We've been working with Zonos now for several years. In the beginning it was helpful, we were able to customize the settings on our own and the bugs we had were often fixable ourselves. Today, Zonos has many issues. Since yesterday we have customers from outside of Europe that cannot check out anymore when using a discount code. The answer from Zonos? They are sending a standard AI answer after 12 hours without a fix, not even addressing the issues of the customers. The tool is very important for the function of the shop and having relevant bugs every few weeks/months like this is costing a lot of revenue.

We recently migrated our Shopify Plus store from Global-e to Zonos, and it was one of the best operational decisions we've made for our international business. The onboarding team, especially Lennon and Nate, were exceptional. They guided us through the migration, helped us implement a VAT-inclusive checkout, and remained responsive throughout the entire process. As our requirements evolved, they adapted quickly and even delivered custom solutions where needed. We've now processed a significant number of live international orders across multiple countries, and the customer experience has been excellent. Landed cost calculations are transparent, the DHL integration has worked well, and we finally have complete visibility into our international shipping costs. One of the biggest advantages has been taking ownership of our international shipping stack. Having our own DHL account gives us full visibility into transportation costs, allows us to negotiate directly with the carrier as our volume grows, and gives us much greater control over our international business instead of relying on a closed ecosystem. Every question we've had has been answered quickly, and the support team has been willing to work through real-world operational scenarios as they came up. If you're currently using Global-e or evaluating international checkout solutions, I highly recommend taking a serious look at Zonos. Owning your international operation instead of outsourcing it has been a major advantage for our business.

After spending over $3500 CAD for this app, the second order that goes through didn't charge any tax or fees due to the customer using a discount code on my website. They said they would work on it and it has been almost a week, I can't ship the order for the customer and I can't make a new shipping label either as it is giving error messages.

So far, I can only speak to the integration process, but I can say that it was a breeze. They were super responsive, very clear in all their instructions, and held our hand the entire way (even handling most of the work for us). I would highly recommend them. Lennon in particular went above and beyond to help us get set up before our launch date.

Only been on the platform for about a week, but it's been a positive experience so far, and I've already seen international customer conversion pick up with the new, lower rates made possible by Zonos. The setup support I received from Lennon was top notch - he's been responsive with questions and handled a small billing issue promptly. Based on what I've experienced so far, I'd recommend Zonos for at least somewhat established brands ready to increase their business outside of the U.S.

The app does everything it is supposed to do and has definitely increased our conversion rate. The customer service is good however you do need to do your own spot checking to make sure everything is working well. We have had a few instances where it hasn't but we have found the issues. Once we found them the team got it fixed. Hoping for a returns side of the app and it would be great if it was a little cheaper!

We just launched with Zonos and while we don't have enough experieince with the platform yet to comment on the overall performance in live action over the long term, we can say without a doubt that the onboarding experience was one of the best onboarding experiences we've had in many years of working with many different technology partners. Our onboarding rep Shawn Roah was a model for what one should expect from an onboarding partner. He was super knowledgable, but resourceful and prompt with follow throughs if there were any knowledge gaps; he was patient, respectful and understanding with our learning curve; his communication approach was clear, concise, and geared toward progress; he was constructively creative when we hit internal process roadblocks on our end, which was so refreshing to see someone thinking outside the box. Edited in 2024: I was contacted by Zonos a few years after writing a 2020 review and they explained the program is completely different now from what it was in 2020, based on customer feedback. They issued a full refund for the overcharges from 2020, with no expectation of an updated review. The entire refund transaction was respectful and professional and based on that alone I would give them another opportunity. We are not shipping as much internationally so we don't need the app now, but if our international shipping got busy then I would give them another look. I never had any unpleasant interactions with any of their support team during what was a stressful time for us in 2020 with huge overcharges from DHL. They say they have now taken over all the charges from DHL so our experience would be 100% different with no overcharged duties. That is reassuring and I'd be glad to deal with them in future. I have updated the review from 1 star to 3 stars based on the customer service. Earlier review from 2020: Would give MINUS 5 stars if possible. I've lost $600 by shipping my most recent five orders using this app. (Zonos reported, and customers were charged, shipping, taxes and duties of $2960.57, but DHL charged me $3560.42 for those five shipments.) I've spent hours trying to deal with the problem and provide accurate info to their support team in the past five months I've had the app installed. Their support team responds quickly but is useless at fixing the actual problems with the app, despite my providing detailed screenshots of exactly what is occurring with shipping pricing. Despite their "fixing" the dimensions of the products. Despite their "fixing" the charges. Nothing actually "fixed" the reason the app continually undercharged every single international customer for shipping, taxes and duties. Oh, and of course, absolutely zero refunds from them and zero response to my multiple requests for a refund of the monthly fee or the shipping undercharges. I relied on others' glowing reviews to install Zonos but this app completely disappointed and I would 100% recommend you stay away from it. I suggest checking out EasyShip or FlavorCloud for shipping from US to international destinations. That's what I'm doing as soon as I uninstall Zonos.

This was one of the best white glove onboardings in my 18-year career in E-commerce. The funny story is that we disabled Zonos thinking we had a better solution. A full 1 year later, we re-enabled Zonos as the other apps couldn't compete. Zonos also was willing to work with rate cards and shipping rate providers and communicate with them. Our onboarding specialist, checked in constantly, willing to jump in and move the launch process along. Thank you Lennon!

I'm relatively new to using Shopify, but have many years of working in larger companies with fully functioning ERP systems along with import and export compliance procedures. So at my new place where I'm working, we were experiencing some issues with our export orders and people were abandoning their carts because of how long it took us to get back to them on freight & duty. That's when I learned about Zonos. I spoke with a few colleagues and they spoke highly of Zonos and recommended it as a great app to add to Shopify. Zonos's implimentation team was very knowledgeable and helpful. Fortunately we keep our tariff information up to date in Shopify, so the integration went very smoothly. Since implimenting Zonos, we're definitely seeing a nice increase in our international orders. We haven't had any major issues and customers are getting materials much more reliably than before. The couple of minor issues we had, Zonos's support team was fantastic at getting back to us quickly with insighful solutions that were pretty easily adopted. I would definitely suggest Zonos to other Shopify users looking for an easy to use app to help facilitate international sales of their products.

Update: 3/19/2024 Zonos finally updated their app that works with discounts! It took some time to get it to work with checkout extensibility but I appreciate that they did not release a half-baked product and that they made sure that the app works seamlessly. Zonos' team, especially Jordan, was excellent in keeping us up to date with their development. They helped us reinstall the app and made sure that the app was working correctly with discounts. I felt like Zonos cared about us and our issues even though we're just a small business. Original: 7/21/2022 We've had numerous complaints from UK customers that they're getting taxed almost double of what they paid for the products. Zonos does not calculate VAT based on the discounted retail price. They only calculate based on the full retail price. We found a solution by using automatic discounts, so we told their dev team about it. Somehow, that's not working anymore either.

Great hands on service getting the app set up. So far this app has provided a clear option for international customers on shipping, taxes, and duties. Most customers aren't familiar with their country's import taxes, and asking them to pay upon delivery to receive the item created tons of customer service requests and abandoned shipments. I love the transparency and detail on the duty and tax calculations so I know my customers are not overcharged. Also, Zonos has killer support as you can see when you read all the reviews. I use my own FedEx account which was a must. Zonos just makes the experience great for our company and our international shoppers. I was on Market's Pro before; it was expensive and they don't refund their fees if you cancel your orders. When I switched, FedEx easily beat the DHL shipping rates that are offered with Market's Pro. Also, there is basically no support. I had an order and Shopify support didn't even understand the problem and I had to figure it out on my own and I was unable to get in contact with Global-e.

We have swapped from Global-E to Zonos and I can say that from start the finish the on-boarding process has been simple, fast and painless. Love this app -- makes complicated taxation/duties rules for international orders super easy. They hand hold you through the whole set up and processing int'l orders thereafter is seriously 1 click of a button. No one could understand this on their own and these guys are experts. Also, they can calculate dimensional weight which to this day, I still can't find a good app for that for domestic orders. Also, they bear all the risk of their calculations; they guarantee the taxes and duties calculations and pay the difference if they are wrong. Makes me sleep better at night given how complicated that is. JUST USE THIS APP.

We bought this AP and it didn't work. I contacted support and they said I needed a special API from Shopify which only comes with the top-end Shopify plan or $20 a month. I got the $20 a month API and it still didn't work. I contacted support and I got the below response. I would not recommend this AP to anyone. Typically with new stores we have an initial call, to see if Zonos would be a good for your international initiatives. Then we would get you in contact with our onboarding team to make sure everything is integrated accurately to avoid any complications. We don't provide any support for self-installs unfortunately. We do have a pricing agreement in place that all of our customers sign when integrating our services. We charge $1,000 for the initial setup fee, and then our pricing is transactional based after that. I wouldn't be able to provide you with any technical support, but I'm happy to get an agreement in place so we can get our onboarding team involved. They would be able to run through the configurations and do some tests to ensure everything is working properly.

Global Trade is confusing and they've helped us to approach selling internationally, streamline systems to make it sustainable, and offered great resources to solve the nuances and confusing, unique experiences. Bethany was so helpful onboarding our first two shopify stores, Preston has been great in trying to get two more stores onboarded, and Cassie was a STUD helping us solve a one off problem. We weren't able to solve it using the Zonos software (shipping warranty parts) but she stuck with me and met with me multiple times to exhaust all possibilities and offered a solution outside the Zonos platform. GREAT customer service that is hard to find now a-days, specifically with apps/software in my experience!

Zono's has helped increase our international sales. We have shipped international for years, but with all the custom forms, HS codes and rules, it was overwhelming to ship each package. After we got past the setup part with Zono's, it is so easy. We literally click create label and everything populates correctly, it interacts with our UPS account and we do nothing but print a label. It even puts the tracking number into the Shopify order once its created. Overall the experience integrating and transitioning to Zonos was simple, and we've found the platform easy to use. We're very happy that the issue of importing into Europe, which began as confusing and overwhelming, has been solved for us. Zonos also allows us complete transparency with our International customers regarding landed costs. Prior to Zonos, we were experiencing customers unwilling to pay their duty and tax bills, and refusing to accept their order. This resulted in freight costs and surcharges as well as lost revenue of product which sat in transit for months at a time. Zonos has offset this cost for us, and ensures our customers have a positive and trusting brand experience when shopping with us.

I agree with the previous review. The app is supposed to give International customers a heads up into Duties/Taxes and make it easier for them to pay. Unfortunately, I'm losing more International orders than gaining because of the extra Zonos fees and Brokerage fees I could otherwise discount or rid of if I were allowed to use my UPS pricing agreement and a second account number. International is expensive as it is. Tagging on Zonos Fees and exxagerating to cover the spread is not generating more business. Not worth $99 in new orders after more than two months.

I added this app so that my international customers weren't blindsided by taxes and duties upon receiving their packages, but I've had nothing but trouble with it. The support people who work for this company are awesome (hence the two stars instead of one), but unfortunately the app itself is terribly inaccurate. I worked with several of my international customers to ask them what their taxes were and they were absolutely never even close to what Zonos estimated for Landed Costs. They were always way higher than my customers had to pay. Additionally, simple things like adding UPS shipping was difficult because, again, the rates weren't even close to what I'd pay to ship via Shopify Shipping. I'm worried that the overestimations are scaring people away during the checkout process. I've just changed all of my shipping fees to say "You may be expected to pay taxes/duties upon receipt of your item." Problem solved and now I get to keep my $20/month plus whatever percent they were taking per international order.

They caused losses of thousands of $ due to incorrectly generated shipping labels. We were very careful and caught it early, notified them and eventually they fixed it (after 3 weeks...), They did eventually credit us for the losses but we had to insist and give them papers and reports ... all for a mistake they made and could've inspected on their end. Thats just one of many issues we had, it's exhausting, right now we are unable to ship the orders because of them. We're not sure what to do, support quality is as poor as their product quality.

I rarely leave a negative comment. I was so excited about this app. I tried to install it and I had a question about something. I sent an email to support team. Almost 24 hours later I called because I did not receive any response to email. This makes me worry because if I need to get in touch with the support team for an important issue, I do not know how long that will take. We use a lot of apps for our store and every single one of them provides excellent customer service. I really would love to use this app because it looks like this is the only app that is available on Shopify. I understand it may take more than 24 hours to respond sometimes but they should have sent an acknowledgement email at least. There is no chat option, you can’t reach out to support through the number they provide… I hope things get better so that we can use the app. If that happens, I will be sure to modify my review here.

There's nothing worse than shipping to a customer overseas and receiving hate mail in return because, unbeknownst to them, they have to pay their local taxes and duties to get their order released and delivered to them. Zonos took all of the guess work out of international shipping for us the seller, and more importantly for our customers. It's ability to provide transparency to our customers of their final cost is priceless. We saw an increase in conversions internationally once the app was deployed. It also saved us on the administrative side trying to determine shipping and duties for international orders in advance in order to hold our customers hands and walk them across their purchase. Zonos started off great, had it for over a year with not one issue. This year they are clearly going through some ‘changes’ I.e expanding too fast. Constant issues, they make changes to our store tax set up without evening letting us know, one minute charging no tax for a country and the next minute they are. Meaning all our website text is incorrect about shipping. The reply is the government have changed and it’s now mandatory to collect x amount in this country, well Zonos, how about an email to your stores letting them know! Rather than letting them go for days thinking sales are slow to find out customers are now paying hefty fees at checkout went they weren’t before! It’s called communication or a blanket email that you have/are changing the current set up to do XYZ for instance. Pretty naive to think you can just go around changing stuff and not have an effect on checkout conversion. I think the best one was when zone started charging duties on or EU products to the EU. Without telling us, once we realised I received a reply that they had a new blanket rule about preferential rules of origin and had decided our goods didn’t meet the criteria, yet they didn’t think to tell us and lastly were wrong! Our goods are of EU origins and are duty free. Hopeless. Also now makes me laugh support are Monday to Friday, great when they make changes on a Friday and disappear for the weekend leaving the store loosing money. AVOID

'Been using it for a few months. Not really sure how the pricing goes. For Canadian shipment I often see a $13 advancement fee which I don't understand. Zonos replied to my inquiry it's a FedEx fee to advance pay the duties and taxes which makes no sense since those duties are paid by us up front or by customer on delivery. FedEx is unresponsive at this point. I have my doubts the app is valuable or not to my internal shipping operation.

WORST experience I have ever had. First, the only "support" you receive is on how to get charged an additional $150 on top of the monthly fee and transaction fees, to assist you during the setup. Once I had everything set up correctly and launched my boutique, I lost 90% of conversions at checkout because the ZONOS app was calculating the WRONG fees for VAT and Duties, showing customers 4 to 10 times the actual amounts which resulted in abandoned carts and most probably forever lost customers. Update 8-12: After posting this review , i was contacted directly by a customer support team member who has been working with me one on one to solve the issues we are incurring with inaccurate estimates which Zonos was providing our customers. Due to the major limitations with Shopify's shipping attributes and what they give developers access to in their API , Zonos is pretty handcuffed into how it has to actually do its job. They are using many workarounds in their software to fix issues that could EASILY be solved by Shopify directly. I complained about the cost of Zonos, but now I have a better understanding why its so expensive. Their support team and how much effort they actually have to put into helping customers to receive accurate estimates must be very costly. You are not just paying for the app, you are paying for their guidance in getting it to work properly. I still don't know that their workarounds and solutions are successful yet so im bumping my review one star for the level of attention we are getting. Zonos is the only app on the marketplace that does exactly what I need , so Im thankful there team is so helpful. ---- The back end of the app, and integrating into my store worked well. However the cost estimates have been wildly inaccurate with no rhyme or reasoning that I can deduce after analyzing a handful of transactions. I am also not too keen on the aggressive pricing and lack of response from customer service when we requested help (still waiting for a reply 4 days later). At $10/mo plus taking a cut of my GROSS revenue is pretty insane for an app. I will hope to integrate some other more cost efficient solution in the near future so I can breakaway from this service.

took me a few months to make my decision on getting this app.. But now that it's integrated makes shipping worldwide so much easier... It's linked up to my UPS account and DHL and don't have to worry about customers not paying duties and fees and loosing sales.. everything is paid of front.. I strongly recommend this app for anybody that has to ship worldwide.. dont have to worry about headaches and NOT only that!! i know us hustlers don't have time... well this just added some more time for me to growl my company..

Update: It still doesn't work for us, but customer service made a good effort to try & resolve it. I will upgrade my review for that. Totally a good service if your products are standardized. Our product sizes are simply too large and complicated for Zonos. We will have to continue to use Advanced Shipping Rules and give a warning for Int'l customers. The landed cost did not work for us. We have a store with extensive items, many package sizes and weights, with different rules, tags, and more. This was all set up in ShipStation and Advanced Shipping Rules before I joined the company. I really, really wanted this app to work and spent a lot of time & effort trying to make it work. Perhaps it would, for a company with a simpler & more standardized catalog. It may partially be our fault, that sizes & weights are not stored on the product themselves, but on the product tags. I would give it 5 stars if it integrated with ShipStation and was able to pull data & tags from them. Hoping for this feature in the future.

Spent weeks trying to come up with a solution for full transparency while shipping internationally. Dead end, and horror stories across the board. Finally ran across Zonos. NAILED IT... switch to DDP label, and then charge athlete at checkout. This could really elevate our world presence and let the Atreyu brand compete in the big leagues... by the time we have shoes circulating across the globe, other brands will have wondered why they haven't used the app yet! For international sales DDP calculation, Zonos is the only app, a must have. Customer service is fantastic. Taylor is a legend! Set up either tiered price shipping rates based on cart value or just carrier calculated shipping rates - either was is easy to do through the Zonos dashboard. Shipping, duties and taxes are clearly separated in the cart and clear to your customers. I would suggest, if you use an IMS, to check out Order Tagger as well to add a note to each order that "DDP" is included in the sale, then set your automation rule at your IMS level to notify your carrier that the shipper pays DDP on behalf of the customer. Zonos is the only (and best) solution for DDP if you want to offer your customers a transparent and easy to manage duties and tax collection process.

I have been looking for an app that will dynamically apply the appropriate taxes and duties to e-com orders so that my customers do not have to pay these upon receipt (meaning easier and hassle-free delivery). Zonos is literally the only thing I have found on the market that does this. They worked with me on a very tight timeline to implement the app and even customize my checkout page across multiple stores. Highly recommended - there's just no comparison to trying to keep static tables for tax and duties calculation.

We used Zonos when we were on Magento and decided to continue to use them when we migrated to Shopify Plus. We have a global customer and they help us ship to her wherever she is. It allows us to be upfront with our customers regarding the duties and taxes that will be applied to their purchases (which is extremely valuable with our range of high-priced luxury goods) allowing them to prepay and eliminate unwanted surprises.
