We have been using Weglot for our multilingual Shopify store for quite some time now, and the app has been an excellent investment for our international SEO strategy. What really stands out is the support team. We recently outgrew our current plan due to the expansion of our website with many new technical pages, blogs and multilingual content. Instead of simply pointing us to a much more expensive standard plan, the Weglot team took the time to understand our situation and came back with a custom Pro+ plan that perfectly fits our current needs. Impossible to give more than one star. I spent over an hour trying to set up this app. Even after following all the instructions, the warning messages kept appearing despite everything being correctly enabled in Shopify. The interface is confusing, the setup process is not intuitive, and the app feels full of bugs. It's impossible to tell whether the issue comes from the app or the configuration. To make things worse, there isn't even a live chat. If you need help, you're told to send an email and wait. Very disappointing first experience. I've uninstalled the app and will be looking for another solution. Goodbye.

I have been using this app for almost 5 years. Would I use it again for a new brand? Probably not. There are too many complex issues when it comes to Shopify Markets and backend translations. And when you need customer support the most, you often have to wait 5 to 6 hours just to get a response by email. Guys, even in 2026, for such a big company, they still don’t offer proper chat support. Then, after a few rounds of emailing, the person helping you is suddenly off, someone else takes over, and you have to explain the whole issue again from the beginning. On top of that, it’s not the cheapest option. I am still using it because I don’t want to translate the whole website again. Also, their automatic translations are pretty useless because they don’t properly respect informal or formal language. To enable that, you need to be on the Advanced plan, which I think costs around €300 The only thing I do like is that the app can detect and translate almost everything. Well, almost. You still need Shopify’s Translate & Adapt for backend translations such as checkout and email notifications. Honestly, I would not recommend installing it. Save yourself the headache and stress. You are probably better off using Shopify Translate & Adapt.

Uninstall doesn't clean up, caused massive hidden revenue loss months later. Plus billing kept running after removal. We installed Weglot to test internationalization on our Shopify store, decided it wasn't right for us, and uninstalled within days. Two serious problems followed: 1. They kept charging us for 3 months after we uninstalled. The app was removed from our Shopify store, but the charges continued through Shopify Billing for three full months. We had to chase them down through support to stop it and request refunds. Watch your billing statements carefully uninstalling the app from Shopify does NOT automatically cancel your Weglot subscription. 2. Hidden URL residue caused months of bot traffic and a major revenue hit. When Weglot is active, it creates locale subpaths on your domain (/it/, /de/, /fr/, /ru/, etc.) for translated content. When you uninstall, those URLs stay indexed in Google and continue to be hit by bot crawlers, AI search results, and old links — indefinitely. There's no in-app cleanup, no warning that this will happen, no instructions on how to remove the URLs from search engines. In our case, these zombie URLs (we don't even sell in those markets) became a magnet for bot/scraper traffic. The volume was high enough that our edge layer's bot-mitigation kicked into overdrive and started returning 403 errors on cart.js for real shoppers whose network profile happened to resemble the bot signatures. Add-to-Cart silently broke for thousands of US customers across multiple devices and browsers. They saw the Add-to-Cart button, clicked it, nothing happened. They bounced. We only caught it through Noibu (an error-monitoring app), which flagged 4,165 affected sessions in a single week with zero progressing to checkout. Estimated annual revenue impact: $104k. When we finally traced it back, the fix took manual work on our side: ~24 Shopify URL redirects, robots.txt customization, and Google Search Console URL removals — none of which Weglot helps with at uninstall. For other merchants considering Weglot: - Before you install, ask in writing how to fully remove URL artifacts at uninstall - Confirm in writing how to cancel billing (assume uninstall ≠ cancellation) - Track your conversion + bot traffic for weeks AFTER uninstall, not just during use - The damage from URL residue can dwarf any short-term value of trying the app. We lost months of clarity on why our conversion was degrading before tracing it back here. Weglot's "easy install, easy uninstall" framing is misleading. Uninstall is not clean

After a comparison with the comparable (non-AI based) translation apps and a few years with Weglot, I can say the following: this app has most of the functions you need for international trade at this time. Make sure that you have a thorough understanding of translation before implementing a translation app. Weglot offers many practical guides as PDFs on their website. It takes some time to familiarize yourself with the app, but translations are also a technically demanding field. The support is goal-oriented, responds quickly and is always friendly. They went the extra mile and implemented a custom solution for the hreflang tags if you use Shopify markets. It makes sense to take some time and carry out the full implementation with the help of the support team.

I was using the native Shopify translate tool at first which A) limited you to two languages and B) translates with Google translate, which in the age of AI no longer cuts it. Weglot provides much better quality translations, much more customisations and has high quality and responsive customer support. As I sell internationally, I see the money spent is an investment to boost conversion rather than a cost.

I would have given it 0 stars if that were possible. This app was recommended by an agency, but they clearly haven’t used it much. Translating our mega menu is impossible. The default translations are catastrophic, Google Translate does a better job. And when you need to make changes, it’s only word by word. In short, don’t waste your time or your money.

La pire app que j'aie utilisée. Pour qu'elle fonctionne, il faut changer les DNS de ma boutique. Résultat : quand j'ai désinstallé l'app, et que j'ai voulu remettre les DNS d'origine, cela a créé un problème technique majeur qui a rendu ma boutique inaccessible pendant une journée, et m'a fait perdre beaucoup de temps pour que je comprenne quel était le problème et comment le régler. Shopify ne devrait pas permettre à des apps d'imposer des changements de DNS comme le fait Weglot.

Updated comment:After testing a couple of other applications, I have to admit that Weglot is by far the fastest and easiest when it comes to actual translation. This is thanks to its unique way of handling translations virtually, so your pages are instantly available in other languages. The glossary management is also extremely convenient. The only technical challenge I faced was setting up subdirectories. If pricing isn’t an issue for you, this app easily deserves five stars. My three-star rating is purely because of the pricing model. ------- Original review One of the most baffling applications I’ve used — and not in a good way. Eventually, you’ll find yourself deep in a rabbit hole, trying to exclude as many translations as possible, as Weglot keeps inflating the word count day by day. And their word count estimation tool? Completely misleading — don’t rely on it. Our small business (200 products), with only two translated languages, somehow exceeds 200,000 words, putting us in the $299/month pricing tier. That’s just not sustainable. We’ll absolutely need to look for an alternative solution. That said, full credit to their support team — they’ve been responsive, proactive, and genuinely trying to help throughout this frustrating experience.

It's the worst app I've used. The website loads with no texts, then all the text appears after 3-4 seconds. Also, I deleted the app and since I have to change my DNS a records for this tool, now my website is not working at all... I never saw an app with a worst setup and execution. And for $32, is a rip off.

We've been dealing with 4 languages on our Euro website. Managing these by hand was too complex and costly. And even when doing it by hand, a lot of translations get lost through the cracks. We also tried other auto translate apps. These apps were not reliable because they were either limited in the number of translations or just would take days to translate a simple website. Weglot fixed all this! It took a bit of time to setup properly since we use sub-folders for our languages but once we got it setup with the help of the Weglot team it translated our website on the fly! No need to wait days, every page is translated as it's loaded. And the options for translations are much more advanced. You can have words that never get translated (ex: your brand name and trademarks). You can force some words to be translated in a certain way (good for words that have multiple meanings). Overall this app is well worth the price. Having a full time employee translating would cost much more. And finding one person that speaks 4 languages willing to translate our site full time is almost impossible. Highly recommended!

Our experience with Weglot turned into a complete nightmare. What was supposed to be a simple translation solution ended up disrupting our entire website theme. As a result, four different parties had to spend several days repairing the damage. Even after removing Weglot, code remnants remain, continuing to affect the stability of our site. Additionally, the online fix provided on their website simply does not work. Overall, a very frustrating experience that we wouldn’t wish on anyone. Note: After this, Weglot proactively reached out to us and resolved the issue — for which we are truly grateful. This helpful follow-up is the reason we decided to adjust our review from 1 star to 4 stars. Thank you for the support.

1-Star (Wish I Could Give 0) – Deceptive Billing & Unauthorized Charges I canceled my subscription two months ago, yet I’m still being charged 325/ month. When I signed up I picked the 39/month Business plan, but the platform automatically enabled a hidden "Volume Upgrade" option—something I never noticed or consented to. Because of this deceptive practice, I was charged over $300/month for four months before realizing what happened. Even after canceling, the charges continue. This is predatory behavior—shame on this company for exploiting customers with sneaky auto-upgrades and ignored cancellations. I’ve already taken action by: Reporting to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) Disputing all charges with American Express Filing complaints with relevant consumer protection agencies

The app is easy to install and to use. Our plan got upgraded automatically once we reached the words limit, so now it is quite pricey for us. Since I am not a technical person, I didn’t know how to perform the system updates. Although I was generally satisfied with Weglot’s translation service, I was almost going to cancel the system since I got stuck with error messages. I will be honest and say that, in the beginning, I found this app quite complicated and kept going back to more simple apps from competitors only to get massively frustrated by their lack of functionality. So, in the end, I took some time to read the massive amount of documentation that Weglot provide (including videos) and bring myself up to speed and I have not been disappointed - this app is the only one on the market that has such capabilities (trust me, I tried them all). And then, when I am unable to proceed (due to my own limited skills) the support team are just outstanding - quick and so helpful, I really haven't had an experience like this. My store is now totally translated into EN, FR and NL perfectly - thanks, Weglot.

If most of the others had to correct 70-80% of the text, this one has +-20%, and even that is minor corrections. Update review early April: After my latest update and 1-star review (see below) and the removal of Weglot on our store / stopping our subscription, I've been properly contacted by the Weglot support team. They offered another try (normally the saying goes "three times a charm", but this would be "four times a charm") to see if we could get the implementation to work, where needed with support from their dev team. After some initial checks back & forth earlier this week and granting Weglot access to our Shopify environment, today we've had a support hotline with Guillaume and the team at Weglot. Step by step we've jointly redone the multi-language subdirectory implementation. After having completed the steps, we again we're confronted with some of the errors that occured earlier. However, this time with the support of their development team, they did some changes in the implementation (excluding some CSS & Javascript files), which positively resulted in a properly working Weglot implementation with Sub-directories in 3 additional languages. Credits to their support team this time: friendly, fast, patient and knowleadgable! Initial 1-star review late march: We've done 3 attempts to get Weglot properly installed including the required DNS settings. In jan/feb we did it ourselves, which resulted in our website complete going offline as some other reviewers also mentioned. DNS propagation can take longer, but this was longer as normal. Last week we did another try, this time having given Weglot's support access to our store and they did it via a second option with another CDN provider, as the default one "gave a conflict" according to their support in jan/feb. So Weglot's friendly support did the implementation now, but still with the same results, almost 24 hours completely offline, from multiple locations across the globe, so it doesn't feel like a normal results of "DNS propagation". Also, Weglot's support indicated they've never seen it take this long and couldn't find a reason why it doesn't work for us as everything was implemented correctly and working for them as they said. So now we uninstalled the plugin, having to source for another solution again. I have to say that the speed and friendliness of Weglot's customer support is good, it didn't solve our issues however. So now we'll be looking for an alternative.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. SO MUCH DAMAGE ON MY STORE AND INCOME LOSS!!! They don’t take any accountability for the mess they make. My website is down already for 7 days!! I am receiving an error because they messed up my DNS completely and now globally my website is down. I contacted my domain name provider and Shopify and they did everything they could and all settings are correct, but Weglot still holds some kind of access to my website which causes the error even though I deleted everything and completely uninstalled and removed my profile with them. They don’t take any responsibility and just say it’s not their fault and I need to resolve with Shopify. IT IS 10000% THEIR FAULT and Shopify is also at a loss and can’t do anything further except determine wether they should still allow Weglot on their App Store! As soon as I untoggled the option for Weglot to use subdirectories my website was down and nothing has brought it back yet. They still have not resolved it to this day and every day goes by with us losing a lot of money.

This is the best language translator app! You have the option to do automatic translation and then fine tune small details if necessary. It is also possible to add subdomains and subdirectories which is amazing for SEO and I noticed an increase in international traffic since I applied that feature. I had an issue with translating something that was in javascript on my site and I messaged Corentin and he helped me right away. He knew exaclty what I needed and made the change. I had a second change that I needed later that day and it was done within 10 minutes! So not only do I recommend this app for it's features but also for the customer support which is incredible!

Weglot is the best translation app for my shopify store. The default language of my store is Arabic, and i wanted to expand my reach to all people who speaks English. I installed weglot to my store, but i faces some issues in the alignment of the store's content and some other elements. It required some coding which I'm not perfect at. We dont recommend Weglot. Its really unstable and has much bugs and make MUCH EXTRA WORK. When you make translations, they dont appear in the webshop. We sell globally high quality electronics and it makes it harder so we are trying to find an another service.

The translation of the app was excellent. I only had to manually exclude a few words from being translated and the result was near perfect. I had a French version of my site up and running in only a couple of hours. Customer service is also stellar. I had an issue when I changed to subdirectory mode with product pages not showing the translated version, and the customer support team quickly had the issue resolved.

The app is good really. I used it for more than one year. Extreme accuracy and ability to refine translations. The only downside is the high pricing. I ended up in paying 100$ per month for a 100 visits per day website. Too high. That made me uninstall the app. You should also beware that your subscription won't stop just by uninstaling the app. They will continue in charging you if you won't disable it via your weglot account (not that easy). You should also disable the plan auto-update system. You may end up in paying much more than you planned for that kind of service.

CAREFUL - hidden quotas and Checkout is not translated I have used several translation apps in the past and wanted to see what Weglot offers, they charge pretty much the highest fees of all of them, so you might think that they offer the best service and product. I have a store that used to run in 20 different languages, Weglot charges 299$ for that, so to test I went for the 5 languages for 79$. Setup is quite simple, switcher can be placed to the individual's liking, nothing wrong there, Weglot also offers to use a "fallback" language which is great when your store is not in English and the customer's browser language is not available. The translations seemed pretty decent too. Now you might wonder why Weglot only gets 2 stars? First of all, after you sign up, there is a "translation request count" maximum which was not clarified on the offer page before signing up, only when scrolling down and searching for it do you find it. This translation request count is not pageviews as they say it would be. In my manual tests one pageview was able to generate 14 "translation requests", so you can imagine that your monthly quota is not the amount you think it is, but actually a small fraction of it. Ok, this is something to keep in mind that may raise the price for you if you have a lot of traffic. But the final thing that makes this app basically unusable is that the checkout is not properly translated, one of the most important pages in the purchasing process. Some of it is translated, but you can't manage any translations of the checkout and what is fatal is that the products that the customer wants to check out with are not properly translated, neither the titles nor the variant description of the product. So a customer wants to check out, looks at what products he will be paying for and is left confused. This generates a lot higher abandonment checkout rate. I have seen many apps have issues with it, however, what I used before worked, but didn't translate all variant names properly. Weglot doesn't translate that part at all. They even told me that they have no influence at all on the checkout and its translation, I mean come on, you are a translation app. If they would say that upfront, ok, you could make an informed decision, however on their website they claim, that from popup to checkout, everything is easy and translated which is simply not true, false advertisement on their part. To me, an app that translates but leaves out one of the most important pages is simply worthless. I have tried for several days with the support to find a solution, one of the solutions that was offered included deleting previous translations and after that, nothing worked properly anymore, the checkout was not translated at all, not even parts of it, and I had huge issues afterward. The amount of damage that this app has caused (lost sales, work to rebuild everything back up) is pretty high. This part is way worse than their high fees. I give 2 stars because the support in the end did refund the rest of my subscription time. In my opinion they should've refunded entirely because i only had trouble with the app and it never did what they advertised it to do, but at least that. Hope it helps, if you are looking for a complete translation solution I can't recommend Weglot.

How unbelievable braindead the setup process is: DNS A "You must replace the current DNS you have, not add a new one" Well, that sounds weird, but okay, it look like it is the next step. Forgot to mention it says in the fine print on a different page NOT to actually do that. Because then your domain gets disconnected from Shopify, which takes now up to 48hours to rectifiy. Great job, Weglot. You just cost me 2 days of revenue for idiot UX design. Well done.

Great app, the setup is simple, and it translates everything automatically for you. When you want to go through the automatic translations, you can use a visual editor to make the changes directly in the store and not by clicking through text fields without context. On top of that, I removed the app. almost 2 years ago and still have tags and scripts that mess up my URLs and redirect to 404 dead links. Noone had the decency of reaching out to us to tell us how to uninstall the app correctly and at least mention that if you do not delete the app. many bugs will occur if USA customers log in as their IP is redirected to www.domain.com/en-us/en-us/en/us/en-us and cannot be removed so, you get broken links and we have dropped 50% of our sales becomes of them plus because of their unprofessionalism, we never knew that the site was broken. Merci Weglot vous êtes vraiment des incompétents. A Canadian VERY unhappy customer.

I have to say that I'm a tad disappointed with weglot. There's a few things that frustrate me. 1) the pricing. It's expensive compared with other similar apps 2) the support. Every month we seem to go over our word count. We've tried removing languages. But we've just launched a new theme and within days it says we're almost exceeding our translations. So something's not right? Support isn't very good at explaining. I'm thinking of looking elsewhere

Although the UI seems outdated, the app performed pretty good. Helpdesk is excellent, really helpful. So why only 3 stars? Well after two years somehow I'm reaching the 200.000 words limit. I only have like 100 products in 5 languages and the price will go to a staggering 300 euro/month. I have bespoke coding made to integrate the language switcher in the header and did a lot of manual translating which I will now loose because I have to switch to something cheaper. So if you're choosing a translation app, word count is something to take very seriously. Please bare in mind that you have to add dynamic content manually, like quickshop, teasers, some 3rd party app stuff. Support will help you with this.

We've been using translation apps for years now and Weglot has been the one we stuck with. It's got a lot of great features that let you control which words you want to be translated, it can also translate external javascript code from other apps and lets you export or translate directly in the browser. But one of the most important reasons we stuck with Weglot is for their excellent customer service. So many apps these days have a ghost for service. This is not the case with Weglot. They are always really quick to reply to our messages and will fix any problem or extra help we need to get some special words translated.

I have used the app almost 3 months now. First on the free plan and then quickly changed to the advanced plan because of some of the features I needed. I have had a look into a handful of different apps before that and Weglot seemed the most professional to me. I was not dissapointed. They have a very clear and detailed help center on their website. Our shop is not the most straightforward. We have a number of 3rd party apps and work a lot with custom pages built with templates in the customizer in the Dawn Theme. Weglot was able to translate everything that I needed. I had a lot of email exchange with the Weglot support because of some tricky things that were not translated right away like dynamic content, app content or were translated although they should not be, like hidden content. But Jeremie and especially Alexis were incredibly helpful, very fast with their reactions and always really patient. Where there was no straightforward solution, they offered workarounds and now I can say I am very happy with the result while also seeing good improvements with my search engine rankings. Thanks a lot, Weglot team and especially Alexis and Jeremie!

Do not use this app, it never translates my company name properly. Every single time I add a new product, I must open the app and fix the way that my company name is spelled. It can't even translate the word "meters" properly. I have changed specific words so many times it feels like at this point the app is just not saving what im fixing, and I have to constantly re-do it. This is by far the worst translation app I've ever had to use, and I can't switch to another app because then all my progress would be gone and I would have to re-translate everything.

The application works quite well overall but beware, the creation of subdirectories is still in beta test. Basically the application creates subdomains. Even by increasing my package I had translations that were not done. Store speed dropped form 89 to 16!!! They worked in my code without permission and just "rmoved" some optimized code. Storefront was damaged fro 5 days, all you get are snotty arrogant replies for created problems by them, trying to avoid clear communication. We have several shops and work with a lot of developers, we are on the Pro Plan here. customer service was never great, always leaving out details but this is just disrespectful to the core. you ask them what option exist for setting the language switch and they go into live them, remove optimized code and set the ugly switch in the middle! of the slider and thereby move my whole menu and leave it broken for days. Good developers always check what your want and work in a test theme to avoid damages. there are much better apps out there with integrated currency change and respectful customer service. go there. Update: They did not "reach out" several times as mentioned by weglot, they just did reply via mail. It seems one person is working on the answers, another person on the actual theme but details and requests just get lost. Write them ten times what you want and need and be sure only one problem will be maybe looked after. There was never an apology for the issues created by them and our store is still not back on its original speed.

The automatic translations often don’t make any sense. The words are translated but you will have to go over the translations to make sure they are correct. Once you have done all this, weglot will continuously over write all your hard work over and over again with the translation that makes no sense. There is no way to stop this from happening. I DO NOT recommend this app because of that.

Extremely disappointed. SEO translations work bad, Media translations do not work at all. So at first everything looks kinda OK. But when you deep into it, you realize how bad the whole situation is. First -- SEO translation. You can translate meta tags, but it is really hard to find them in the list, and when you try to go page by page, it simply does not work. If your website has more than 10 pages, you will struggle. Next. This app advertises it has a media translation function. While I can confirm there is a button for this, I cannot confirm this function works. In my case it simply does not do anything. After 2 weeks of endless talks with support, I received a message that the issue is too complex for them to solve and that is because of the Shopify theme. I mean...well...why there is nothing written about it? Like "Function X works only with themes X, Y and Z". And the support reps aren't exactly the fastest in terms of responsiveness and helpfulness. Decide on your own, in my case this app was a waste of money and an extreme waste of time.
