast and very helpful. Doing my quarterly taxes in Florida is brutal. This app cut the time by 300%, easily. Excellent app. The only thing I'd like to see is the county/locale included in the output report...but seriously? It's FREE and it's amazing. Great job guys...thank you for saving me some gray hair.
