The customer service for the Rewind app is fantastic. Vitor spent significant time patiently providing comprehensive explanations (via email and video call) of all of the different elements of our plan and what we need to do to ensure our site can be safely restored if needed. There are certainly aspects to be aware of when using the app - things that cannot be backed up due to privacy, API complexities, etc. But, with help from their customer support, I now better understand what is backed-up and what is not, and can proceed with development plans knowing exactly what can be restored if need be.

We lost our Website in Mar 26 while we were away. The 'bug' in the software was from Orderly emails. Rewind helped us recover our website from the backups taken by their product. A couple of learning from this exercise might help our customers:- 1. The entire website is not backup probably because some of the linkages is in Shopify code rather than within the database. 2. This would mean what we had to do - manual fixes. 3. You can get a file from Rewind that has some technical data on it for your own backup, however, unless you have access to a Shopify type test environment and a strong programming background, its pointless. In an environment where there are many vendors, Shopify and 3rd party Shopify approved vendors, what we have come to realise is that onus to fix the issue on a single suppier, is largely "absent". If the backup from Rewind does not work or fails to restore the site, the customer is on their own.

I have successfully restored in the past with Rewind. I used to have a good review for this app. We triggered a blog restore on a Friday and were not able to recover the data until one of their support members restored it manually on the folowing Tuesday. By that time, we were no longer getting traffic on previously highly ranked keyword. If this would have been product data, we would have been out of business for 3 days, since there was nobody on the other side to provide support. A backup tool must have integrity, availability and reliability. By being unable to restore, 2 of these were broken, and my trust on this app with them. Moving to another solution.

I can't imagine losing any of my data. Accidents happen and if you delete something by mistake, it's gone. Thanks to Rewind I don't have to worry about that. [Update] - Well it happened :( I had two products open that were very similar and I mistakenly made some of the edits to the wrong one. I went to the Rewind app, found the right version and restored the page. It worked beautifully! [3–31-26 Update] Another app in my store inadvertently deleted all my smart collections. Was able to restore them with Rewind. And their support staff sent me a PDF of my menus so I could recreate them. The other app support wasn’t much help.

Used this for more than 3 years. Logged in today and noticed that our account was deactivated because we have not logged in for over 90 days. This is a back and restore app. So we will have a need to login to check only when there is a need for a restore. However, the app did not stop collecting the charges for all these months. To add to the woes, the account restoration also did not work.

Support have been great responding to my queries and assisting with requests I have made. We have two Shopify sites that use the Rewind Backup app, and their support was happy to talk me through setting up the app on our second site so that we could bundle them both into one subscription. I used to love this app, but they brough up the price which is fine (but no notificiation), they had also failed to answer my 4 email requests asking for a JSON hard copy. In fact I haven't heard from them since Christmas time. For backing up your shopify store I advise other options. Thanks ---- Updating this review from Feb 18th as support reached out. It turned out that the email stopped being recognized by their support system. This has since been resolved and with helpful support I have gone back to them as you need good backups and a helpful person/good customer service at the other end. Otherwise it just doesn't work. Regarding price change I just missed the notification. Thanks

I have installed the app then cancelled the app in trial period. But still charged for the monthly payment that starts from the date when this app installed. Shopify support is even worse in app and theme support. They are only the collection agents and don’t have any responsibility to resolve disputes with the app developers.

I am so angry and annoyed at this back app. I had to restore all my collections and when I did I noticed all the manual sort orders were not there any longer for over 1500 products - reason - just as other poor reviews of this app state they said "due to Shopify’s API limitations not sharing this information". This app KNOWS of the the things which Shopify is not sharing with it as when there is an issue - you are clearly told this when you have an issue restoring. But only then! There needs to be a much better upfront list of what is not backed up as this app is putting you in a complete false sense of security with its fancy weekly emails which lead you to believe everything is being backed up. Well.. the reality is you'll only learn of what is not being backed up when you try and restore. I regret using the app now as the very first time I have needed to use ti - the money invested in having it has not paid off. So I feel it's a waste of time. I could have manually backed up the elements this site is not backing up - if I has been told about them. Very poor on the part of this site. In this situation both Shopify and Rewind Backups were equally useless. Please be aware to quiz this app on what is not being backed up and don't be fooled by all the glossy sales copy from them.

No humans at their chat service. Regrets to have subscribed for more than a year with this company. With the help of Shopify AI I could finally cancel the subscription uninstalling this app.

I do not recommend this app. It no longer backs up inventory tracking quantities, so when you restore listings in Shopify, all items are returned as untracked inventory. Rewind informed me that due to Shopify’s API limitations, they’re unable to properly track inventory quantities within listings. This means that if you need to restore products you accidentally deleted, you still have to manually re-enable inventory tracking for each item and physically recount and re-enter all stock quantities. Given the high price point, the app doesn’t offer nearly enough time savings or functionality to justify the cost.

company violates shopify subscription policy, and makes cancellation nearly impossible. Had to reinstall and go through a process that was not previously available to "uninstall". I have sent countless emails requesting cancellations and they still charge our account. I also had to reinstall the app just to leave this review, and now will uninstall.

Don't use this app. It's fine in case of a data crash, but if you want to export your data with less than 6 months of subscription, they flatly refuse. If you want to temporarily stop your activity while keeping your data, it will be impossible...

All my store fonts changed overnight, and when I asked Shopify as to why, they said the Rewind app had made the change to my site: "Rewind Backups is a backup and restore application, and it should not be making active changes like changing your website's fonts. However, sometimes third party app coding can effect the theme fonts and design." Very worrying that Rewind can completely change the look of your site without you even wanting it. I contacted Rewind 24 hours ago and have not heard back. Their customer support is way too slow when you have issues, especially when our monthly charges have increased from $3 to $19!

Terrible experience with Rewind I’ve had this app for over 4 years and honestly, it’s been nothing but disappointing. In all that time, I only needed to use it once—and it failed completely. Their response? An apology and two months of free credit, which didn’t come close to covering the huge amount of work we lost. To make matters worse, they quietly increased the subscription from $3 to $19 without ever notifying us. We ended up paying this massive price hike without even knowing. On top of that, the app is full of bugs. Just yesterday, our store (surface-2-air-sports.myshopify.com) couldn’t even connect because of an ERR_BLOCKED_BY_RESPONSE error. Bottom line: Do not waste your money on Rewind. It’s unreliable, overpriced, and not worth the risk.

The only time I ever needed to revert to a back-up due to a coding mix-up, I learned it was not automatic and I needed to contact someone to do it. With response times taking 2 days each time, it was quite frustrating. You can imagine, when you need to revert your website due to a coding error, you want it to revert asap. I ended up just hiring a coder to fix it. That said, I decided to continue using the app as a fail-safe, just in case. However, with their recent announcement that they are taking a *100%* price increase (yes, 100%) next month, I am moving on to another backup app. I get the cost of business is going up, but for an app with no COGs, no Tariffs, etc, a 100% increase is ridiculous. Bye bye.

1. prices got higer, but ok. Everythings getting more expensive 2. i tried to import a csv and tested it first. With a few products. Some of them have variants. After I saw the import failed and the variants are gone, I restored it with rewind. After that, the variants were back, but with wrong inventory. After asking AI how to backup and restore the inventory amount etc. as well, it says it´s not possible at all. But on the website it says, this tool does backup the inventory as well. So, higher prices for less than promised. Now I am not sure if i can rely on other things as well... lets see what the support can tell here.

We've been using Rewind for a few years & was convenient to have old listings archived without having them present in the background. While Rewind was probably our favorite app on our list, they slipped when they notified us of a soon-to-be price increase from an affordable $9/mo to $19/mo. This price increase in this economy is not sustainable to the small business that already a ticket holder on the struggle-bus. On the hunt for another service that offers the same support minus the huge price per month.

I would strongly caution anyone considering this app. After years of paying for their service, I discovered I had been overcharged more than 50% above the publicly listed plan price for nearly 80 months. The company never informed me of this “silent” price change, and when I raised the issue, they insisted it was correct — despite their own archived website and Shopify App Store listings proving otherwise. To make matters worse, they recently announced yet another price increase, even though the first one was never communicated transparently. Their explanations shifted, citing plans that simply never existed, which only undermines confidence further. This kind of billing practice feels dishonest and predatory, especially toward long-time customers who trusted them. After this experience, my trust in this company is completely gone. There are other backup apps available on Shopify that offer the same features at the advertised prices — I’d recommend exploring those instead.

I wanted insurance that all my long hours building a replacement Shopify store would not be lost. Rewind just worked in the background with a weekly reassuring backup summary email. Until I trusted some AI liquid coding advice too blindly and needed to restore three different templates. The process was self explanatory, easy to understand without any need for documentation or contact with support. When it came time to replace my site, things became a bit tangled with my confusion and Shopify's back-end. Everything was finally straightened out but my new store was not able to be backed up via Rewind anymore. After a few very prompt, patient, support emails, it was suggested a zoom call would be the best way forward. It was nice to put a face to Stephan, who had mainly been supporting my issues, and that remote support session put things right; all very friendly and professional. I'm now looking forward to quiet background backups once again, where I get my work done but secure in knowing if something happens I've got a tested recourse. Thank you everybody at Rewind.

There are other better options. Some of our SKUs got corrupted due to an incorrect file upload. The back-up restore feature did not work.When we contacted support, there was no response. When they need to increase your plan and charge more money, they seem to have enough resources for that. This app has proved to be useless to us. Find someone else.

A week ago, while connecting Shopify to JTL Wawi using the JTL Connector app, I lost all my product data. I was extremely frustrated. The JTL Connector app overwrote all the product data in Shopify with empty rows. A complete disaster! I honestly don't understand why JTL doesn't have a built-in security mechanism for this. Anyway... Luckily, I had recently activated Rewind Backups. When I used the last backup to restore, I was disappointed to discover that Rewinds doesn't save or restore automated backups of the product meta fields I had spent a long time and painstakingly creating. Oh no! My frustration was even greater. Was all the data really lost? When I contacted Rewinds Support, wondering if there was any way to salvage my many meta fields, I immediately received extremely friendly assistance. A huge THANK YOU to Bianca and Stephan. Within 5 days, all the lost data was restored. Hallelujah! As I subsequently learned, automated restoration of meta fields is currently not possible with Rewind's backup. Rewind requires manual intervention. But they do it brilliantly. So, anyone who loses their data (especially product meta fields) but has a Rewind backup should take a deep breath and contact the support team. Miracles still happen. Dear Rewind team, thank you so much for the amazing help. Absolutely fantastic! Thanks for everything. Best regards.

After doing a backup, certain in-text images did not get restored. Contacted support, although they were nice, could not fix the issue and said that Rewind Backups does not include these images. I had to manually fix many, many product pages and put these images back. Then, a few weeks later these images were again removed, without doing a backup. Again, this is costing us many hours of manual work to restore these images. We had a paid subscription and expected better performance. If you are looking for an app that restores ALL aspects of your site, including all images, then don't use this app.

App did not backup and restore Variant data and metafields. The AI Chat and help files inform of API limitations, but other Apps can do it. Look elsewhere and save yourself the pain of data loss.

Installed 3 years ago as a way to make sure I sleep at night but never had a need for it, and personally was slightly questioning the monthly cost. Yesterday we had an issue with an app uninstalling badly from our store resulting in us losing some functionality. An initial restore got most things sorted, reached out to the team and within 2 hours a full restore of other parts was done by the team and everything is up and running again.

I have had Rewind installed since 2020 and I've never had a reason to use it until recently when there was an issue with deleted items in our store. I have been using The Rewind Backup app for a while now. It gives me peace of mind to know that if I mess up a theme by changing the wrong setting I will be able to roll it back to last (daily) backup. I am new to shopify. I came from Wordpress/Woocommere and was looking for an all-in-one migration and back up-app like you have in Wordpress. I tested this one but the backup did not contain all the settings I needed. In the 7th day of my trial, there was suddenly the bill of 79 euros. Oops, I was planning to cancel, but not clear how to stop the subscription. I contacted shopify, but now by coincidence I was too late. In fact I do not need the app for the upcoming month at all, because my shop is pending and not ready to go online yet. I contacted Rewind, told them all of this and asked for a refund. Their response was, I was out of the trial period, so they can just charge me. I think this was not really emphatic, rules are rules, but sometimes people are beginners and make mistakes. I answered them to reconsider, because I read previous reviews that they do sometimes refund if someone is not satisfied. I am still waiting for their answer. If things change I will update.

I had an issue involving what I thought were some unauthorized changes to some of the listings on our store. I wasn't sure exactly when or exactly what had been altered and I needed a complete snapshot of all the listings exported to me in a file from various dates. If you have thousands of products, do not rely on this. Our store has thousands of products, I accidentally deleted some, so i used this app to restore all products to a date before I deleted the products. For some reason this app changed the assigned variant image for hundreds if not thousands of products to display the wrong image. I havent been able to check how many products this app has messed up. Update: in response to their response. I went back and forth with their support for a while, the end result was them telling me they could not reproduce the isssue, no fix.

We got this to feel a sense of security in case anything ever happened to our store. However, the one time we need to actually use a backup, we find out that they don't actually backup metafields, despite it being listed on the pricing cards above. Metafields are crucial to our store. After talking with support, I understand that they've said that the Shopify API doesn't allow them to back this up. But then don't list it and have me feeling surprised when the backup isn't there.

A very good shopify backup service for all objects: products, customers, metafields etc. Peace of mind. Good UI to review the data in different versions of a product. the ability to restore individual products and versions which is a lot of control. Easy to set up. Sales person met with us to run through features. Looking forward to using the monitoring, but we have not yet. Great feature package. We are on the plan that has Staging and monitoring, above base level. Customer service was responsive and very helpful, with one misunderstanding which we sorted out, and a problem with not operating in Australian time zone for business hours. I think premium gives you 24h. minus one star for - confusing documentation and process for backing up and restoring product metafields. This might seem like an edge case, but it was the first thing we wanted to restore, and we found it was hard. It was also the ingredients data for our products, so important. It needs to be restored manually, there is no way to see what Rewind have before you restore it to production. You can't restore versions with the Staging feature. The product restore UI is missing a few fields which may be important when deciding. Compared with other shopify apps that do import/export, Rewind is a bit of a black box, you can't see the data they have. obviously other apps are much harder to use.

Five shiney gold starts to REWIND for saving my rear and web site. I've been using Rewind since I moved our website to Shopify just because I knew that some day it was going to be needed. (15 years in IT taught me that one.) So three years slip by and the back ups just happen without anyone giving it a thought . . . until whammy. My carefully edited CVS file import went crazy and placed all kinds of ANSI II funky charcters all over my wonderfully written product descriptions when I imported ALL my products with new pricing! ouch . . . took me a day to realize how big a problem I had. I thought this was the gold standard for backups, and Ive always downloaded it for the 'just incase' situations. Oddly, we had to use it to just restore prices from the day before and come to find out: 1) It's really tedious just to see previous vs current changes - it's one page at a time, and it doesn't say what's been changed exactly, itll show you ALL data side by side. 2) you cannot EXPORT csv/excel at historical times, but if you want to have the ability to do that with JSON it's $100 extra 3) We just needed to update pricing from the previous day, it doesnt give us that option, instead it restores the whole product listing but we've updated copy and images, we don't want to do that 4) I've selected to restore product info, and their pop up keeps showing a 'loading' icon

This app does not rollback the things it needs to roll back- we have tried to rollback 3 different times and it does not restore blogs correctly nor does it restore product quantity correctly. We learned the hard way about the need of Shopify store owners to back up their data. I thought that Shopify had backups of our entire website. Nope. We experienced major data loss yesterday when we went to sync new software with our Shopify store. Something went wrong and HUNDREDS of product descriptions and prices were lost. Some products were now showing up on the website on sale for $0.00! When we inquired with Shopify about restoring from a backup, we learned that Shopify only backs up your website -- the theme and structure -- but that we are responsible for backing up our own data, such as product pages, customers, orders, etc. As a result of this disaster, we had to shut our website down while we tried to figure out how to restore what was lost. We lost almost two days worth of revenue. After many long hours of work, we were able to finally restore most of what was lost, but the first thing I did the next day was to research our options for backing up our data on a regular basis, and that's when I discovered Rewind. I signed up for the trial early the next morning. I emailed with a question, and promptly got a response. I was impressed. Well-written in perfect English, no less! One question led to another, then Alex from Rewind called me and walked me through my problem and showed me how easy it is to restore lost data with Rewind, whether it's restoring a single product, or multiple records in bulk. I learned that they have customer support hours from 8 a.m. till midnight Eastern time. Fantastic! When I explained more about our business, Alex was able to offer flexible pricing options that weren't obvious on their website, and to bundle my two Shopify stores together. Both my websites are completely backed up now and will automatically back up daily going forward. I honestly can't believe how uninformed and unprotected I was before we experienced massive data loss. I will sleep better tonight knowing that my data is safely stored with Rewind. This app really does what it says it will do. Adding the app to the store was easy. My new migration hyper-inflated my order number and choice of plan. I signed up anyway. I figured that at some point in the 7-day trial period, I'd sort things out. Turns out I didn't need to add that to my iPhone calendar. A customer service representative responded super promptly to an email asking for assistance and he adjusted my plan. One less thing to worry about. While waiting on my first backup, the onboarding process included animated training on the features of the site and how to restore both single items and the entire store. Super pleased.

Multiple times now my Shopify store has had the strangest problems. Recently all the products in the store had their second product image disappear. We use the app from day one as we have many products and different staff adding them on the website. We are reassured to know that in case of mistakes we can easily recall the previous version of the product's description. As we are using HTML tabs, it is very useful if someone mess up with the code while writing the description : 1 click and the HTML code is back. Also, knowing that we have a backup of the themes is very reassuring as we work a lot on them and sometimes have conflict with apps. If we do not identify the bugs immediately, it is almost impossible to fix it via the 'previous version' feature of Shopify. With Rewind , we can fully recall the website until the version with the bug fixed and so identify the issue. It will be almost impossible with Shopify integrated feature because we will have to do it page after page...and in the correct order. We love the app, it is more just than a tool you will use at the critical moment. It is also affordable and suggest you to go for the plan with the 'live backup feature'. BTW, we strongly suggest you to try to recall pages, themes, products when you install the app so you are sure it is working and you know what to do the 'D-day'. Better to be prepared than adding stress when your website is in trouble ;)

You know that moment you realize you just f-up something and there is no UNDO? It happened to us 12hs before launching our store for Black Friday. A simple CSV upload error erased all of our variant images (yes! that can happen if you decide to change some of the variant names in your Excel sheet!! Common Shopify!) And what do you know... There is no backup for that. Even if we re-uploaded our original csv file the variant images sources had been swiped away from Shopify's database. I personally had to re-upload all variants to our store... Took me 4 very sweaty hours. Right after this mess, we decided to search for a Backup Solution and Rewind showed up in our searches. The app does what it's supposed to do. Keep backups of almost everything on your store. And an easy way to revert if you ever mess up something. Their customer service is very responsive and the installation is pretty much brainless. Nothing to add to your them code. This is a must-have for any store with a decent amount of products or orders (yes it will even backup your orders and clients!). You get a "one-click" restore to specific dates for Collections, products, blogs, customers, pages, Product Images, Smart Collections and Themes. I have a new store, but the 7 day free trial is only available for the 39/month option. 3/month and 9/month options are for some unknown reason not available. I am not sure why am I "not eligible" since I don't any orders, which is less than 20 order limit for the lowest package... Looks like a nice trick to pretend to be an affordable app. Also, chat support is a robot that keeps asking for email. This is not a chat support, it's an email support. Red flags for me, I will not pay for this app.

You never realize the value of backups until you need them. We've had the Rewind app for some time and used them to recover from some of our Shopify "experiments". After an uninstall gone haywire - our store was completely scrambled. Kaleigh at Rewind really helped us out of a jam that had our store shutdown for almost six hours. Amazing. I think every Shopify merchant should have this app if they have any other apps on the app store. The people behind this app really care about their customers. I had a situation where I was very unhappy and they turned it around and found a solution for our site that was reasonable. The app has some issues in that it back ups your backups and even backs up things after you delete them from your site, but if your not paying for the amount of the data, it doesn't matter and you may be in a situation where you need to restore something you deleted... so we changed our review from 1 star to 4 stars because of the customer service.

Love it. Rewind is cheap insurance in case something goes sideways. Hopefully you never need it, but if you do need to recover from anything, you'll be more than happy to have it. Two or three clicks and everything is back to the way it was. No getting in touch with your IT team to try and restore a recent backup (if you even have one available), little downtime, no fuss.

I've experienced data loss before (on another platform) and it isn't pretty. The price that rewind charges isn't even a drop in the bucket considering what it would cost in down time and hassles in case of data loss. The Rewind app took no time to set up and it sends me weekly reports to keep me posted on what it's doing. If you care about your Shopify store, I highly recommend you install and use Rewind. Even if you don't care, you should still install Rewind because as I said, data loss isn't pretty.

We have been with Rewind for over 1 year now, and we just came across an overcharge of $6 per month over our $10 per month subscription. When we asked why? we were told " oh you are in the old subscription " which is 65 orders per month". Yet we NEVER got an email to upgrade or enhance our subscriptions, There must be over 200 customers being effected by this, which to me is shady business. Why did you not automatically upgrade the customer who had 65 orders per month since they are paying $10 and the 200 orders per month is only $9? why were you taking an extra $7 per month from your customers? When we asked for a refund or a credit the answer from support was " No so we did charge you accordingly for the plan you were on, if you would like to switch plans today you can avoid overage charges in the future" When we asked for when exactly was the new subscription introduced to we can back track it and only get a refund from that date onward we were told " I do not have an exact date as to when the order based plans were introduced. " This is shady and not good honest business, we will raise this concern to shopify and we will delete this app immediately. This is our story, honesty is key in any business, and being grandfathered in a subscription has always been the case with many companies, but unfortunately not this one. Take from this what you will.
