Preorders are a nightmare for my shop and i've tried all sorts of methods to make it easier over the years but this app is the best i've found. The flexibility in the settings to create individual customer experiences for each preorder product and set cart warnings for mixed carts is excellent. All rounded off by a super competent and responsive real person chat support (thanks especially to Robert who went the extra mile!). Highly recommend!

I had such an amazing experience working with Ken and Jake! They truly went above and beyond to help me with using Times Act for my Shopify account, especially with setting up my pre-order. From start to finish, they were incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and kind. What stood out the most was how intentional they were about making sure I fully understood everything. They didn’t rush the process at all they paused to check in, answered all my questions, and made sure my needs were completely met. I installed this app based on their advertised free plan and the 'MAKE IT 3X' bonus limit. However, the reality is very misleading. When you contact support to activate the bonus, they demand a video testimonial featuring your face to unlock it. Worse, their support agent confirmed that this '3x limit' (30 orders) is NOT a recurring monthly limit. It is a one-time, lifetime cap. Once you hit those 30 orders, the free plan is gone forever and you are forced into a paid subscription. Tricking merchants into providing face-video reviews for a 'free plan' that has hidden, non-renewing limits is a blatant bait-and-switch tactic. If you are looking for an app with a transparent, recurring monthly free tier, look elsewhere. Uninstalled.

Great app that just works. Timesact automatically tracks all out-of-stock variant SKUs and switches them to pre-order without me having to lift a finger. The interface is really intuitive — easy to set up and manage even with a large catalog. After a long time researching which app would be perfect for my shop's pre-order and notify me (email collection) functionality, I decided to give Timesact a try. The free functionality is so good, and when I was playing around and setting things up the first hour of downloading it, I ran into an issue (which ended up being my theme's issue, not theirs). I chatted with customer support and immediately got help. Not only that, I got transferred to someone that can code the theme, and we got on a quick call so she could fix it for me and show me some features of Timesact (shout-out to Rochelle!!!). I said this on the call and I'll say it here: it's unbelievable the amount of customer service I received without being a paying customer. Totally mind blown, and the app works perfectly for what I'm looking for. I was going to upgrade anyway down the road, but now I'll definitely be upgrading. If you're on the fence, this is a sign to not be - just download Timesact!

UPDATE: Very upset; the pre-order option just charges customers without warning. I've had so many customers reach out pissed off about this. there needs to be a notification email or something; and notify us too like wtf. these are item that I am not sure when exactly they will come in so the second payment is based on estimated date of arrival; we need some kind of notifications somewhere to make this process better. DO BETTER! So far so good! Our business makes custom suits for action figures so we use the pre-order/made to order function. So far it works great. When I had trouble, their support staff Jolo helped quickly and solved the issue. I would recommend this app.

Update Jan 2026: the app has been very good, but not without issues, although they were usually solved quickly by the app team. This has been the best of a dozen backorder apps I have tried; but in my experience backorder apps are tricky and tend to interfere with other site functions, especially when there is a Shopify update or change to something else on the site. This is not isolated to Timesact by any means and as I said this is the most successful one I have tried yet, but as a sole business owner with not much tech knowledge (or none!) it is too stressful and too much work/time to keep a backorder app installed so I think this will be the last month of use for me. But, if you are after a good backorder app I would definitely give this one a go :-) ......... Have been very pleased with the app generally anyway, but needed to query a potential issue that came up. Very quick response and provided a helpful solution. Can't ask for more!

Been using this app for a couple of years now. First of, the app is pretty expensive. The app works, however, there is so much clicking around to do. The main problem and the reason for the 2 stars is that the app doesn't work for orders received via Shop Pay, Buy Button or any other accelerated checkout buttons/ apps. The company will be ready to blame Shopify for this. Other than the sleek UI and some customization abilities, nothing good in terms of making it easy for the Shopify seller.
